Paid for 650m2, only laid 512m2, cost an extra £1,000 for someone else to finish the job

HORRIBLE!!! One month after grass was laid. Brown and balding patches all over. Now toadstools appearing!!! So upsetting!! My daughter paid for this as a birthday present for me. If I don’t receive a refund citizens advice and watchdog will be contacted!! Must have emailed at least 8 times and no response!!! £320 waisted!!

Got what was asked for and very happy with results.

I've waited three weeks before posting this so as I can see how well the lawn has taken.

Our old lawn was about 30 years old, had suffered three large dogs, two children and now grandchildren! Very compacted in places, ants nests, a few weeds and a lot of bare patches.

Adam and Jonesy (didn't catch his first name!) turned up around 9 on the agreed date. Got to work with the rotovator straight away then added a lot of topsoil. Did a good job of leveling off with rakes and boards and finished laying the lawn by around 5. They asked for a few drinks during the day (it was very hot!) but otherwise got on with the job. Very friendly, polite and they tidied up afterwards.

They left a comprehensive set of instructions for lawn care, which we have followed and are really happy with the results. The lawn has rooted everywhere and is growing almost before your eyes.

Just be aware that, unless you ask for the old lawn to be lifted, it will just be rotovated and levelled, so will be slightly higher than your old lawn. While the weeds haven't re-appeared, one or two of the ants nests have survived, so will be treating those. Follow the instructions about watering and cutting carefully and hopefully, like us, you will be happy with the results.

Scam - do not use
They laid only part of what we paid for, you are pressured in paying while they are on site, only after they left we measured as it did not look right what was laid and realised they did not lay the ordered/paid amount of turf. They did not answer emails nor phone messages, did not come back to complete the job, nor refunded. With laid lawn you have clear evidence how much was laid and is easily established that the job was not completed.
No VAT invoice, not a registered on Company House, incorrect address on their webpage- fraudulent people.

Horrendous company, don’t use them. Completely unprofessional from the start. I should have noticed warning signs when they didn’t come to view the area before making the quote. Never gave a time of arrival, just turned up before 7am. 2 men who had a terrible attitude. Kicking their equipment around. Been on the job for less than 2 hours and started rolling out the new turf on a completely bumpy area which hadn’t been prepared. Still lumps of old turf left in place. Went out to raise concerns and asked for the manager to come and take a look which was refused. One of them said ‘well if you think you can do the job better yourself.’ Said they had 3 other jobs booked in today. I asked why they were rushing and they just tried to fob me off with my garden being unlevel to start with. The manager eventually rung me and ended up cutting off the phone. Resulted in me having to call off the job. They unloaded all the old turf back off the truck and came back to take a photo of me on the doorstep before driving away leaving mud everywhere. I’m not an unreasonable person but this was a completely unprofessional job and now I’ll have to find someone else to rectify it for me. A terrible experience for a lone female. AVOID!!!

They did a terrible job - please don't use them. They left the new turf area bumpy and full of dips that will now have to be levelled out at our expense. Also, one area that they did is just a massive raised mound - they said it would sink and flatten with the rest of the lawn after a couple of weeks but it didn't. When they came back they then said it might flatten after a couple of years! They didn't prepare the ground properly and they left massive join cracks all over the area which we have had to fill in with grass seed. We now have a large unsightly area we have paid thousands of pounds for which we will have to have someone else to come and re-do. I wish I had seen the other reviews on this site before booking them in.

In response to your reply - yes you are the correct company, and my bad review simply joins the other 42% of 1 star reviews you already have so it should come as no surprise to you.

They came to patch some areas in my clients lawn and did a terrible job. The ground wasn't prepared properly and the turf wasn't cut in around the edges. It was left uneven and full of dips and bumps and the turf around the edges was just laid over the top of the old grass. They used small chopped up pieces and offcuts instead of going back to the lorry to get a full roll which meant some areas were full of joins. I'd paid for 70 rolls and they only used around 50 so there was no excuse. When I pointed out that the turf wasn't cut in properly and was higher that the rest of the lawn one of the men told me it would shrink to fit (which is nonsense) and that if I wasn't satisfied in a couple of weeks I should get a roller and flatten it myself. When I complained to Beth in the office she first said it was fine, when I insisted it wasn't she gave me a date when they would come back and sort it out, but they didn't turn up and have since ignored any attempt I've made to get in touch. I was charged £850 and they were there for just over an hour. They insist you pay cash or online there and then and say they won't leave until you have. They said the costs and quotes were all inclusive of VAT but when I asked for an invoice with their VAT registration number for my accounts they went silent. They couldn't even work the VAT out properly, hastily trying to fob me off saying the £850 was £680 + £170 VAT. £680+20%VAT is £816 as anyone in business would know. I've called and emailed several times but they screen their calls and ignore emails. They also operate under the name Sussex Lawn Turf which they say is a "sister" company but neither are registered at companies house and they don't have the full office address on either website. I've reported them to trading standards and the HMRC VAT fraud team. If you do decide to use them, just make sure you're 100% happy before you hand over your money, because afterwards you won't see them for dust!!

This company was recommended to me by a friend and I found them to be great. Very professional and the installer who came was very polite and hardworking. My garden looks great. I have booked them to replace my front garden in August. I recommended using this company.

The guys at Surrey lawn turf arrived dead on time which was a pleasant surprise as usually workmen arrive when they like!
Grass looks lovely and we have been thoroughly informed of after care.
Guys were brilliant too. Everything was easy from booking to finished result.

Recently installed a new lawn for me. The preparation work was shoddy leaving us with a very bumpy lawn and full of mushrooms. Contacted them via email which took forever to respond to and when I explained what has happened and invited them to come and see the lawn they simply ignored me.
Don't use this company there are many other decent options out there.
I have invited them to come and view my lawn on at least 3 occasions but they choose to be keyboard critics instead, just avoiding the inevitable that the preparation work was shoddy.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this company! They bent over backwards to accompany my timeline and to ensure we could find a suitable date. On the day the process was incredibly smooth and professional. They arrived on time and worked quickly and efficiently without any issue. My lawn is beautiful and lush and I’m three months in. I can’t wait to extend my lawn and work with the team again. I HIGHLY recommend!!

Did a horrible job and took them to court. Their address they have listed in Banstead is a sham! There is a reason why they only accept bank transfer or cash. These guys are rogues as they are not registered with companies house either - you have no recourse to them if they do a dodgy job. Avoid them unless you want to get ripped off. THEY ARE RIP-OFF MERCHANTS! Trading Standards here we come.

I have reported these guys to Trading Standards and they are investigating. Please look up their address on Google Street view if you have any doubts. They actually lived at the address on the web site and they left last August. If this is defamation then please do take me to court except you won’t do that because you will have to actually release your real address. Scam artists!

A great company from initial quote to the end result . Friendly bunch of lads made it a very enjoyable experience . Fantastic job and the front garden looks amazing . Will definitely use them again for the back garden in the summer highly recommend
