The Tado X Bridge is tricky to wire as the app was wrong.
On so many levels don't buy this. Ready the Amazon one star reviews. They are mostly correct.
Forget the idea of any support.

Buy something else without a subscription…
The product is fine but would never have bought it if I’d known I had to pay a subscription for almost all of the features you expect to come with a thermostat these days. It controls the heat but without the rest of the features, you are paying for a device that does not much more than any old school thermostat. Yes you can turn on the heating from out of the house using the app if you need to when coming home at a time outside of the usual schedule but how often does that happen. Not very. Wish I’d done more homework before buying. So many other options out there. Don’t choose this one.

Policy change makes hardware useless for Home Assistant users
I am writing this to warn any potential buyers who use Home Assistant or third-party smart home platforms: Tado has rendered their own hardware effectively useless.
I chose Tado and invested significant money into their devices ONLY because of the integration with Home Assistant. It was the primary selling point for my setup. However, their recent decision to aggressively limit API usage to just 100 calls per day for non-subscribers is a total bait-and-switch.
For a modern smart home, 100 calls a day is laughable. Polling for temperature, humidity, and simple automations across multiple rooms exhausts this limit in a matter of hours. To make matters worse, my specific hardware version does not support local control (like HomeKit or Matter), meaning I am 100% dependent on their cloud API.
By "rate limiting" the API to this extent, Tado is essentially holding my hardware hostage behind a subscription wall (Auto-Assist). I bought these devices for their interoperability; by removing that, Tado has turned my entire heating system into expensive e-waste.
If you value owning the products you pay for and don't want your home's functionality at the mercy of a corporate policy shift, avoid Tado at all costs.
ADD in response to Tado's comment:
Calling a 100-call daily limit 'generous' is fundamentally dishonest for any modern smart home environment. In a setup with multiple rooms, a basic integration that syncs temperature and humidity readings can exhaust that limit in less than an hour.
Furthermore, your 'officially supported integrations' (like HomeKit or Matter) are not available on my hardware version, as previously stated. This means your API is my only gateway to the smart features I paid for.
By claiming the API was 'never officially supported,' you are conveniently ignoring that Tado’s market share grew specifically because of its interoperability with the enthusiast community. We were the ones who recommended your products on forums, wrote integrations, and provided support for the new users - basically did your marketing for you for years.
To now retroactively cripple that functionality and suggest a subscription as the 'fix' is a textbook bait-and-switch. I didn't buy a subscription, I bought hardware. By removing the only way for my specific devices to communicate with my smart home, you’ve just created e-waste.

Just started using it
Just started using it, the system appears to work well and effectively
Significant Savings
Tado is saving me between 20-25% of my heating bills.
So easy to use
We have tado thermostats in every room.
I love how easy it is to adjust things either on the sensors or via a phone app.
It's also ideal that only the master needs to be hard wired and the rest just run off AAA batteries.
Tado offering excellent support
Tado were excellent is supporting my installation of their newer System X which I was using to update and replace their earlier V3+ system. All works reliably and very simply now here at home. Thanks 👍🏻
The heating control works well
The heating control works well and easily integrated into Alexa
Tado is a great bit of kit!
Having Tado installed when I had a new boiler a year ago was the best decision I could have made. I can so easily turn my heating on and off whether I’m at home or out and about and adjust the temperature too. It works reliably. Great bit of kit!
Home Assistant integration not working…
Home Assistant integration not working anymore due to what I believe is changes in their API and other things. Really sad for me as this was a primary use case and why I invested in buying this product.
Update: This reply suggests buying the subscription to get it working. And this is my whole point when I bought the product Home Assistant was working fine, and this recent "change" seems to require you to buy a subscription now. Hence, my upset.

Tado support is very very very very poor
I have the wireless temperature sensor X. When it works it is very good. When it stops working it takes a lot of patience to get it working again. The worst thing is Tado help/support. It can take a long time for them to get in touch and even longer. This needs to be improved

Tado support is second to none
Tado support is second to none. Their response to our issue was quick and efficiently solved by Their customer support team. Very happy customer.
Easy control of temperature
Easy control of temperature and quick adjustment of all heaters in a room or the whole home. Energy saving not the major reason to use for me. Using wireless temperature sensors is the big advantage as there is no need to adjust thermostat based on outside temperature as was always the case with my old traditional thermostats. If using the thermostats without wireless sensor the problem of varying offset remains also for Tado. So would definitely recommend one sensor per room.
Good customer service
Good customer service - provided clear instructions to sort out an installation issue.
Tado thermostat
My review is not the product, but Tado’s customer service. I had a problem with my internet bridge, the power socket was broken. I was still in my warranty period so I tried to contact them. Now you can only converse with a bot which has not been programmed to deal with faulty products! It told me someone ( hopefully a person) would email me. 3 days later no email, I haven’t been able to control my heating which seems to be come on when it feels like it. I have had o purchase a new bridge so not happy. Tado do better!

Amazing everything works well reduced my bills
Really good thermostat control
Really good thermostat control, good features
Same experience as others regarding…
Same experience as others regarding rate limits. Just another company pulling off the same time tested tricks: lure in customers, lock them in then change the terms.
And saying 100 requests per day is "generous" is absolutely laughable; it's useless. May as well be zero for any real purpose.
To prospective new customers, stay clear away. Do your research. There are better options.

Good product
Good product, easy to setup and operate. Not quite happy to have a subscription for this. Hopefully this review will not earn me yet another subscription to a newsletter …
System fine, Thread benefits limited for me
Mixed findings:
- Temperature control and timing functionality is generally great, and money saving in use compared to a conventional system
- Some misleading information on capabilities with respect to Thread integration & mesh, may not impact most users
- Unreliable performance until extra bridge installed, which quickly solved issues
- App generally good & easy to setup
- Valve hardware looks good and works
The issue that gave bad initial impressions was the network reliability. Devices would randomly switch offline and rarely are all devices able to talk to each other. Despite tado website information "X works on the Thread protocol – offering a more stable mesh network than WiFi and with a greater range across larger homes" it turns out that individual devices - e.g. radiator valves and remote thermostats do not operate as a mesh and only communicate to the tado wireless receiver.
Despite tado website information about integration using Matter over Thread, all connection is via the tado wireless receiver, so having multiple Thread compatible routers, such as the Google Pro, does not actually assist with network reliability. I doubled the number of repeaters to try and fix the network reliability until after multiple queries tado support admitted this wouldn't help.
Support advised that I could have set this up initially but now that there is no possibility to change my setup to work as a mesh, which frankly I do not believe and contradicts multiple internet sources and some of the Support information received separately.
It was never clear if different setups would allow control of the hot water.
I am convinced with some minor support I would have been able to set this common architecture up satisfactorily but nobody was willing to help other than recommend buying more tado repeaters.
I have now given up and ordered a repeater despite having spent £350 on additional Thread routers, this has solved the issue, just wish I had known from the start that routers wouldn't help.
Support was okay, apart from the specific Thread repeater issue
App & other functionality generally fine, although minor things like hot water boost running for a whole hour with no adjustment possible are annoying as need to set a manual timer to remind to switch off.
Questioning whether I should have stuck with the Genius Hub system that worked for 10 years - built in features such as occupancy work more easily than trying to do this with third party devices, and Z-wave/zigbee was fine versus the limted practical advantages of Thread with tado X in a real world situation.
