Very poor customer service
The poorest customer service we've experienced in a long-time. All good until you have a question or an issue then the whole things falls apart. Useless.
Swimming pool was frequently closed due to technical issues and instructors were unreliable. My son was matched poorly to a weaker swimmer in his 2:1 class. Ended up getting poor instruction as a result.
I would not recommend. In fact, I would go as far to say that I would steer clear. Caused more stress and anxiety than doing it ourselves. Utterly abmissmal.
GREAT teaching
Wow, just stumbled across these bad reviews for Swimming Nature and felt compelled to write my own review. My two boys have been learning with Swimming Nature for a few years now and the teaching has been BRILLIANT! They are now both swimming with really good technique and have progressed so much faster than they were in their previous lessons. For me that makes it worth the extra expense. The lessons are definitely costly but considering the level of tuition and attention it’s worth it for me. Sometimes our venue (in Streatham) has issues with pool temperature which means lessons have been cancelled, but this is beyond the control of SN and they always let me know in good time and credit my account accordingly. Whenever their regular teacher is absent (which happens very rarely) they are replaced with another brilliant teacher. Both my boys really look forward to their lessons. I recommend them to friends all the time.
Teachers should work elsewhere
It saddens me to write this review because the level of teaching is so good when it happens. However, our lessons are being cancelled regularly at the very last moment (on the same day, a few hours before the event). Each time the same ‘temperature’ issues with the pool are cited. We are issued ‘credits’ but those credits can rarely be used. Customer services argue that this is OK quoting our contract but the fact is that we have started making other plans rather than risk having our weekends trashed by Swimming Nature. The teachers should really go and work elsewhere and take their students with them. Swimming Nature is doing them an injustice.
The most disorganised business
This is my second 1-star review for Swimming Nature, and I will let the facts do the talking.
We are booked for a year’s course at the Lab in Muswell Hill. Since September, in the last 8 months, my child has been through around 10 teachers - we have simply lost count. At least every other lesson we are informed that there’s a different teacher replacing the “regular” one (who is that??). Every few weeks the lesson is cancelled on the morning of the class - ie 2-3 hours before the lesson is due. No reimbursement is provided but instead we are given “credit” that can be used to rebook lessons, that then get cancelled.
My child is regularly being paired up with another child who is completely of a different standard to her - in fact in a recent phone conversation I was told that she has 3 different levels recorded against her name. The operator appears utterly clueless and should not be serving customers.
The model of the business is a complete joke, and I genuinely cannot fathom HOW the owners and managers can shamelessly carry on in that vein. I am confident that with the damning reviews against it, Swimming Nature will sink very soon. Pun intended.
Avoid This Company
This business does not, in my opinion, show proper regard for its customers. In my experience, the company's business practices are opaque and unfair and management is determined to keep your money at all costs. When they have made a mistake, they have tried to convince me that I am in the wrong instead of correcting things. In addition, their IT system seems to have constant problems: my child was listed at the wrong level at one point so did not have an appropriate level of challenge during two lessons; and despite the SN system mistakenly listing a lesson as cancelled, with the result that half the lesson was missed before the teacher realised the mistake, a refund request was refused. Please avoid this company! There are plenty of good swimming instructors in London so that you don't need to deal with these people.
Badly Managed
I read the other reviews here and signed up anyway. Great facility and instructors but what a shame how this company is (mis)managed. My daughters classes were cancelled three weeks running with random excuses provided the night before - not great when using precious maternity leave. Asked for a refund for these and the remaining classes left in the term (via email and phone numerous times) so we could go somewhere else and.......actually swim. This is where the trouble began. Finally the money has been refunded but it has taken weeks worth of emails and phone calls constantly getting fobbed off and receiving no response. It’s not a multi-national they’re running here...just a few swimming pools, so the excuse they were “so busy” fell flat. The classes are also very expensive. An unfortunate experience and we’ll never return. In terms of a business model, it’s not great, as we could have been customers for year if the customer service department could had just treated us in a decent manner. And as a matter of customer service, the money was refunded to my bank account without ceremony - no phone call or email to apologise for the less than great experience. Very poor.
Fantastic lessons with amazing…
Fantastic lessons with amazing instructors (Bexleyheath) cannot fault them…
Unfortunately the customer service in their office are absolutely disgusting and really let the company down!
Very poor customer service
Same experience as others. We did at one point have a great teacher but it simply doesn't make up for the stress involved dealing with the customer services, which really is appalling. Emails go unreplied, phone calls unreturned, questions about teachers stonewalled. Shame, as it's a good idea for a business, but they need to resolve their customer services issues. We've gone elsewhere for swimming lessons now and it's such a relief!
Disgusting customer service
Swimming Nature’s idea of customer service is to completely ignore their customers. Try ringing you get cut off and no response to emails. I paid a considerable amount in advance for lessons it seems they can no longer provide. They still have my money, must be about a year now, have provided no general updates in months and are ignoring my attempts to contact them. My daughter’s teacher was lovely but seems impossible now to get any lessons for my money, I guess they’d rather take on new students who haven’t pre-paid.

. They have a great rewards system
. Best of all my child cannot wait for his swimming lessons every week and it’s all about him learning to swimming enjoying his lessons and improving his technique.
I’ve been to many different centres and I’m glad I found this one and it works with myself and my child.
It’s great place for children to learn how to swim to gain confidence and their development.
Thank you Swiming nature
Opaque billing practices, poor customer service
I've been using Swimming Nature for swimming lessons for my children for the past 2 years. The instructors have been very good and my children enjoy their lessons. However, they are very frustrating to deal with administratively and because lessons are very expensive ( £32+ for 30mins), this is not acceptable. After enrolling, I didn't receive an invoice detailing the charges, terms and conditions, or even the dates of the lessons. As there can be frequent lesson cancellations, it makes it difficult to track what I've actually paid and used. For example, our instructor left the company and they cancelled lessons for an entire term. Though I was owed a term of lessons, I ended up making significant top-up payments to use the credit as prices had gone up in the interim. Though I tried to avoid this by specifically requesting lesson credits (versus financial credits), this was not honored when it came time to rebook the lessons. The customer service is quite incompetent and it took a lot of time to understand what they were charging me (which is still somewhat unclear to this day as I have yet to see a paper trail). However, it was clear that I had to pay or risk losing the value of a term of prepaid lessons. So overall, it has been disappointing dealing with them due to questionable billing and accounting practices.
Had a sadly DISAPPOINTING experience…
Had a sadly DISAPPOINTING experience with Swimming Nature - for anyone looking for a swim course for their child. A curriculum that wasn't accurately described to us and didn't suit our daughter (who was co-taught with someone 2 years younger). When I flagged it, was assured it would change. But nothing changed. And when tried to withdraw and get refunded for the remaining sessions, was refused any refund.
Terrible
Terrible, awful, never sign up with them. The customer service is appalling! Unfortunately there aren’t enough swimming lessons for children and they have a waiting list, so they seem to think they can get away with bizarre rules and just plain rude behaviour. If you are looking for swimming lessons for your children, go anywhere but to them. Jimmy at their customer service centre is particularly rude.
Very poor customer service
Very poor customer service, could not and would not admit they made an error with my son’s summer term lessons that resulted in us losing our required time slot. It was shockingly bad talking to the booking team, they need some serious customer retention training! Rude and unpleasant.
The swimming instructors seemed nice though!
Unreliable and overpriced
Unreliable and overpriced. Our child has had been learning with swimming nature for two terms now and the experience of other reviewers is accurate. You may have a fantastic teacher, but it is highly likely that he or she will leave during term and you will go through several cycles of replacements of varying quality. Sessions are often cancelled on the day and you're left to find an alternative date on your own rather than being offered one at your regular time. A very poor experience and, ultimately, regression rather than progress as each teacher change is a "reset".
Management is not responsive but you are guaranteed to recieve unsolicited emails and text messages asking you to renew membership.
