A few problems
Cooker wouldn’t work, trip switch for oven had switched off. Top oven didn’t have a grill pan that fitted. TV in lounge wouldn’t work. Batteries were dead and used the batteries from bedroom tv. Easily checked before each booking. TV is far too small, could barely see the screen. All windows, except bedroom skylight and dining room fanlight, could not be opened. H&S?Although clean, not to deep clean standards for covid.
Bedroom best room in house and quant. Garden is lovely to sit out in and good for the dog.

Avoid this Company.
Stayed at Moles Meadow described as being in peaceful Middleton Village. It was not, it’s right on the B1122 Yoxford Road which is an extremely busy rat run from A12. Traffic noise starts before 6am after which it’s impossible to sleep.
On arrival, property was dirty, filthy bathroom, faeces on the floor, toothpaste on the vanity unit, filthy shower, stench of urine. Kitchen was also filthy, cooker full of grease, finger marks everywhere, dishwasher had food remains in bottom etc etc Place simply had not been cleaned, never mind cleaned to Covid standards.
No reply from Suffolk Secrets emergency number, and no contact details if owners.
So, went to buy disinfectant & cleaning materials and cleaned kitchen & bathroom before we could use them.
Following morning, tried their offices, but they were closed, so after unbelievably long wait, managed to contact Suffolk Secrets by phone. Promised to send someone round to clean, so we agreed to be out of the property. It was a cursory wipe at best, and cleaner even left filthy face mask.
We then continually tried to contact SS by email & eventually gave up & went home. Full details including photographs sent to SS, whereupon SS offered a token amount which we refused and in accordance with their terms & conditions we asked for owners details. In breach of their own conditions, they refused. We then applied to our Credit Card Company for a chargeback refund, which we obtained for the nights we didn’t stay.
Thoroughly disreputable Company, appalling communications, misleading descriptions and dire customer service. Avoid at all costs.
Addendum following comment from Suffolk Secrets.
“Housekeeper, who did return to the property to undertake a re-clean” To call a cursory swab round the floor a “re-clean” is at best inaccurate, and you were advised the property was still filthy, and, the cleaner had left a dirty face mask on the kitchen worktop. “we had the opportunity to provide a gesture of goodwill”, I have received no monies directly from you, I had to make a claim via my Credit Card Company. You breached your own Terms & Conditions by refusing to provide the owners details.
“We take any complaint extremely seriously and we expect all our properties to meet and maintain the high standards that we pride ourselves on.” Complete nonsense. You didn’t take the complaint seriously, the property clearly was not of a satisfactory standard, and it was impossible to contact you.

Bad experience
The apartment we rented for a week was listed as a "first-floor apartment". The images and description did not mention that there was another apartment above.
This was the first family holiday with my wife, newborn and 2 year old.
There was no soundproofing throughout the property meaning the footsteps and noise from above continuously woke up my children. Without exaggeration, the noise was horrendous and this completely ruined the holiday.
Had the description been accurate, I would not have rented this property.
I have attempted to complain to Suffolk Secrets who have so far been completely dismissive.
Extremely disappointed in this poor customer service and aftercare.
A matter of priority!
Following your reply of 26th May to my recent review I have heard nothing despite completing and sending to you the extra information ie my booking number so you could confirm I was a genuine customer. I take issue with your reply where you state that having now been made aware that I didn’t have the usual Suffolk secrets experience you were keen to take immediate action. This is despite my review stating that not only had I been into your Southwold office but had made two further phone calls I have still heard nothing from the company you keep repeating cares about the customer and takes every complaint seriously. It must have been obvious what booking I was as Christmas Cottage was a neglected property and no doubt has not been booked for a long time. Despite all other Suffolk Secrets properties we have stayed in over the past two years having all books and games removed due to covid this was not the case. It did however have no information about WiFi appliances etc and no heating due to the boiler located in the attic being off-line. The maintenance man told us that housekeeping would put the heating on when they arrived and if it hadn’t heated up would report it. This was clearly not the case indeed the property had not been cleaned. I am not going to carry on with my long list of issues. You have a copy of them from my visit to your Office and I have had to repeat and add to them twice. Due to the coldness of the bank holiday weekend I have been ill and am being investigated for having an autoimmune disease triggered. It is ongoing I have had flare ups and been too unwell to contact you before now. When will you follow up what do I have to do to get a response. How dare you say you pride yourself on high standards. Karen Davies

Should have been a 4/5 review but…
Should have been a 4/5 review but turned into a 2/3 as the property had an unusably ensuite. While this is more the responsibility for the property owner to sort, it was very clear from the visitor book that this had been reported to Suffolk Secrets back last year. The fault remains months later but the facility is still advertised. It feels that sufficient time has elapsed for this problem to be rectified.

Nice cottage but could be improved
Generally very good cottage in lovely village. Nice garden totally secure for dog. 2 pubs within 400m. Good fish restaurant in village. Could be improved by provision of garden chairs/loungers and better storage for food and clothes

A gem of a cottage.
Just had a lovely week at Harvest Loft in Great Glemham. The loft was beautiful, very clean and had all the amenities that you could wish for. A nice welcome from the owner Karen and lovely welcoming pack. It's in a great location for travelling to many places along the A12 North or South.

Headmasters house
Reasonably furnished and stocked- lovely welcome pack. Unfortunately shower fitting on bath didn’t function and smell from drains permeated whole house. On outskirts of Reydon so need a car to get to any amenities such as shops and just too far to walk comfortably into Southwold

Millers Cottage, Could of been cleaner but generally a comfortable stay
Stayed at Millers Cottage, Woodbridge. Excellent location, close to everything in Woodbridge. Generally comfortable although a thorough clean would of made it more comfortable. Conservatory is light and a good size, garden quiet and not overlooked. Our dog enjoyed his holiday! Even though very dog friendly that's no excuse for a lack of cleanliness throughout

Lovely property on the edge of a rural village. The property is equipped to a high standard with everything you might need. Although dogs must be on a lead outside the property is dog friendly and the villlage pub has excellent food which is also very dog friendly.

Great house for a large group
The house is in an ideal position for the centre of the village and a very short walk to the coast. Having 10 bedrooms we had ample room for the 10 of us and the dog. The 2 kitchens and 2 lounges also gave us all room to spread out and not be living on top of each other. The house is fully stocked with every thing you would need for the stay and there was not anything we felt it was missing. Very clean throughout.
