The Sunflow System 6 weeks later

I would strongly caution anyone thinking of having this heating system installed to think again. Since installation even with my new electricity tarrif my payments have increased to a prohibitive level.
The only document that I have received from this company states boldly that it is the most important document that I will get from them. In the bottom right corner is the cost for instalation with a request that if I look inside the document there will be a break down of this cost. Inside my document there is simply the size of radiators and a note to say that I will be changing my electricity tarrif. My phone call to the company requesting a copy of this missing breakdown has so far yielded no further correspondence.
The installer spent less than two minutes initiating me into the very complicated workings of the controllers. So, as he said, not to blind me with science. It took me considerably more than two minutes to work out how to properly work this complicated device.
I had read in the literature provided about this intelligent system. Intelligence, as was my understanding implied an ability to understand, even think and learn so I was surprised to discover that each controller required 2 AA batteries in order for the information to be set. Kind of like putting the batteries in a child's toy to make it go. Quite possible that once the battery had used up its charge the information may be lost. Intelligent?
It is easy, especially in these times, to be seduced by the friendly voice on the phone line and the glossy brochure advocating this system. And also by the sales rep who will repeat all the attributes about the system without mention of the increased running costs, the complicated controllers, the required AA batteries,the lack of after care, proper breakdown of costs etc. In fact, if you don't ask the questions you will not be given the answers. And, you know, at least in my case, it is a misconception that if we can afford to have this system installed then we don't need to know the true cost to our budget.
The radiators may be state of the art and the technology green and all the other amazing attributes stated in the brochure, your friends, like mine will be mightly impressed. And it may be that you have an endless supply of money to finance this venture and a never ending supply of AA batteries and maybe a younger family member to adjust the controllers should you get into difficulty. Just maybe it is the sytem for you, it certainly wasn't for me.

Thank you leaving your review, although it was very disappointing to read that you clearly felt compelled to leave such a poor review which in no way reflects what Sunflow are rightly proud of, and that is an excellent state of the art product with excellent controls and support from everyone on the team. I think it is unfair and misleading that you choose the power of the Trustpilot platform to make such sweeping and frankly unfounded assertions about Sunflow for all to read. WE DO NOT MISLEAD at ANY stage of sales and are AWLAYS there to help and clarify. Over 20,000 installations in the UK are a testament to that.
I believe I too have the right to a robust defense to your assertions.
If you would like to share your electricity bill data with us, we will surely be able to guide you as to how to better programme your heating, which can be the ONLY reason that you have experienced a hike in your costs. Of that we are certain.
Part of the challenge may well be your difficulty in getting to grips with the wireless thermostat. A few customers do find it difficult to programme using the detailed manual, and it is for this reason that we have a comprehensive set of videos on our website where users can, in their own time , pausing as many times and for however long they want, see how any aspect of the programming can be set or changed.
You highlight the use of batteries being an issue. By the very nature of the word 'wireless', this means the thermostat is run on battery power. The batteries should last 2 years, and the screen of the thermostat gives clear advance warning weeks before the batteries need to be changed. This too is a simple process, by opening the small battery container on the back cover (much like many modern battery powered devices) and replacing the batteries. No programming will be lost as long as the new batteries are inserted within minutes of taking out the old set.
With regards to documentation, we supply a full pack of support documentation and details of your purchase, and recommend that this is kept by the customer for future reference and, perhaps more importantly, to pass onto any new owners of the property should the customer choose to sell, as the guarantees are transferred to the new owner by default for the remaining time o the guarantees.

Eight-year-old SUNFLOW Radiators

In early 2012, my engineer son encouraged us to move away from heating our house with fossil fuels and recommended, as it is less polluting, electric heating. Later that year we bought 13 German designed radiators from SUNFLOW backed up by PV panels on the roof and this combination has proved surprisingly economic over the years. Our 13 SUNFLOW radiators have been exceptionally reliable and have provided a comfortable heat over the 8 years: with our only failure occurring this year (September 2020). The failure was in a 500W radiator in our hallway which has been permanently on full heat for the full 8 years (less of course hot summers days) to provide a soft ambient heat throughout the main thoroughfares of the house. On discovering the failure, we were able to swap over this radiator with one in a spare bedroom without losing any heating capacity. We immediately phoned SUNFLOW, now making updated British versions of our heaters, to quote for a replacement device. SUNFLOW were incredibly helpful and suggested that, rather than buy another heater, they send an engineer to repair our 8-year-old machine. We were asked whether we had our original guarantee, but this was nowhere to be found. The Engineer came, replaced the control panel with a better upgraded version and the old heater, good as new, was back in use within minutes. SUNFLOW honoured the missing guarantee and we could not be more pleased with their efficient and friendly service.

High quality, British made radiators.

I chose this company because they manufacture their radiators in Britain. I would recommend them because they offer high quality radiators and excellent customer service.
I had 4 radiators installed 2 years ago and I have been so pleased with them that I have recently had the rest of my cottage converted from gas central heating to Sunflow electric radiators. The surveyor was very knowledgeable and helpful and in no way “pushy”
I was offered a very good discount and paid less per radiator than I did two years ago.
The engineers, Rob and Rikki, arrived on time and were polite and efficient, the installation took less time than anticipated, despite the challenges that an old cottage threw at them.
I am delighted with my new heating system, each room can be controlled separately, there is no boiler to service and no noisy, water filled radiators to contend with. I have had one radiator put on castors because I couldn’t decide which wall to use and I can move it around. Brilliant!
I would thoroughly recommend Sunflow. Thank you.

One dissatisfied prospective customer is one too many, but I do think your review is a little harsh.
I guess you called our Customer Experience line direct rather than ask for a brochure or survey as I cannot find you on our system.
Here is our response to your review, which I trust anyone reading it will understand:
We will always price range if someone asks.
Why price range?
Unless someone can tell us the m3 of the space they want to heat, we cannot really recommend which of our radiators is going to be the most efficient and effective for that space. We have plenty of options. Hence we give a price range if approximate or exact measurements are not at hand. We are more than happy to give an indicative quote for a project. This doesn't require a survey visit, and there is no obligation attached. Just a healthy dollop of information to consider.
We are certainly NOT the kind of company who is.....only interested in getting a foot in the door...
Never has been and never will be our way.

Sunflow Ltd. have given excellent customer service throughout the process of surveying, quoting, fabricating and installing my new heating system. The surveyor, office staff and engineers have been conscious of my needs especially during the difficult time during lock-down due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and expedited my order so that everything was installed in very good time for the autumn and winter here in the Highlands of Scotland. Only time will tell whether the radiators do their stuff but will write another review once they have been pressed into service. The quote and ultimate cost of my new system was extremely competitive and I did not feel pressured into making a decision to purchase. Lastly the fact that these radiators are maufactured here in the UK is a big plus point for me. Thank you Sunflow....I will keep you posted!

Very Happy

This is a great company and we have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them to anyone considering changing their heating. The fitters arrived promptly ( they even rang on the motorway to say they’d be with us within the hour) The radiators look modern and stylish throughout the house and we are particularly pleased with the app, which will enable us to control the settings whilst we are away. Thank you so much for a fabulous service from start to finish!

This company replaced all my old…

This company replaced all my old radiators with theirs in 2017. They took out my old gas boiler and all the piping. I was assured that my bills would reduce but they have rocketed. All the wall temperature gauges are too high so I can't see them; they were put in by a 7ft giant. I still find some rooms are either too hot or too cold and my bills have gone through the roof. Sadly, I would not recommend this company to anyone even though the idea of their heaters makes sense and should be cheaper.

i use Sunflow radiators

i have been using SUNFLOW radiators for a couple of years now and in reflection I should have written a review before this. The installation work could only be classified as first class i.e. arrival time spot on, tidy workers, no mess, and mannerly. I have over a two year period contacted their office for advice because I had lost the pamphlet that comes with the radiator and found out that their office staff were just as mannerly and kind and patient when giving me instructions. A summation of this short review is I would recommend the company and their heaters when one has to change their heater installation. Thanks again

I have been using Sunflow heaters for over 8 years now and have nothing but praise for them. They provide gentle background heat and can be programmed to maintain an ambient temperature to within half a degree of accuracy.
I have a 1901 Bluthner grand piano in the music room, which has befitted greatly from a constant 24 hours a day low level heating and as a result has become so much easier to maintain and holds its pitch remarkably well now.
Although the initial outlay was quite high, you can say in this case that, 'you get what you pay for' and really are worth every penny I invested in them.
Sometimes I require a little assistance to reset the thermostat/ timer on the electronic one I have, but this is never a great problem as I can always ring the office and they're always patient and happy to give me clear guidance on how to reset.
I can strongly recommend this type of heater to anyone and for me and my family it has proven to be a really sensible thing to invest in.

Does what it says on the tin!…

The surveyor explained everything very clearly. Fitting appointment was very quick and the fitters were brilliant.All done in two days no mess, really nice guys.
Heaters work well although we are still getting to grips with settings but that is about us deciding what we want rather than the system.

Feedback on radiators supplied by Sunflow Ltd

The salesman who came to measure up explained the workings of the radiators. Surprised we had to pay a deposit immediately with apparently no option firstly to ‘have a think about’ the cost which seemed quite expensive. Presumably we were expected to buy. We were informed of a time lapse of around 4 weeks before installation.
After 4 weeks we rang the salesman who said he would contact head office to discuss a date. No joy so eventually we rang head office and were given an installation date a few weeks later.
The installation was to be in the morning but a phone call that morning said the installers would arrive in the afternoon. A little annoying as we had risen early!
The installers were very thorough and tidied up after them. A comprehensive explanation of the workings was given and initial settings made.
Although the radiators work well they do not seem to be able to reach the set temperature very quickly and when they do the radiators go cold thus giving out no heat. This was what happened with our old radiators but we were assured that with these new ones this would not be the case and that consistent radiant heat would be kept with only occasional topping up.

So pleased that we chose Sunflow

So pleased that we chose Sunflow. We needed old storage heaters replaced with radiators in my elderly mothers apartment. From the first visit we felt confident. Staff were helpful, knowledgable and they perfectly understood our needs. A member of staff gave us his name and assured us that we could call him if any queries and this personal touch was much appreciated. We were kept fully informed as radiators were made and dates were set.
Installation team were on time, efficient pleasant and very helpful. Radiators only installed today but they look great and we are sure that we made the right choice.

Really nice people to deal with

Really nice people to deal with, from the first contact with the company to the completion of the job. Every appointment was on time, everyone I dealt with was friendly and courteous. No pushy sales people. The old heaters were removed, new ones fitted and everything was left neat and tidy. Very pleased with the choice I made ordering from Sunflow.

Energy performance very poor

I can assure you that you have the most energy efficient electric radiators you could have bought. 100% efficient at point of use. As you may be aware the EPC ratings take into account a broad set of considerations of the energy efficiency of your whole living space. The EPC rating system has always favoured the use of fossil fuels for heating. Using electricity was seen as a negative because of the use of coal powered electricity power stations. The use of coal to generate electricity has now dwindled to almost nothing. Most of the major utility suppliers use renewable sources for their energy provision to us, the consumer. Unfortunately, the EPC system has still not caught up. However, in April next year we are assured that new parameters will be published where electric heating will be at least on a par with fossil fuels. That will significantly improve the EPC rating.
In the meantime, please rest assured that you ARE getting very efficient heat.
