If you are going to state that "we will pass this report to customer care and ask them to contact you" It would be good customer service if they actually did? Still no contact after I wrote the initial review?
Thanks Nick

Good quality homes

We would like to thank Dominic, Tony and all the team for doing such a great job. Strongvox are a good quality builder and we are so pleased to be in our new home. We've got the usual minor snags to be corrected (as with any new home), but Strongvox are committed to ensuring that everything is sorted to our satisfaction. Thanks also to Kate and Laura in the sales team for all their support.

Appalling customer care

I bought a apartment from them a year ago and for the last 11 months have had a problem with the solar panel fuse switch tripping every time it gets windy and because it was on a row everything else was tripping so I got in contact with customer care and it took about 2 months for someone to come round and isolate the solar panel switch from the rest and they said that would sort it out!! As soon as it got windy it tripped again!! This is still going on now for 11 months and no one seems interested. I emailed strongvox customer care again 3 days ago and no answer, this is appalling customer care having a problem and still not sorted out 11 months later and anyone thinking of buying a strongvox house or apartment should take into consideration how bad there customer care is

We are very sorry to read this review and hear of your disappointment. Our Customer Care team endeavour to reply to all correspondence as swiftly as possible within three to five working days and looking through the notes we can see that contact has been made to yourself. The solar panel contractor had offered a date for rectifying this problem which was not convenient and a new date is now being arranged to get this resolved for you.

STRONGVOX RECOMMENDED

We moved into our property at Carrick Mill in April 2022 and we are very happy with our new home. The purchase of our property was smoother than we expected and any snagging items were dealt with effectively and efficiently. We found Strongvox's after care team responded well to any communication we had with them and they followed through on their promises.
Our main hope now is that the road is surfaced soon!

Be VERY careful when dealing with…

Be VERY careful when dealing with Strongvox, as they can't really be trusted.

After 2.5 years we're still waiting for everything to be fixed and both staircases were fitted incorrectly — they wanted us in a hotel for over a month while they fitted two new ones.

More issues below:

- They knew we were using Help to Buy and let us submit the application when they didn’t have funding. I could let that go, but worse was that they lied and told our mortgage advisor they had the funding when they didn’t. So, he submitted the application again only for it to fail. We then had to complete a new application, as you can’t use the same one.

- We were told to pay £4,000 more than we’d previously agreed on the flooring because of their disorganisation.

- Some snagging issues are marked as ‘closed’ without being fixed, nor telling us, they just ignored them which is very disrespectful.

- Both staircases were fitted incorrectly during the build but signed it off anyway and hoped we wouldn't notice (we were told by one of the first site managers). They kept delaying this and ignoring us, hoping we'd give up.

- Fire doors throughout the house had gaps that were too large to slow the spread of a fire, yet I have them on record saying that they’d do it when the house has settled after a year. So, that means we were not safe in a fire until they decide to replace it in their own time — which ended up taking them two years. Who cares if anyone dies in a fire, right?

Other issues
- Terrible communication from start to finish and non-existent in a lot of cases.
- Major snags took two years to fix, some still remain.
- Drawn out sales process needing to confirm tiles, kitchen cupboards, carcasses, end plates, cupboard inserts, splashback, handles...you name it, one, at, a, time.
- Built-in wardrobes were an option but they didn’t tell us.
- We were told that we could choose any of the Karndean flooring from the website, so we paid for some samples only to then be told that we couldn’t have what we’d chosen.
- They would never commit to a completion date, right up until the final week. Not great when you have to give your landlord a leaving date.
- Bathroom tiles were fitted incorrectly.
- Misaligned staircases were from “shoddy workmanship” apparently.
- There were a number of snags, which you’d expect. However, there were a few issues from sloppiness, such as the dishwasher not working, poor plumbing, and outside doors not locking. These should have been obvious during their ‘inspection’, so we were disappointed to have to sort these out after moving in.

Once they've taken your money they don't really care — they ignored a lot of emails and if you call they just tell you the same "we're working on it" line every time.

They’ve won awards for customer service, yet we were never asked to take part.

Having moved into our New house on…

Having moved into our New house on Wedmore Grange, we can only compliment the sales team Kate and Laura on their informative, inclusive and detailed approach to the sales process. At all stages of the construction we were invited to visit, inspect and familiarise ourselves with our developing new home!
Having purchased new properties this was very refreshing but to then be advised our home would be complete more than a month earlier than originally advised was outstanding. All previous experiences were late completion, not early.
We are now settled in and yes there are inevitably teething problems but the site team led by Dom are extremely helpful and responsive. We have experienced some mould which was highlighted before we moved in, but letting the air flow through the house as advised seems to have cured the problem.
We can only speak highly of the site team treating all occupants with courtesy and respect whilst trying to build houses around occupants!
We are looking forward to our future in our new Strongvox home!

Not worth one star

For would be buyers, first come and look at the joke of a housing development called Manor Court Cossington, 10 years on and the houses that have scaffolding on them because of structural defects. This company should be investigated into as soon as possible from the Directors down to the workforce.Your reply to my review is making the assumption that I have a problem with the scaffolding. My problem is the reasons why scaffolding has gone up on ten houses to date. Structural defects include roof truss tie in straps to gable walls, in a number of cases fitted wrongly, also problems with coping stones to gable ends, our ones were in an independent surveyors views, were of the worst he has ever seen for poor workmanship, when our coping stones were removed, inferior fixings were used. There were a number of cracks that appeared in the stone buildings, these were repaired with helical bars installed with epoxy grout. The overall workmanship of the stonework is of a very poor quality, this is a specialised skill more so than straight forward brickwork. The people employed were not of sufficient skill, and the site supervision was not strict enough to detect this.I am informed that one of the site foreman has now become a director of your company which does not bode well for the future if your company. I will now touch on our particular house which from the start of moving in, the staircase had movement and was found once again due to inferior workmanship had been installed, this had to be re glued to ensure no further movement was detected. The poor quality of movement around the windows and the sills plus the inferior mastic that was used has resulted in unsitely gaps where the mastic is coming away from the wall or the frame. The first floor, when walking on it creak and groan, we were told they were only stuck and no mechanical fixing was used, it sounds as though we are living in a cottage of hundreds of years of age instead of a house, given all the faults I have mentioned is still only eleven years old. So as you can clearly see, my concern is not that daily more scaffolding goes up on this development but why it is going up.From the very start of our concerns, and Strongvox coming and inspecting the roof and coping stones told us there was no problem, it was, and I quote COSMETIC.In all it took almost three years before work finally began on our roof.If , the directors of Strongvox have doubts about the authenticity of this, take a look at the copy of OUR surveyors report which we sent to you, which thereafter wheels were put in motion and work began on our house. What an abysmal reply from Strongvox, I have noticed on your reviews that people who feel they can only give you one star do not even get a reply from you, that tells me a lot about the type of company you are, great long replies to people who say how wonderful you are, but to anyone who dares to say anything against you, you have no reply. I can only say what, in my experience,I have gone through in buying a house from such a company as yours. Here we are again almost five years when we started to have serious concerns about our house and its defects, we once again have problems with our roof. It’s been repaired twice now, each time no affect at all, in fact the cracks have opened up along the coping stones worse than they were before, to date 2025 we are waiting for yet another inspection to see what is causing the movement. This has turned out to be an absolute nightmare with no help at all from Strongvox, what an absolute sham of a company.

Ok houses, but little or no interest in supporting customers after completion

Saturday morning and life is good in our 12-13 month old Wedmore Grange Strongvox home. Until we find we can't get into our manual opening garage door. Our only access is from the outside, so bit of a dilemma! Quick internet search suggests it may be the handle mechanism is jammed. Numerous sites saying don't force it, it's a job for an engineer. No problem, I'll pop to sales office onsite, explain, and get an approval to go ahead with using a call out service to gain access. This is where my morning goes wrong.

Is the salesperson interested? No.
Can they give me approval? No
Do they offer any kind of assistance? No
Might they be able to call someone to get approval or advice? No
What should I do? Contact customer services on Monday. That is, you the house purchaser to contact them, since I'm not going to assist you in anyway. And, I also don't have any phone numbers to contact anyone to see if I might or how to help you. Remarkably, I am all alone in this little site office with no means of external communication. Oh, and also I don't care if you can't get into your garage, not my problem.

Said salesperson may not have been able to do anything, but what is really disappointing here is the lack of understanding, empathy and willingness to do anything at all. Even if just - there really is nothing I can do right now, even though I appreciate how frustrating and inconvenient the situation is. There is also no one I can call to get advice, until Monday (even though when you bought the house on a Saturday I was able to ring finance director to approve your offer...), BUT I will take this problem on for you now, and not leave it entirely in your hands. I will, somehow, ensure customer services contacts you first thing on Monday to hopefully resolve as quickly as possible.

Come on Strongvox. Enable your staff to want to solve problems, give them the tools to solve problems, enable them to help your customers.

Above describes one particular incident Saturday 18 June 2022. But equally I could have related others. It would seem Strongvox very good at the sales process, but not good or interested in assisting their customers once you've moved in.

Overall, disappointed

Monday morning update - good initial experience with Strongvox Customer Care. Voicemail left with them just after 8am, and just after 8.30am they called back, and we have agreed a resolution whereby Strongvox will contact their contractor, and request engineer visit to assess and fix ASAP. On this occasion I felt I was listened to, my issue understood, and the staff member was taking ownership of the problem.

Strongvox - the moral here is it's not the "fault or defect" that causes issues (most of us accept these things do happen), but the way in which customer interactions are handled and resolved.

Overall, much less disappointed!

Poor after sale service and customer care

We moved into our property on the Wedmore Grange development in Sept 2021.

Whilst the initial experience in dealing with Strongvox is great, it falls apart after sale.

We have a vast amount of issues still outstanding. Alarmingly nails coming through the rear fence that Strongvox have just left without action after highlighting risk to kids playing outside which is now over 6 months outstanding.

Many issues raised in 1st two weeks still outstanding and a constant cycle of work people arriving to fix the listed issues only to advise they cannot.

After 9 months, I would not say we would be 1st to recommend. Very attentive pre sale and then things fall apart.

Cold and Damp

We moved into our home in Wedmore in June 2021 and the sales process was positive. However, shortly after moving in and putting pictures on the walls we had mould spread from ALL external walls behind all pictures, new and old (it's a shame I can't add pictures to this review - see my google one). The mould extended the length and width of all pictures and spread through the frames and the pictures/prints themselves, which are now damaged.
Whilst Strongvox have covered the mould on the walls, they refuse to investigate it thoroughly (I was promised an examination by an accredited expert, but this ended up being moisture readings taken by a Strongvox employee, who had never used the tool before) or compensate us properly for the damage caused (I was offered one quarter of what it will cost me to replace the pictures, it has never been explained why I should take three quarters of the responsibility). The site team repeatedly told us they had never seen anything like this before. The issue is indicative of poor insulation, which would also explain why parts of the house are cold, particularly for a new build. I have given Strongvox over 2 months to resolve the issue before writing this review, which they have not done.

We are very sorry to read this review and hear of your disappointment.
We have fully cleaned the mould present on the walls where the pictures were displayed and this has not returned which indicates there is no damp issue. Guidance on moisture in new homes during the drying phase which details mould may occur where airflow is restricted i.e. behind pictures was also provided to you.

We have fully investigated your report, provided full as-built details and carried out a moisture test and confident there is no damp present in your property. A gesture offer of a contribution towards your pictures that regrettably were damaged has been made but declined.

The initial welcome pack was excellent, and the quality is proving to be equally as good especially as we have purchased new builds before and this is not always the case.

Terrible sales experience and ridiculous lease agreement

Recently had a terrible sales experience when trying to buy an apartment plot 55 at Laurel Hill. I ended up pulling out due to:
1. Complete failure to mention "pet/animal" ban at the beginning of the purchase process. I had only found out about this during the "reservation checklist" appointment, some four weeks after property was reserved.
2. The lease terms which are just, in my opinion, unreasonably restrictive without any justification provided and, therefore unacceptable. They even forbid putting stuff on your balcony (including clothes drying rack)!
3. The unwillingness to negotiate terms of sale/lease. Every query was met with a stern "no".
4. The misleading information around the size of the property, which changed multiple times: from 880 sqft during my property reservation, to "809 sqft without balcony" during my "reservation checklist" and to finally "809 sqft with balcony" based on the information rudely provided by the Strongvox solicitor. One hundred square feet less than promised is a lot!
5. The misleading/incomplete information around what sort of flooring would be provided. This again changed throughout the course of my interaction between sales team and solicitors.
6. And even just the fact that the sales advisor did not have any useful information and stuff she did tell me was either plain wrong or misleading. Every time I asked even the most basic question, I was directed to my solicitor to get an answer. Ridiculous.
Apparently, the previous buyer pulled out because they did not get their mortgage approved (sales advisor's words). I think not, I bet the pulled out for the same reasons as me. Do not recommend.
UPDATE TO REPLY: No, NONE of these limitations were mentioned, until I read them myself in a copy of the lease agreement. The pet ban was ONLY mentioned once, some 4 weeks after I reserved, towards the end of the reservation checklist, as if it was completely unimportant. I lost over £1k on this botched deal and I wish you had the dignity to apologise, but clearly no, instead you prefer to deflect my criticism in your reply.

We are sorry to hear of your experience. Our Leasehold apartments at Laurel Hill, in line with all new build apartments, necessarily have some restrictions on them for the benefit of all residents, so that they can enjoy a tidy and peaceful environment in their new home. We include restrictions such as pet clauses and not being allowed to hang washing on apartment balconies as an example. Most buyers of a new flat would not expect to have neighbours with a dog, or who hang washing out on a balcony within a new development. These Leasehold restrictions were politely and clearly pointed out more than once, very early in your buying process with the pet clause being made clear very quickly. We are sorry that you decided not to buy on our development, however all our other customers support and follow these restrictions for their own peaceful enjoyment of their properties, as well as that of their neighbours. Best wishes, Jennifer

We have recently moved in to our new house at Wedmore Grange , as purchasers of a newly constructed home for the first time . This journey with Strongvox has been , and continues to be , a positive experience. Kate and Laura in the sales team were friendly and informative from the start and kept in regular contact with us throughout the whole buying process . They always listened to us and did their very best to empathise and deal with all of our requests in a timely and efficient manner . Now we are in occupation of our home , we are experiencing exactly the same level of personal attention via the SV customer service regime . Chris and Dom are very supportive and attentive in helping us resolve the inevitable teething problems associated with a new build and all of their on-site personnel and subcontracting team are friendly , prompt and efficient. We feel like an appreciated member of the Strongvox family . Long may it continue .
