Taxes for Expats has done my taxes for the past three years, and this year's experience was typical of all three years: awesome. Taxes for Expats originally cleaned up a mess I had made of my taxes and has provided their same friendly but very professional service in the subsequent years. It comes down to trust and peace of mind. Based on my experiences with TfE, I now trust them completely with all of my tax work. They turn free consultations into a sales call without answering any questions unless you pay $250
I wanted to ask some questions/tax advice in case I might need such services in the near future. I got in touch clearly stating my intentions and asking if they do free consultations to advise on my situation, and was told to fill out a form on their site to schedule a call. Great! Conveniently there was a field to write information so they can prepare for my call.
Well, during the actual call which I thought would be my consultation, I was just talked AT (not even WITH) given a whole spiel about "we can do this and this and this for you" and not answering anything that I wrote in the information field on the form. When I finally got a chance to talk after being talked AT for several minutes without pause, I was told "oh yeah you can schedule another call to answer those questions, it's $250 for 30 minutes".
No thanks. I get needing to make money but at least be up front and honest about what a call entails instead of just pushing sales tactics at me, especially when since the very beginning I was clear I wanted advice and not a sales pitch. Other tax advisors and even a lawyer I spoke to in the past were happy to answer questions for free (even when I offered to pay for their time!), and those who didn't made it super clear from the start instead of wasting my and their time.
When I WILL need these tax services in the future, which I know I will, I will give my money to someone else.

The suggestion for a Tax Planning Call was offered as the next step if you wanted personalised tax advice — but it’s entirely optional.
That said, I respect that the call didn’t meet your expectations, and I’d genuinely like to learn more about what felt off from your perspective so we can improve and also help resolve your original questions.

Expert services and piece of mind!
This is my second year using Taxes for Expats. I used their streamlined procedure last year and returned this year to file my 2024 tax return. This year and last year, my tax advisors have been incredibly knowledgeable, swift in handling paperwork and my concerns, as well as being courteous.
Their system is easy to use and very detailed, giving specific information for the country I live in. It saved my information from last year so that this year, filling out the form was even easier. I feel so relieved that my tax returns have been filed by experts, on time and electronically. I would highly recommend their services.

I've been using TFX for the last 3…
I've been using TFX for the last 3 years and they helped me work through some complex issues as a dual US/UK citizen working in a third country. Every CPA who's been assigned to me has been knowledgeable and helpful and have been able to explain my situation and options in a way thats easy to understand. This includes my most recent experience asking for advice on a situation where I'm working in 3 different countries across 5 tax years in a 4 month period and our 30min call established a clear plan of action and identified a couple of areas for deductions that I wasn't previously aware of.

Some initial confusion but in the end a great job!
This was my first experience with TFX. They have a different interpretation on some IRS expat forms than my previous tax preparer. Once we got that sorted out and my EA was assigned, he prepared my return in a very timey manner and was helpful in answering my questions. I thought this would be a "once & done" experience since I had already paid deposits but I fully intend to use TFX again!
