Strachan Reviews 

First of all the product is excellent as was the installation which is the most important thing. However, the process was prolonged and stressful which was completely unacceptable considering the extremely high cost, especially as Strachan had our money for a month before completion. Instead of either taking less work on or giving realistic timescales we were strung along from December to the end of May with our carpets up for the whole of May. Things are extremely difficult with Covid and Brexitt so I asked why they didn't give us a date of, say, July when all the furniture was ready but I was told that they have no facilities for storing the furniture until ready to install. The carpenter was also very unhappy with the delays. I held off writing this review because I was sure we would get some offer of goodwill, but the only communication was another admin error. In summary, if you are able to completely block off the rooms in question and can arrange for someone to be at home for much longer than expected then I would recommend - or wait until we are in more normal times.

From design through to implementation, our experience with Strachan was great - they were professional, courteous and their expertise shone through. Our wardrobes look fabulous. I couldn't have been happier with the whole experience. The fitters left our bedrooms pristine once they finished for the day. I would highly recommend to anyone!!

Strachan fitted out our study in February of this year and it turned out exactly as we had hoped. We got back in touch and had them design a hall cupboard for coat and shoe storage and this we had fitted in June. A much smaller job than the study but just as expertly fitted and we are well pleased with the final result. Would definitely recommend.

We recently engaged Strachan to replace a somewhat tired and aged non-Strachan wardrobe in a spare bedroom. Based on our experience and the high quality of the wardrobes the company installed in our master bedroom some 13 years previously, we were confident we would receive the same excellent service. We were not disappointed. We asked the company to work around the fact that we also had to carry out a major plastering and redecoration of the room. They were most accommodating. The existing assembly was removed early. cleanly and tidily. The surveyor created an excellent design, providing some good practical, and frankly very sensible, suggestions which we happily accepted. The materials and manufacture of the product was, as expected, of high quality and carefully delivered on time. The installation was expertly carried out by the same gentleman, Mr Giovanni Taibi, who removed the original system. A most genial man, very hard working, careful and tidy with a good eye for detail. In short we have a beautiful wardrobe system of lasting high quality. Yes, we are not disappointed.

This is the second occasion that Strachan Furniture Makers have installed furniture in my house, the first was a complete office/study, which included a fold away bed. On this occasion wardrobes have been installed in the master bedroom. On both occasions the work, support and quality has been exemplary. The standard and personality of the installation fitter/tradesman was also of a high standard.

It is now Wednesday, 14th of July. The last details were completed yesterday, 13th July. The finished product is beautiful and it integrates all the wires of the sound system as well as the wall lights and TV.
Strachan have manufactured an extra shelf and a back panel to hide the wires of the amplifier, which the original design did not include.
Both my husband and I are happy with the high quality end product.
However, due to the delays and the fact that it took more than two weeks to get it right, due to the time off work my husband had to take to look after the fitting process and the fact that he had to work on the wires himself, we feel we cannot give Strachan full five stars this time around.
We appreciate that they responded to the complaints, though, and worked to solve the problems, down to the last one.

It is now Wednesday, 7 of July, a week after I wrote my first review. Since then we have had a Strachan person in our house three times, Thursday and Friday last week and today. The bookcase which homes our sound system and TV is still not finished; there are still bits missing. We were promised that today it would be finished, but the fitter left at 2, not even fitting the bits that were here and could have been fitted. There is another England match and kids to be picked up from school, so the customer can wait yet another day.
Everything that happened on this project with Strachan is an example of bad trades practice:
1. miscommunication between company, surveyor and fitters
2. inaccurate measurements which led to a back panel having to be re-manufactured and missing strips having to be procured on the next day and yet another next day.
3. only one fitter sent in at a time who can blame the previous fitter for lying to them or who can blame the company for not taking accurate measures. It is always somebody else's fault and the customer sits there, listening to all this and feeling completely bamboozled, taken for a ride etc.
4. no electrician checking on the fitter to make sure the wiring is done correctly. My husband had to take a day off work, today, and was disturbed from work on two other days in order to make sure that the wiring is done correctly. He is not a Strachan employee.
I will end the review here for the day. I do hope they finally finish tomorrow, 8 days after the time they were supposed to finish. I am not holding my breath, though!

Tomorrow I might changed my rating of Strachan, but today they let us down in a big way.
They were due to fit a bookcase in our livingroom on the 21st June. They postponed, claiming there was a fault in their measurements and they need to re-measure. The final date for installation was today, 29th June.
They sent one man who brought all the cupboards inside and than found out he is missing a tool. He went to buy one and claimed he could not find one. In the meantime, the hallway and the living room are a mess. They said they would come tomorrow morning to fit. Will update this review tomorrow.
Did not expect such a mess from Strachan. I used them a few years ago and they were spot on!
Something has gone completely wrong with the company.

We have been very happy with the service provided by Strachan Furniture Makers Ltd.
The project was to have an office fitted in one of our bedrooms.
The designer (Chris Newton) who visited us did a great job in identifying other possibilities than the one we had in mind. He was very thorough and provided us with some freehand drawings of what we agreed the office would look like. All of our requirements were met.
The tradesman (Steve) who came to fit the office furniture was the hardest working tradesman I have come across. We were told from the start that the installation would take 2.5 days He worked from 8 in the morning until after 6 o'clock in the evening for the 2 full days and then from 8am until finally finishing at around 1:30pm on the third day.
We are very happy with the finished product. It meets our needs and looks great.
The only slight problem was the date for the installation. A week was agreed when we accepted the quotation and I stressed that this needed to be kept as I would have to take time off work and arrange cover for the week. I was promised that a note would be placed on the file that the dates would not be changed. A couple of weeks before the due date we were told that the date had to slip by a week due to sickness. It appeared that no notice was taken of my original request. I was able to slip my leave from work for a week and arrange the necessary cover at quite short notice but it was still disappointing.
Despite this slight problem we would recommend Strachan Furniture Makers Ltd. Most of the engagement from initial contact through design and installation was a good experience. The 2 people we came in contact with were very professional and provided a very positive view of the company overall.

I just had my fitted furniture with Strachan installed, and I'm thrilled to bits with it. They turned an empty room into a beautiful textured home office. Every step from the designer visit to the final installer has been a breeze. They were very clear on what the next steps are for the project and estimated dates. I will be going with them again for any future furniture in my home

I selected Strachans to design my new Office, based on reading the feedback from other Customers and the fact that they are a local, family-run business.
The experience from start to finish couldn't have been better, in that it was extremely professional, informative and stress-free.

Steve for fitting the furniture. Steve was here for 3 days, always arriving on time, never left a mess and best of all was a master craftsman. The quality of his work was exceptional and the finished office matched the design exactly, exceeding my expectations.

The experience that I had has guaranteed that I will be using Strachans in the future. The perfect choice.

The installation of a wall bed was our third Strachan Project. It was undertaken by Mr. D Bluck and a colleague. The work was uniformally to an excellent standard and both technicians were highly competent and approachable.
I cannot speak to highly of the communication with Strachan as a Company and the projection of that competence in the standard of workmanship we have become accustomed to expect.

New Library
This was our second major project with Strachan's following on a very pleasing bedroom & dressing room project a year ago.
The service was exemplary from survey through to completion and the result is stunning.
Highly recommended if you want quality and are prepared to pay.

The office was built to the highest standard. The carpenter worked everything to precision. Catherine from customer service is very professional and ready to help you at every stage. Everyone on the team is very professional. Most of all, the product is of the best quality. I couldn't have asked for any better.

Excellent service our new wardrobe fitted and looks great. Can’t fault service also Bob the fitter very professional and courteous and did not leave any mess.

Our journey started in October 2020, with a visit from the Strachan designer who sat with us and designed exactly what we wanted. We were so pleased we decided to go ahead there and then .
Installation was arranged for January 2021 and Aaron duly arrived. We can not praise him highly enough. He was so efficient his workmanship exemplary and he was a lovely guy too. The house was left spotless each time he left.
We did have a few hiccups along the way, but were kept up to date by Helen who again is a great asset to the company. On the occasions Aaron didn't come Jonathan came and again a lovely guy and everything was perfect .
We absolutely love our new lounge units .

I had furniture installed in a bedroom and a complete study. This installation should have been completed in January, indeed the price was conditional on my accepting a date in that month.
We are now in April and the study is still not complete, despite Covid I have had three visits and non of them have finally completed the installation. More annoyingly I tried to talk to the installations team to determine when they might finally visit and complete the remaining items and they will neither take my call or call back. They take your money readily enough but are slow to deliver the product as promised, and for this reason I would not recommend.

Considering the Pandemic situation from the time of the Order to Completion was organised & ran smoothly.
The Quality excellent & the Team of people were very skilled & very competent in assembling & fitting the Furniture.

The staff communication and overall design process was great, our fitter was great too. I had got a bit frustrated with some delays to final install but Strachans ended up being proactive at dealing with it. The design and quality of furniture is great

very impressed with the professionalism of the installer and the quality of the product. Defiantly recommend the company. A very stress free experience.
