Substandard Professional Quality and Lack of Transparency – A Major Disappointment

I attended the New Year’s Eve concert Opera Greatest Hits at the Sydney Opera House with high expectations. I want to clarify that my criticism is absolutely not directed at the building itself: the Sydney Opera House is an architectural masterpiece, truly beautiful and definitely worth visiting. However, my disappointment stems from the unacceptable professional quality of the performance I paid for, which was far from the 'First Class' event advertised:

Vocal Quality: The technical level was unacceptably low. In particular, I had the misfortune of listening to one of the worst renditions of 'Nessun Dorma' I have ever heard in my life. The tenor was consistently out of tune, struggling with basic intonation on such an iconic aria.

Lack of Transparency: Most concerningly, the printed program did not list the names of the performers. This omission prevented the audience from researching the artists' professional backgrounds. For a premium-priced event, this lack of transparency is highly unprofessional.

Production Standards: There was no professional host. The singers had to introduce themselves, lacking the polish expected at a world-class venue.

When I contacted customer service, my claim was dismissed as a matter of 'personal taste.' While the venue remains a must-see for its architecture, I feel misled by the branding of this specific event. I strongly advise future patrons to be cautious: the prestige of the building does not always guarantee the quality of the performance.
