Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 43 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many found the app unreliable, frequently freezing, and struggling with accurate rerouting or providing correct turns. Customers who purchased "lifetime" licenses often reported features stopped working or moved behind new paywalls, also facing difficulties restoring purchases after changing devices. The navigation frequently directed users onto unsuitable or complicated roads, failing to account for vehicle specifications. However, some customers expressed satisfaction with the GPS, appreciating its clear information, good graphics, and effective lane guidance. A few also found the interface appealing and preferred the app over alternatives.

Do not use Sygic!

I bought Sygic truck caravan edition app for android (around 50 GBP) for my trip from UK to Bulgaria - 1700 miles. I tested it in UK and it was suggesting to drive in the opposite direction - right. I thought this is not a big issue, because I will need it for the rest of the countries on my route. When I crossed the channel I was badly surprised - It suggested to drive on the left, taking exits in opposite direction. The application was useless and I had to switch to Google Maps.

I logged this with Sygic support and I asked for refund. The lady explained that this is already fixed "a long time ago" (my trip was 19th - 22nd of December 2022 ) and they cannot refund my money. I checked the reviews on Google Store and it looks like this was not a new issue. I do not know if it is fixed and I will never understand because I am not planning to use this application again.

Stay away from Sygic

First of all, when we need to use Sygic to seriously navigate due to no connection for Apple map or Google map, it is extremely frustrating. It cannot find the address. If you use a nearby address, it can calculate a route that is more than one hundred miles or more than 1 hour longer route.

It claims to have a lot of fancy features. But when the basic is not working, all those fancy features become annoying.

Secondly, I had purchased a lifetime worldwide map license a couple of years ago with a big price (more than $50 or $60). Now they are saying they changed mind. We got nothing for what we paid. To be able to get a necessary map update or to be able to use CarPlay or Android Auto, we have to pay again to subscribe.

This is the only company that I experienced. The business practice is too aggressive. No one else in the planet would even think of screwing up early loyalty customers. A big bad rip off.

Just updated Sygic and the latest…

Just updated Sygic and the latest version looks awful, is hard to use on my android head unit, why change the old version that was good, I updated as it is supposed to avoid the CAZ zones but it avoided them on the journey to work then took me through all of them on the way home, I had bought premium too. Sygic is rubbish avoid it has just got me charged for going through a congestion zone when the settings said avoid. Sort your rubbish navigation out.

Why should I pay for Something I've already paid for?

Why should I pay for Something I've already paid for?
I've bought the lifetime license. What was supposed to be with the app now is being removed and I'm being bombarded with pop ups to pay to have again what before was part of it. Don't want a subscription - I'VE PAYED LIFETIME. STOP ANNOY ME WITH POP-UPS IN MY MOBILE.

Can I give negative stars? Stay way from this company.

Support is an absolute disgrace

The Sygic application is not bad. It has the major advantage that it can be used without internet (most of the time). But their support is a joke.

A while ago I observed a problem that the application would not start without internet present. I was in another country and had eaten up my data allowance,

I reported this and got told to check I had the latest software and tell them if it happened again. They were lucky to get a detailed bug report from a software expert but they all can do is fire off a canned message.

My current problem. The app has got itself into a state of permanently downloading maps and refuses to navigate until all downloads finished. Even if you delete all maps. They told me to reinstall the software.

But the won't tell me how to verify my paid license so when I reinstall the app I can license it. Very shady.

I have also reported multiple times their huge bug that you cannot download a new map until all existing maps are updated.

Think of it. You arrive in a tiny country like Estonia or Luxembourg. Want to download the maps which are say 1M. You can't until you update Germany, France, Italy etc which costs 1+G of data.

Imagine if you have slow internet, or limited internet, or low battery. But the application is incapable of downloading a new map until all maps are updated.

The number of times I've ended up deleting all maps to get the map I need now to download. Why can't they fix this stupid and terrible bug???

Garbage navigation app!

Garbage navigation app!
I have the payed version, with downloaded maps in case of unavailable network connection, which was the whole point of getting this app as opposed to Waze or Google maps. Unfortunately I found out the hard way that if you loose network connection,

In a recent trip whenever I would lose network connection the Sygic navigation app would crash, and was unable to restarted until I got within network coverage area.
Based on what I can read below, my situation is far from unique.
As other people, I was lucky to have downloaded the offline google maps which saved my ass.
My advice, save your money and stay away from this scam. If you are within network, stick with Waze, if you're off-grid download google maps or but a reputable stand alone unit.

I used the payed version of Sygic…

I used the payed version of Sygic offline in a country with no mobile internet connection.
I'm running Android Auto and Sygic on Android 8.

Two serious problems occured:

1)
Sygic crashed and it stopped working on Android Auto .... "An error occured" and resetting the phone did not solve the issue.

2)
Started Sygic on the phone only and it stopped on the welcome screen with the message "need internet connection", bump. Again, resetting did not restore Sygic's functionality.

A pity but Sygic is simply not robust enough to be a trusted partner when offline capability is needed.

I was lucky to have Google offline maps installed and could continue travelling.

Stay away from Sygic

Why after a while my paid lifetime update maps and head up function license has been expired and were gone ?
And why navigation showes as a free trail version and not more roads details in Maps even though I have paid for map so maps are unusable .
Service teams not answered me.

Initial bad experience became a life saver, now good

It's doing all it can to make itself useless. It all looks nice with plenty of desirable functions, but then when it comes to actually using it, you bump into the map restrictions. So you buy the Europe plan for 30€ lifetime ... and you only get three updates per year for a maximum of three maps, which of course they didn't tell you about when you bought it. That is how fraude works.
Update of 09/2025
Sygic actually was a life saver in Andorra, where I didn't have internet (did not expect that), because it's outside the EU (didn't know)... Since then the app has been really helpful, often with a better route than Waze. I don't know how, but it does seem to be aware of traffic situations... Hence big upgrade from 1 to 4! Of course they want to sell stuff and especially subscriptions, just not doing if I don't need to.

has served me well over the years but…money grab

has served me well over the years but greed has set in.
Spent embarrassing amounts for upgrades and thought a lifetime premium would be it. (not to mention all the other "upgrades" I paid for) Of course, now one is pushed to get premium +, what is next, "premium ++" etc.? a money grab. still good but there are equals that are cheaper or free that work just as well.

Awful app

Awful app. Don't bother to pay cause you'll regret loosing your money. Use waze or Google maps, they are free and works great.
Bought the "premium lifetime licence" 2 years ago I think. Now they are sending me pop ups to buy the "premium+" licence and pay every 13 months. What a joke. At first, in the lifetime licence was all included. Now, they take off stuff and put it in the premium+ one. The app is laggy may times. Crashes continually on Android Auto. On the route, takes you out from the freeway, on some secondary road, then brings you back to the same freeway 2 or 3 km ahead. Bad speed limits all the time. So yeah, don't waste your money. Just use the free apps

Facken shiiit!!!!

Facken shiiit!!!!
I have already found countless errors in it.
I have the Premium package, I have the monthly map update, I have the facking internet on.
And the facking navigation still wants to take you to the closed road.
Unbelievable.
Then what the fack is the facking internet connection, how come you don't know the road has been closed for over a week.
Unbelievable.
And I'm paying for it.
Interesting That facking free Google
navigation knows that

Buyer Beware

Paid for the app, it used to work and after an update it now no longer works. Took customer support 2 weeks to even get back to me and after 2 weeks of working with them after that, the app still doesn't work.

Unfortunately- Crap.

Unfortunately, Sygic seems to have been programmed by a child. There are so many algorithm errors that it is almost unusable.
Why, for instance, when I am on a motorway, will it suddenly say turn off at the next junction, only to take me round the nearest rounderbout and back on to the same motorway? Not once but on six different occasions over 4000km.
Also, it is supposed to be a guide for trucks. Why then does it guide me to roads that a car would have trouble negotiating, especially when there are perfectly good 'A' roads near by?
Also, I cannot use the navigation unless I have internet and am signed in! It actually shuts down the program - great when you are negotiating difficult juctions etc.
I would estimate that at leasy 75% of all european speed limits are wrong. Example- a motorway posted as 120kph will show 50kph on sygic. 50 and 30kph in villages are ignored and show 70kph instead etc etc.
All in all, a faulty program, not worth the money.
Use Waze or Google Maps and watch the signs for speed, bridges and narrow roads.

SYGIC is BAD!!

SYGIC is BAD!!! I used them for about seven years: bought the maps for the entire North America, Caribbean and all Western Europe. Now I need to transfer those maps to a new tablet and that's impossible: there is no Customer Service, there is no phones to call and sending emails to "support" only triggers the same automatic response with no actual help. AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS!
