Stoves Richmond 600E clock caught fire when not in use.

The stove caught fire when the clock ticked 6 pm. Luckily someone was in the kitchen and we were able to put the flames out. If they were not there it would have burnt the house down.

There were manufacturing faults with the stove that were reported and Stoves never rectified.

Customer service was too variable. Some personal were helpful and others not. Most did not want to help or were not interested in finding out what had caused their product to fail in such a dangerous way.

The fault reported when the stove was new, and never inspected by Stoves as they failed to send out a repairman, was the lack of a seal between the control panel and the glass hob. After this fire the seal with it's backing tape was found melted along the control wiring, showing that the seal was never fitted properly.

Because it was never built properly there was a build up of matter over the wiring inside the top of the stove.

The fire was caused by a capacitor on the clock circuit burning out and setting fire to the build up of fats that had leaked through where the seal should have been.

Ultimately this is a company that do not care about your family's safety and they should not be allowed to sell such dangerous goods.

The customer service was not fast and required many calls to chase up. It took 3 weeks for an answer after a repairman visit as to whether Stoves would repair the damage caused by their poor manufacturing, and a couple of chase up calls.

The man who came to assess the damage said that the stove was reparable, but he didn't have the parts on him. His assessment has been ignored by Stoves who finally decided that they won't take the repair job.

This means I have a piece of scrap sitting in the kitchen that I will now have to replace.

Their products are frankly rubbish. The previous stove I had from Stoves lasted nearly 20 years and only needed replacing because it's clock unit had become obsolete.

I reported all the faults with this stove and Stoves did nothing about it. That the clock failed a month or so after the end of the 5 year warranty and their lack of caring about dangerous failures signals deliberate failure is built in to their products and that they do not care if their customers burn.

No technical support

As per previous reviews the fan on the DF 90 runs for too long after cooker is switched off, which is intrusive. Otherwise, so far, the cooker is fine. However, I find it baffling that Stoves haas no technical help department to deal with basic queries. I had a couple of issues relating to installation and how a cleaning feature worked and was simply referred back to the manual by someone who had zero knowledge of his company’s own product. Very frustrating.

poor customer service and disappointing quality

We purchased a Stoves 60cm wide Double Oven Richmond Deluxe 60Ei RTY Mini Range Electric Cooker with Induction Hob back in October. It looked lovely and worked well. Within a few weeks (and very little use in that time) the controls printed on the clock screen had completely rubbed off, I emailed the contact for stoves and never received a reply. We also have read every part of the manual and cannot find a way to check the time left on the timer without clearing the remaining time which, if this is correct rather than a fault, is very annoying. Since then I have noticed one of the induction rings skips from heat settings 6-8 with us not being able to use 7 at all as if it doesn’t exist. Again I emailed and have had no reply. Poor customer service and disappointing to have an oven which is still very new which is already seeming a bit worse for wear.

Don’t waste your money .

Decided to spend some money and buy a premium British cooker .£1000
Big mistake
3 yrs very light use (as we are out the country half the year, also use a ninja airfrier instead of the oven when we are here ) and the induction cooktop has decided to stop working .
Previous Hotpoint(£300) was still working perfectly at 15+yrs old when we made the unfortunate decision to buy British .
Absolutely no help from stoves whatsoever ,phone numbers on website take you through to 3rd party who are zero help.
No one interested in telling me what part may be broken so I can fix it myself .
Not recommended

This is a further update from previous…

This is a further update from previous reviews going back to early January. Stoves have confirmed the 16 month old cooker is beyond economic repair. They have agreed to replace it but god knows when, since they said it would be replaced we have heard nothing. Imagine not being able to cook for 10 weeks, how would you manage ? Stoves don't seem to care

Very bad service

We bought a Richmond stove with our new kitchen from keukenkampioen in the Netherlands. Around 2 months after installation, the bottom left oven door fell off. It was 6 weeks before the repair man came. He then told us a part on the door was broken and he would have to order a new part. That was 2 months ago. After sending emails, speaking to the repair company and the kitchen company NOTHING has been done. This was a very expensive cooker and the after sales service is absolutely none existent. I really wish we had chosen a different make now. So disappointing.
