Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 60 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people reported significant issues with payment, often not receiving compensation for completed work or facing difficulties in getting paid as promised. Customers also experienced extremely poor customer service, characterized by a lack of communication, unhelpful staff, and an inability to contact a real person for assistance. Reviewers frequently mentioned being ignored or receiving no replies to their inquiries, especially concerning payment and technical issues. Some people were dissatisfied with the hiring process, describing it as a waste of time with repeated tests and rejections without clear reasons, and even instances where personal data was requested but no job was offered. Additionally, there were concerns about misleading promises regarding bonuses and work conditions, leading to disappointment and a feeling of being exploited. However, a few other people also felt that when work was available, the pay was acceptable and the jobs were relatively easy.

Toxic work environment

- toxic work environment
- bullying behavior from manager and team lead
- no transparent, open and honest communication
- focus on mistakes (such as copy paste mistakes in Excel)
- no ideas for improvement were allowed
- concerns from employees have not been taken serious
- actively left employees out when manager made decisions that had a huge impact on employees daily work
- very traditional and hierarchical management system

What they should do better:
listen to your employees, take your employees and their concerns serious, include employees in decisions that will have an impact on their work, give employees space for improvement, no not focus on mistakes but on development and solution strategies, work WITH your employee - not against him. Be friendly and respectful to everyone.

Mind Boggling Confusion IMO

As others have stated here it is a "dictionary" of learning materials which is unpaid, and the test is unpaid. I could've completed a Master's Degree in the time it took to read over and understand their abbreviations which are NOT spelled out.

The test for a QSR does not match the learning materials but although they spam to take the test and supply a support email while taking it, support does not answer. The questions are very abstract and not succinct. Plus they advise you to run your own timer as it is timed but doesn't tell you how long. I am glad I read other reviews here now so would not ever even contact them again. 4 different emails too. Mind-boggling.

They are kind enough (in their words) to release my email. I didn't know they were in charge of it but they stated I could now "use it as usual". Huh???? I was using it and honestly giving me permission to use it seemed so odd!

They also advised me I must remove all materials from my computer. I did not sign a Non-Disclosure and will delete the files as they are large but I found them quite rude. I was only given 3 days' notice of the test after a month of waiting.

I also did not know about the state-specific requirements others mentioned or the low pay as I received no answers from support on any questions ever. They had reached out to me so was clueless about everything.

Crazy Time Management

Started years ago with company under Lionbridge, which was a far better company than what they are now, Telus International. Under Telus the work has been very limited, even though they claimed to be minimum of 10 hours a week, it will be 5 hours or less, due to their claim that the client didn't supply work. However, at the same time they are recruiting new hires. The pay is okay for the simple job, but it is very low and this position should be seen as doing surveys or play and get paid online jobs. One week before my assignment was up I got this crazy time management guy that flagged me for not working the required 5 days. However, a mass emails went out the day I stopped, notifying us that their was no work and to work double time during select dates to make up for the time lost. That was proof of why I didn't see any work in the que, and I did what I've done over the last year, didn't file a "no work" ticket because they knew the situation. However, this crazy guy filed a complaint against me and claimed I needed to file a ticket because the client requires it. That is a lie because the client didn't send any work, therefore, they know there is no work to do. Make it make since. So I filed a ticket with the body of email (clearly it wasn't necessary). Fast forward to the next week, due to that crazy time keeper, I filed a ticket again with the body of the last day of work dates email and even explained the reason I was doing it, because the crazy one requires it even though it should already be in my file. This crazy thing sends me a response about working on the assignment again, which was unnecessary; and I emailed him back that he needed to read the ticket because it wasn't about an assignment. Why? Because I applied for what I thought was another position with Telus and had already received a response two days before about it. FYI: job was for the same job, but different name, pay, and hours; if they had offered the position to me, I would have declined it. When these jobs were with Lionbridge the pay was about the same, but the jobs were totally different (not just rating Ads, and was 10-20/hrs, and no down time). Under Telus International you will have alot of no work days, some weeks pay was only $9, due to no work. You will encounter crazy people like that time keeper that doesn't read, which causes all these negative reviews. You will start of your assignment positively in the first few months, but you will start realizing there is no work, and their support platform for the employees to talk between each other has moved to a social media platform, which requires Telus to accept you into the group, but they never will. Therefore, cutting you off from communicating with anyone unless you file a ticket. The pay platform has also changed systems and there is no information on that platform, like it was on their website. If you decide to work for this company make sure you keep good records because you will need them.

Update: It's crazy that I just got an email about "Tips on Rating". Wow, communication is very lacking at Telus International, they are clearly not Lionbridge.

I got an offer as Personalized Internet…

I got an offer as Personalized Internet Ads Assessor in turkey with german and english language for laughable 5$ per hour. And as this isnt offensive enough they even require to give access to your google data including messages, photos, videos, IP adress etc.
Additionally their "sourcing specialist" Adrian Atabay shared my email address in a thread with several private people I dont know.
They want you to agree to share a lot of your data and to keep the information to this project confidental for 5$ per hour but at the same time they dont give a **** about sharing ur data without of your agreement.
Absolutely disgusting experience.
Also dont even try to get in touch with any of them as they never reply back, absolute joke of a scammish company

It was good, then I got fired for no actual reason.

I was working for TELUS International in 2020. I was happy that I passed the exam and could get started. I loved the variety of work and the job suited me fine working from home. I was there 6 months and they started giving me tasks I had never done before. I read the guidelines and they seemed easy enough. I then got negative feedback on a few of the tasks and although I read through them, I didn't respond to it. They stopped giving me work and then fired me, just like that, with no explanation. I emailed them to find out why I was fired but got no reply. Having read the company's policy, you have to respond to guidelines sent to you, or else it is a strike against you. I was so disappointed in being dropped like that. I was doing well up until then. I tried to reapply a few months ago but I was rejected. I have been working for Appen for a year now and I love it but the work is quite limited. I would love to join Telus again if I could.

I only took the assessment twice

I only took the assessment twice, I put in long hours to study for guided lines- So I really can’t rate the job but the guideline was challenging at first. You put in hours at first. It didn’t work out for me and I’m okay with it.. one door closes another opens..

Great experience

I don’t know what all the bad reviews are about. I recently started with them and the tasks are so easy. You don’t need to spend hours reading up on guidelines per task as another review said. I’m a complete newbie and only spend a few minutes for each task, even if you’re unsure of something and need to check the guidelines it’s very easy to find the specific section you need so not much extra time at all(maximum a few minutes). I put 4 stars as I just started so haven’t experienced what payments are like yet and if the process is streamlined. But so far so good.

TELUS International doesn't pay its collaborators

I've been doing online tasks for TELUS International since December 2022 and unfortunately I'm one of the many collaborators who don't receive their payments.
I've been working for seven months and I've only received two of them
It's very sad that we have to put up with such disrespectful situations with the workers especially with something as basic as paying for a job done.
Regrettable!!

This will be long but only because I…

This will be long but only because I want to be thorough. On 5/5 I spent 4 hours of my time filling out a spreadsheet with 204 prompts and recording those 204 prompts for the BREEZE project. I sent an email with spreadsheet and stated I completed the prompts. I sent a follow up email on 5/7 stating I had not received a response. On 5/8 I received an email informing I had 7 responses to resubmit. I completed this and sent an email on 5/9 informing I completed the 7 prompts. I did not hear back from anyone and sent a follow up email on 5/17 with no response. I did not hear back and sent a follow up email on 5/23. I did not hear back and sent another follow up on 5/24. I found a support email and forwarded the exchange on 5/27. On 5/31 I received an email stating they were waiting for a response and to see the details below however there were no detail nor a link. I forwarded that email back stating there was nothing in the email and asking how to address it. No response. On 6/2 I received another email from support stating they were still waiting for a response and could find the details below. Again- no details nor a link. It also stated if I did not respond in 48 hours it would be marked as completed. I forwarded the email again back to them showing there was no information asking how to address it when there was nothing! No response. On 6/4 I received another email stating that the case had been marked as resolved. I scrolled through that email and there was an initial email that I did not receive asking for the name of the project (which was clearly indicated in the subject and message as well as the forwarded email from the study. The thread also had my multiple emails stating there was no information for me to respond to with no response from them. I then forwarded that entire thread back to support in a new email. No response. I was told in the onboarding for this project that I would receive $120 for completing this project ($100 for the project and a $20 bonus for completing the spreadsheet prompts and recordings in 24 hours) I spent many hours on this and never received my pay. And yes I still have all of the emails.

This is a scam

This is a scam! I spent more than 4 hours of my time completing a Breeze project and I know I answered some of the questions correctly because I was guided by a representative. However, I received my failed results with no correct responses and they wanted me to complete the responses again. It's not worth $100 dollars. I'd rather participate in a research study or deliver Uber Eats for extra money.

Pros and Cons of Telus Ai Solutions Online "Rater"

Pros: Work at home, flexible hours, and a legit work from home company that pays monthly. Cons-lengthly exam process to get into the company. Once you are accepted, the pay is per task, based on the amount of time Telus feels you should complete a task. Reading and training for the tasks are not paid, so you might have a 60 page guideline, and get 5 tasks to do. (So you have spent 30 minutes reading the guidelines, and 5 minutes on a task.) You waste time reading and studying to understand the criteria that they are looking for. You get taken off tasks if you fail to rate accurately. I have worked for them for 6 months, and my pay comes out to about 9-$10 an hour after determining how many hours I work versus what my pay has been. If you get good at ratings, you can do them more quickly, but still the pay is low. But many tasks require more time than they pay for which I have complained about, with no response from the company. This company is legit, but it is low pay, tedious task work. You are called an online "rater" or "data analyst" or "online assessor" (all these names are used for this work at home position) and a rater reviews pictures (images), responses to a search, titles, music, english sentence corrections, and other tasks for this position. I find I will do this in my spare time, but continue to search for other online jobs as this company just does not pay enough for a United States based person.

NOT A SCAM, GREAT SIDE JOB

I applied for Telus about a year ago, the test was long and confusing and hard, BUT I passed I have been working with them ever since. It is not a scam!!! I think that they are looking for a variety of ppl from different areas and backgrounds and perspectives thats why some don't get chosen or "fail" the exam. The only thing I can say that isn't great is they offer bonuses (to push for you to do hours) and they OFTEN offer over time (as the job requires minimum of 10 hours a week work maximum 20) BUT after doing task for 4-6 hours they cut you off for the day making it almost impossible to get the 28-35 overtime or bonuses unless you log in EVERYDAY and do a few hours. But the company is great they pay you on time they are legit, taxes and w2's. I see a lot of bad comments but the truth is if you take the time to do the test and they choose you for training it's an amazing way to make extra money and it's all on your own time schedule. I love the company and how easy it is to get the task done. It is repetitive but ultimately easy money. There have been plenty of ties when I did not do minimum hours or my rating scores were low and I NEVER got fired. I am honest and do the work put the correct amount of hours in each time and I have never had an issue with them. As a stay at home mom and wife this is a great and easy source of income that is completely legit. I have recommended numerous ppl and none have been accepted which leads me to believe that they are looking for certain ppl, and after consistently doing the job I can understand why because with the AI department they want to make sure that they are getting different ppl from different places to make sure their AI is relevant to everyone. This is an honest review on this company and I have been working with them for about year and no issues.

They implied I would get at least 10…

They implied I would get at least 10 hours work per week. In reality, I have gotten less than 1 hour. When I enquired to Telus I got a generic passive-aggressive response.

This is highly misleading and unethical after making candidates take 3 tests requiring hours of study for NO PAY.

Seems like a complete scam company that used me for unpaid work.

How To Spot A Scam Company

I do not know how I was invited to complete an application and take the exams. I do not know how they have my email address.

They provide instructions and guidelines, one of which is 175 pages long. Two very badly produced videos, a practice test, and several other .pdf files. The Guidelines says to use best judgement.

There are three parts of the exam. The first part seems impossible to pass yet I did. The second part it seems easy to pass yet I did not. Both times I got the so called results within minutes, pass, or fail ONLY.

This company is very secretive. One example is they do not have a timer. They do not even tell you how many tasks you have completed, nor remaining. They say that completing the test " too fast " is an automatic disqualification. However, they do not specify.

And for clarification the first part of the Exam would take up to TEN HOURS, longer if you take breaks. Even if you choose to keep going, it automatically shuts off, implying you must take a break. Part Two might take up to FOUR HOURS.

Another secret is that they do not tell you what the incorrect answers are if you got any wrong. The entire process is automatic. However, this does not mean they are unable to provide the test results if they chose to.

I found comments on Reddit where workers complain about being fired and replaced. It was not until I found Telus on Trust Pilot one of the reviews said they believe Telus wants work done with out paying people. I should have given up the moment I read that review. If Telus was legitimately hiring, they would have provided SAMPLES, ( not unlike the page in the part two video ) instead of actual pages to rate. They clearly scammed me with their organized crime.

This means that NO COMPANY EVER IS GOING TO EMAIL YOU WITH ACTUAL POSITIONS FROM HOME.

The fact that I did not have to pay Telus is irrelevant. A highly disguised and unknown scam is an unrecognized one. There are companies out there that are getting their work done without actually hiring people, because they are saying they have job openings available. If it was a legitimate exam, they would have provided information.

I responded to a job listing on indeed

I responded to a job listing on indeed, and they contacted me saying that I was hired, provided that I pass a 3 part exam. They said the exam would take around 5 hours total. It seemed like a lot of time to require from someone for what is presumably an interview process, but it seemed like a decent work from home opportunity, so I went along with it. After sitting there going over lengthy, tedious, and complex 'study materials' for this so-called 'exam,' and then spending well over 5 hours just on the first portion, They put me up to the second two portions, which consisted of tasks that are essentially the same as the job.

I passed the 2nd portion, and after the third portion, immediately I received an automated response informing me that I would not be selected for the position with no reason given as to why.

So basically, what I think just happened was I was tricked into spending about 10 hours of my life doing a job for this company and not getting paid to do it.

Moments after it hit me that I just got cheated into working for these jerks for free, another email showed up, very similar to the previous one, with a similar proposition for a different position.

In essence, this company just makes you sit through training and puts you to work for hours upon hours on the promise that you will get hired to do a job, but then the 'tests exams' have you just doing the actual job and not getting paid for it.

It's a scam. Do not trust this sleazy, dishonest company.
