Beautiful, but a bit substandard in plumbing and sanitary matters
As we mentioned in the review to the owners, this property has a lot of potential, but needs updating in plumbing facilities and bathrooms. After 15-20 years of use, the owner should have made enough money to afford a decent makeover. Both bathrooms are a joke and we had the great misfortune that the kitchen tap oozed a constant loud drip audible throughout the open plan ground floor. They definitely need a new cleaning service as nonchalantly draped cleaning clothes and left animal dropping were not the best of sights nor recommendations for whoever rushed through to clean. This place must have been very nice when first open to holidaymakers, we hope it can be again.
Worst experience since 1980's
We have used SS before so had no qualms about rebooking. The Little House, Woodbridge was the worst rented cottage experience since the 1980's. Billed as family friendly, there were trailing flexes. steps galore, narrow, high stairs, overgrown garden. That is before we saw rotting food in drawers, a filthy hob, dust everywhere, a handful of hair in the shower drain, light limited by filthy windows. We have pics to back this up. There was the complete mis-representation of a caravan=sized shower as a shower room [1 step took you from loo past basin and into shower]. And it smelt awful.
The after hours service was non-existent. We had to go into the office on Monday to speak to a person with whom we left a list of 16 points covering dirt and lack of safety. Some compensation was transferred into our account but what we wanted was answers. We have been back for over 2 weeks, and despite 3 emails which included further unsatisfactory points discovered since our office visit, and actually speaking to a person on the phone we have had no acknowledgement and no answers.
To be fair SS did send a cleaner in our absence, but they had no key, and we did see the handyman who was helpful as far as he could, and one cleaner, but by then we had done the cleaning ourselves. It was impossible to be there and not clean.
This company must have serious problems - just don't use them until this sort of review stops.
Snuggle at Larksfield Snug
Stayed at Larksfield Snug - everything you could think of, Alison and Richard have made sure is there. From a Cream tea in the fridge on arrival, to kitchen roll and tea and coffee, travel guides and games. Easy to find and well placed for touring and walking. Lovely welcoming owners and gorgeous Pippin the dog.
Definitely recommend staying here
I would not use Suffolk Secrets.
I would not use SS. I booked Drift Cottage Walberswick for a 70th birthday celebration for friends and family. My husband and I contracted covid 2 days prior to the trip and cancelled. The T&Cs state cancellations can be transferred with owners agreement which is an incentive when booking. Considering there were lots of spaces through the winter (we were flexible & prepared to take whatever empty weekend was offered) it would have been a kind goodwill gesture to accommodate us through one of their quiet months. This wasn’t cheap, over £1000 for 4 nights. The owner declined stating short notice and we could still go according to the guidelines. Of course we wouldn’t be so selfish to pass it on to our 70 year age group friends who we invited. We were bed ridden and not up to travelling either. I feel along with the huge disappointment it left a bad taste - people aren’t nice. Business and money rule! I also feel SS should have influence and their own set of rules for their rental owners. Without their customers there would be no business. It seems we are unimportant , not priority. Use one of the many other more accommodating agencies who put customers first.
A cosy little cottage stay
A comfortable, warm, clean well equipped little cottage. The double bed would benefit from a mattress topper as its quite firm, but thats a matter of taste. Ideal for a couple or young family but note the rear yard is not enclosed so children or pets cannot be outdoors on their own.

Lowestoft Holiday Rental
Lowestoft Holiday home rental through Suffolk Secrets was a really good choice. The holiday cottage company was great with their communication: any queries were answered quickly and accurately. I had full trust in Suffolk Secrets during the booking process and the reality of the house did not disappoint. In some respects the holiday home exceeded expectations. I thorough recommend Lowestoft as a holiday destination as it has a beautiful beach and is cheaper than some of it's fancier neighbours. Also recommend Suffolk Secrets and would definitely book through this company again.

Fabulous apartment in a quiet, convenient location
Beautifully decorated apartment in a quiet and convenient location. It was only a 10 to 15 minute walk to the main street in Aldeburgh. In the kitchen there was an abundance of utensils and crockery. Right next to the property was a footpath which was perfect for taking the dog for walks. We would stay in this property again.

A good time was had by all
The experience of booking the holiday and receiving information prior to the holiday was efficient and helpful. Fortunately we did not need to contact the booking agents whilst we were on holiday but details were available should we have needed to do so.

Suffolk Secrets going downhill
Like others we have rented properties from Suffolk Secrets in the past and been very satisfied. However, the house we rented last week while beautifully located and very well equipped was badly maintained and dirty, and had several electrical and security faults. We had to wait over and hour to gain access with small kids in tow and we got no response to the out of hours phone number even the following day.
They did finally get the locks repaired and the filthy oven was cleaned and the overgrown garden tidied but only after we had contacted the owner. Many issues weren't dealt with including some very stiff door handles which caused a lot of distress particularly to the children.
We were offered a derisory amount in compensation and will not be using or recommending this company again.

Suffolk Secrets gone down hill
We have stayed with Suffolk Secrets properties a few times. Sadly I think it has gone downhill massively. We had a really bad experience staying in a cottage in Southwold a couple of weeks ago. Broken furniture, dirty etc... Worse still we sent a couple of emails to them to outline the issues we had (there were quite a few) but have received no response at all.
We would not recommend and won't be using them again.
*Updated Note: It is worth noting that Suffolk Secrets only response to me comes on a public forum. We still have not heard anything back from Suffolk Secrets directly. Not even to acknowledge receipt of our complaints. We contacted them during our stay and again after.
Sadly this generic feedback on a public forum does not help us with a spoiled holiday, give me any confidence that any feedback is well received or lead me to believe they care about customer satisfaction in any way.

We had the misfortune of booking…
We had the misfortune of booking through Suffolk Secrets and choosing Starlings in Yoxford. Both a big mistake.
Upon arrival noted multiple issues with the plumbing. Dangerous temperature of hot water. Noted mutliple times in the visitor book.
No hot water to ground floor shower, no hot water coming out of utility tap, bath fixture broken which made it very difficult to bath the children.
Also unfit for use roasting tins and trays which were heavily rusted and a poorly equipped kitchen.
We advised the Southwold office on Saturday.
On Sunday they chose to send one of their Jack of all trades property managers who subsequently broke the bath tap unit but successfully addressed the hot water provision to the bottom shower and utility tap. But failed to reduce the dangerous hot water temp.
Although we handed over the not fit for use kitchenware to the property manager on Sunday he advised new ones could be provided the following day.
They weren't. It wasn't until Wednesday afternoon another person arrived with a replacement iron which had been left broken in the property and a roasting tray but no roasting tin.
This was annoying as we had already purchased a loin of pork a £60 outlay. Despite having made the effort to go into the Southwold branch on Tuesday and advising we had already purchased the pork and would need to cook it by Wednesday.
Here we are on our last night being Thursday and nothing has been provided!
We have also had three sleepness nights with the bath free flowing cold water thanks to the first property manager breaking the taps completely.
For the last 3 days we have had to use a wrench to try and get cold water out of the tap and try and turn it off without success.
We have had 3 plumber visits during our 6 night stay severely disrupting our stay and plans during the day.
We have had multiple phonecalls with various members of the Suffolk Secrets team all who have no ability to provide any assistance other than organising a plumber, we visited their office in Southwold 3 members of staff were present the managers remain out of contact and refusing to engage or rectify any issues or provide any compensation.
Like many other totally disassistfied customers we have not experienced the imaginery high levels of service they spout off that they provide in the generic responses.
As they breached the Consumer Goods and Services Act by failing to provide the accommodation with full use of the services and facilities we will be taking this matter further unless compensation is forthcoming before we are due to leave tomorrow.
All these issues were present on arrival so there is no deniablity they are at fault and negligent in their duty so should be providing the 50% discount requested. The couches in the property do not meet fire regulations for rental properties as they are ancient and according to the visitors book have been complained about repeatedly since 2017 along with complaints about the dangerous hot water and poorly equipped kitchen.
Every room has spiders and well established cob webs.
Someone else's hairbrush and hairclip found in a bedroom.
The bath clearly hadn't been cleaned properly as the shower over the bath didn't work until today the night before we leave.
Stones were found in the washing machine which I removed before using.
The freezer desperately needs to be defrosted and is missing the bottom drawer.
The oven is missing the basic grill and roasting tray.
I can only recommend you do not book with Suffolk Secrets and look elsewhere.

I hate writing poor reviews
I hate writing poor reviews. This cottage is in a fantastic location with a view of the beach and sea from the lovely living room on the first floor.
However what is not obvious from the photos or description is that the downstairs bedroom is overlooked on both sides by shared courtyards. During the day someone hanging washing from the house on the right can see straight into the bedroom, there is no net curtain. There was also noise from a builder working in the other courtyard on three days.
Parking can be tricky as the marked bays outside are 4 hours only during 8am to 6pm. There is an all day car park at Fort Green and there are some free unmarked spaces on Crag Path if you hunt for them.
It was not our best holiday, spoilt by the noise and lack of privacy downstairs, hence the 1 star.
