Left Us Stranded
Left stranded in Cuba when their systems went down with zero communication. Had to sleep on the floor in the lobby of the hotel. The next morning there was still no news and no Sunwing rep available, no answer from their online system so we booked flights on the next available AC flight home. We sued in Small Claim Court, had our Settlement Hearing and Sunwing refused to give us what is owning under the APPR. We are waiting for our date in court. You’re not above the law Sunwing! AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
My wife and I booked a vacation last…
My wife and I booked a vacation last week for our honeymoon. We did the same thing last year with Sunwing. We decided to book an all inclusive adult only vacation from the 14 to the 21st. We paid part of the trip from our bank account and the balance with UPLITF.
The deposit was taken from our bank and the UPLIFT loan was all set.
Yesterday the terrible experience begins. But first I should tell you we have invoices that show all is good, we have SUNWING reservation and hotel reservation that all is good.
First we get an e-mail...Sorry we have to inform you that we can't book you at your chosen hotel we HAVE booked you at RIU MontegoBay for the same amount.
THANKS A LOT this hotel in not at all what we want and is like 1000$ less???
But Thank you TRIPCENTRAL and SUNWING
Special Thanks SUNWING's president Mark Williams, sold his shares to WEST JET for a fortune and I certainly hope that one day you experienced what missing a wedding anniversary with someone you love means to a couple.
Talk to TRIPCENTRAL, sorry Tina but she says it's not TRIPCENTRAL fault. Than I ask if she was doing this free.... guest what they are not.
Than spoke with SUNWING they don'T give a F...
Worse ever holiday booking, even Tina told me I should have booked with Air Canada and not SUNWING.
Anyway they all make some kind of money on this trip but none are taking seriously.
It's not TRIPCENTRAL fault, it' not SUNWING fault...i guess it's our fault for trusting incompetent people in 2024. Now you ask why AI is going to replace you, absolutely no back bone like my mother says...take your weekly pay while you can.
Thanks again SUNWING and TRIPCENTRAL for your help in making sure our 30th anniversary was unforgettable. I will tell you something, not even unresponsible people like you will make my wife and I not enjoy our 30TH. I wish you all what you should get.

Vindictive customer service
There was a mistake on our booking that was within their power to help correct. Instead of providing basic customer service they refused to assist. It was incredibly disappointing and such a lack of class.
I recommend using a travel agent and not using Sunwing for anything.
A simple word to describe the experience: TRASH
Over-fueled the plane .. one giant delay due to incompetence
Stuck on the tarmac in a crowded plane for over two hours because they over fueled the plane ?? What a gong show of an air line
The Worst Experience
The Worst Experience. Family spend over $50k on Dreams Resort Natura. I booked my trip for Dreams Resort Aventura - accidentally - as the names are so similar (absolutely my fault). I immediately contacted Sunwing re: the error. I explained the situation. The exact words: "Our hands are tied" "Nothing we can do" "Your fault" "non transferable - so you cannot sell either" "Even though both Dreams resorts..... they will not allow unless you buy another package worth $8,000" "you cannot just get a hotel room". I will now have to travel 2 hours a day to meet up with my family at Dreams Natura - when I am not even sure whether they will let me see my family at the resort. What a mess. In conclusion, horrible experience before I even get there. I paid top dollar for this travelling experience. There was no real deal. Approximately $8k.

Don’t need to write up a long report on Sun. Just don’t go with Sunwig. Horrible, horrible, horrible
abruptly ripped our boarding passes
On December 9th, my family, including my 6-month-old son and 3-year-old daughter, embarked on a SunWing Airlines trip, encompassing flights, transportation, and a 7-night stay at an all-inclusive hotel. Our group consisted of six adults and two children, forming three families.
The predicament unfolded on our return flight's check-in. Initially assigned seats in row 13 were abruptly reassigned to row 28 without notice. Despite my efforts to resolve this with supervisor America Paredes, it was revealed that someone had paid for our seats, leading to our displacement. I questioned the right of SunWing to sell our seats and suggested buying them back or receiving compensation.
The situation worsened when agent Marco Antonio tore our boarding passes, leading to police involvement at the airport security checkpoint. We were informed SunWing had overbooked the flight, unbeknownst to us. Attempts to seek clarification from agents America and Marco were futile, and another unnamed agent accused us of posing a safety threat, mentioning police involvement, potential imprisonment, and terrorism. Recording attempts were met with threats of arrest, but I managed to capture Marco's threat.
Forced to rebook independently, the subsequent WestJet travel was uneventful, highlighting issues specific to SunWing. This experience was deeply traumatizing. Marco, America, and the unnamed agent displayed shocking and inhumane behavior, treating us like criminals without regard for our well-being. Selling seats for extra profit at the expense of safety is unacceptable.
Beyond the financial loss, feeling threatened and being accused of terrorism exacerbated the impact. I implore SunWing to promptly and thoroughly address this matter. The unprofessional conduct of its agents reflects poorly on the company's reputation. As a Canadian, feeling like a criminal in a foreign country, especially by agents representing a Canadian company, is disheartening. SunWing must ensure the professionalism of its employees and prioritize the safety of its Canadian customers abroad.
The worst customer service
The worst customer service. I had to cancel my trip 6 days before departure. I had a very bad accident. I paid a 49$ free worrie cancelation and the customer service said exactly that if something happens and you cancel the trip, you definitely get your money back.Guees what.. they dont give nothing back. They give you a pass for at least 1 year and if you not go then another 6 months and then you loose you money.
Going home a bit of a nightmare
The getting to the resort was fine. Although we had a wake-up call by the SunWing agent at the resort at 8am, 7am Ontario time, to inform us of a meeting at 10am. They could really just let people know when they are around without having to wake people up early on a holiday morning. The meeting was very brief as we had no interest in any excursions.
Going home was terrible.
A 45-minute bus ride from resort to Punta Cana airport. The lineup was at least two-hours long-- I guess because SunWing booked several flights to all depart close together. We jumped the line because we told a SunWing agent that we paid $100 extra and standing in line for one hour was challenging for me as I have lung cancer--both true statements. He checked with someone and moved us to the express line which still took 30-minutes.
Once we were checked in there was a further one-hour of line ups. Just short of three-hours of standing in lines and I am seated on the plane. I am not sure what I paid extra for because I do think this seat has only about one-centimeter more leg-room, not did it offer any earlier boarding or any other benefits (although there happened to be no one else sitting beside me). Amazingly we only left 15-minutes late. I am not sure how everyone got in the plane on time.
Also, no charging port for our phones

The very old hotel has been restored in its own way. But there is a lot missing. I do not recommend you to come in any way. The leftover food is always delivered the next day. The staff are good, but there is nothing they can do. When there is no coffee left, customers are told there is no coffee. He says bring your own coffee and let's do it. I would definitely recommend it elsewhere.
Terrible Experience with RIU/Sunwing: A Scam!
I recently had the unfortunate experience of booking a last-minute stay at the RIU SF through Sunwing, only to be scammed and left in a state of utter disbelief. Here's what happened:
Upon checking in the next day, I received the usual necessities like a bracelet and documents, feeling excited about my upcoming stay. However, my excitement quickly turned into frustration when, at around 3:30 PM, I was informed that my room had been inexplicably canceled by Sunwing.
To make matters worse, the staff at the hotel refused to investigate the reason behind the cancellation or even make a simple phone call to rectify the situation. In front of other guests, they callously cut off my bracelet and informed me that my reservation no longer existed. It was a shocking and humiliating experience, to say the least.
I tried to reason with them, showing them the charge from Sunwing on my card as proof of payment. However, they insisted that I would have to rebook with them at the front desk and, to add insult to injury, I was charged in pesos. The math didn't quite add up, but I felt trapped and helpless. What other choice did I have? Sleep on the streets?
To make matters even more frustrating, the RIU charged me an additional $350 for the three nights, on top of the payment I had already made to Sunwing. It has been a week since this ordeal, and neither Sunwing nor RIU has bothered to respond to my concerns or provide any sort of resolution. It's disheartening to realize that I may have fallen victim to a well-executed scam.
In conclusion, my experience with RIU/Sunwing has been nothing short of a nightmare. The abrupt cancellation of my room, the lack of assistance from the hotel staff, the unreasonable charges, and the complete absence of any response from both companies have left me feeling cheated and taken advantage of. It is clear to me now that this whole ordeal was nothing more than a carefully orchestrated scam. Beware of booking with RIU or Sunwing, unless you want to be subjected to a similar experience.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
I needed to make a change to my booking. Just change the date/hotel in the same city.
Well, it took my 5 phones to Sunwing speaking with multiple agents. Getting disconnected, transferred, put on hold over and over. Given conflicting information. Told that they only take in-bound calls, they will not call or email me. That there is no manager available to assist me -- everytime I called in. Was told that they can not help me as they are not authorized to and there is no one that can. I asked for contact information to some level of management and they told me to just leave a complaint on their website and someone will contact me in 30-60 days. The agents continued to talk over me and not listen to my concerns. I am speechless!!
After 8 hours and mulitpy phone calls I still do not have my problem resolved.
If there were a negative scale for…
If there were a negative scale for measure, it would certainly be rated correctly. At one time we had booked a vacation through Sunwing to Cuba and the exact same delays started … we were delayed several hours at the airport this time, when we finally sat at our seats, we learned Sunwing had doubled booked 36 couples on our flight! We continued to wait over 3 more hours u til all peoples seats were reissued and assigned. It was not a great flight over if you could imagine! When we arrived (4 hours behind schedule) we were told we cannot leave the plane and to remain seated as the ground crew was to “connect” to the plane??? We waited another 45 minutes. And of course it nice we got the go ahead to leave, the Stewards weren’t able to open the door. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!! Yes, the entire plane on WG577 were fit to be tied!
Upon our departure home iwhxih I am currently writing, we been notified of three delays, our initial
Departure was 2:20pm, then 2:40 and we were just notified for departure at 3:50 pm. I’ve contacted Sunwing and of course an automated reply of the usual responses as predicted. The public needs to boycott this company and drive it k to the ground. The service is poor the flights and delays are disgusting and frankly disappointing. We will
Not be flying Sunwing ever again and my how’s is this company will close down!
Really bad with Compensating
Really bad with Compensating
For the days lost on vancation because of there delay at first then technical issues and then they lie the next day and say it's because of safety reasons, so they don't have to give any money back and one day lost of vancation stuck at home.
Lost 1 hole day of vancation. On the way back home delayed again going back sitting at airport till 2am at night and had to check out of hotel with all are luggage at 11 lunch time. Had no idea where to go with my baby and all the luggage no room. Horrible.

Sunwings false advertising for Fantasy…
Sunwings false advertising for Fantasy Island Beach Resort in Roatan. We are presently staying at the Fantasy Island resort and will list the pros and cons..
Pros: nice beach and calm waters.
Great dive shop
Nice pool
Kayaks
Friendly monkey on site
Cons: It took over an hour to check us in. We were standing outside and got bitten by many mosquitoes while we waited to be checked in. We were not greeted with a fresh cocktail upon arrival as the brochure says. Luggage arrived on a separate truck almost two hours after arrival.
Food: Poor selection and cold. Long lines for the griddle. Slow to replenish empty food trays. No wine offered at dinner. Servers are lazy and slow to set up tables. With the exception of a young man called Earnel. He was very attentive in every way.
Drinks: Typical resort selections. However, if you need Diet Pepsi it is $2 usd. Bottled water is $3 usd. Oh and bring regular tea bags.
Accommodations: very old and tired. Badly need updating to 21st century.
Entertainment: Non existent. Karaoke advertised but didn’t happen. Bars close at 10pm. And no late night snacks available. Loud hip-hop music blasting from the lobby bar all day. Can’t sit in the lobby bar area and have a cocktail without being bitten by scores of mosquitoes.
Snack bar opened for one hour mid morning and one hour in the afternoon. Snack bar burgers were burned to a crisp and inedible. Wifi is available in lobby only, so if you need to access the wifi bring plenty of bug spray because the lobby is plagued by mosquitos. Reception lobby should be periodically fogged for mosquitos. Massage offered at $85 usd for one hour. Beach bar was closed most days.
To summarize it is definitely not worth the money and Sunwing should remove this resort from its offering. They are cutting corners in every way they can. It is beyond repair and should be torn down and rebuilt. No proper management or supervision. Sunwing rep was never around to answer questions. Don’t waste your hard earned money on this resort. I honestly think that some of the good reviews are fake.
Very bad experience on the plane
Very bad experience on the plane, flight WG 2743 from montreal to cancun.
The flight attendant Nathalie was very impolite and start to scream on me because I changed my seat.
Sunwing should give a course of costumer services for this non professional woman.
Sunwing plane trouble
My family went to Cayo Coco with Sunwing. We always take the 6:00 am flight to enjoy half of the day in the beach. The plane did not leave till 11:30 am. We were in the Tarmac ready to take off when the pilot noticed a problem with the engine . The plane returned to the parking for the engineers to repair it. They couldn’t. We had to change planes; however, by then the crew had to be changed. The excuse is that being Sunday, there was no crew available. Clearly the airline does not have a contingency plan in place for these situations. I am sure that this has happened before and they should have learnt from it. During all this there was no communication. We had other passengers that were at the airport restaurant with Sunwing $15 vouchers. If you did not ask for them, you did not get them. In addition to driving passengers by bus to a separate terminal that is old and limited choices from duty free to restaurants, the planes going to Cuba are old. In the way back the tunnel bridge to disembark was not working at the Toronto airport. We had to wait in the plane. Clearly planes, airport terminal and other equipment require major overhauling and maintenance. Unfortunately, Sunwing’s competitors fly less frequently to my preferred destinations. I will definitely avoid flying Sunwing in the future.
So sick of this disgusting airline…
So sick of this disgusting airline .Always something wrong.Specifically Booked a direct flight then they change it and add a stop in Calgary .Adds 4 hours of time that was not agreed upon..Flown with them over 10 times and I cringe every time we use them.I Hope this place goes broke.
Fon't believe that you are getting value for your vacation dollars with Sunwing!
Several years back, we flew on a Sunwing package to Runaway Bay, Jamaica.
We bought several excursions from Sunwing before our trip as we were able to pay in Canadian dollars.
Anyhow, once we arrived at our hotel in Jamaica, we met with the Sunwing rep who informed us that several of the excursions we bought in Canada were not being offered by Sunwing at our hotel. This was a huge disappointment to say the least; we showed the Sunwing rep in Jamaica the Sunwing magazine from Canada with the excursions that we had prepaid in Canadian dollars. The rep did her best to accommodate us and she arranged for Sunwing to provide us with an air-conditioned van and driver and tour guide for a whole day free of charge so we took advantage of that.
I would never travel Sunwing again nor would I recommend them as they nickel and dime you for everything on the flight down and back.
WestJet bought them out but I am now seeing their TV commercials on television now and it makes me angry that they are still in business since they have a terrible track record.
Do yourself a big favor and avoid them like the plague!
We were recently in Puerto Plata
We were recently in Puerto Plata, Sunscape. While we were not customers of Sunwing this trip, we find since WESTJET bought them too expensive, we would like to commend DUNWING REP Antonio for going above and beyond on service. We had an issue with our E Ticket and he went to great lengths to assist us.
Thank you Antonio!
