I don't honestly think people see purchasing home insurance as a great experience. The less friction the better. I think the policy I bought is reflected in the price bracket. The one thing that anno... See more

The first car policy had to be cancelled or pay £54 over for an oversight of 20 days , the second had to be reviewed because of the insurance industry. So not going to sing your praises

Mostly went ok .. im not very techy so it always worries me when doing new stuff on a computer /phone especially anything involving putting in card details ... it was relatively easy till the end then it timed out and wasn't sure if it had gone through or not

Generally my experience with the people at Swinton has been excellent but I can't let my recent renewal experience on the online portal slide.
Its terrible, my auto renewal was set to pay by installments which would create a hard credit search prior to the renewal date despite the fact I paid in full the previous year.
So wanted to cancel the auto renewal online, nah not possible, couldn't get past the chat bot asking for a customer reference number I just didin't have and was not included in the recent documentation.
Computer said no so was just stuck in a loop with old buddy.
So tried to find a phone number, claims number no problem, customer service nah, either buried so deep or just not there, had to resort to Google.
Just not good, waste of my time and tested my patience, can't recommend going forward.
Have a word with you web monkeys and look a bit harder at the customer journey online please Swinton.

Was with Swinton last year for my van insurance.
My renewal come in & was nearly £80 more than last year… so I did a comparison on Confused.
Swinton come in 2nd cheapest & £140 less than they offered me in my renewal!
Called them up to see what the craic was…
Before connection to a humanI was trying to deal with their automated Robot who doesn’t handle a Scottish accent well😮💨
Finally got connected to a human & was given a load of waffle about how the prices could change, they (Swinton) are a broker & have access to loads of companies etc, etc! Told the lad to give the sales pitch a rest & explain why my renewal is higher than last year with another years NCB & £140 more than Swinton via confused!
Couldn’t really get a solid answer so have decided not to renew with them this year & instead go with Autonet who were just under £3 cheaper based purely on the fact they have ZERO loyalty to their customers!
Had they have given me the best price from the get go & saved me the time/hassle of shopping around I would have just renewed without any issues!

NCB was knocked down to 1 year (never made a claim)on my renewal which they said was my fault. If this were true then my previous premium would have been more expensive (it was cheaper than new quote) Charges to use the call centre to fix it because you couldn't change it using your online account, administration charges, renewal charges and the premium which was over £20 a month more than other providers. Please read the small print if you go with them.
