A bunch of dodgy liars that treat you as disposables

If you enjoy being treated as disposables, this is the company for you.

I got enrolled in their Analyst Program in August 2023. Tests and guidelines were tedious (with a bunch of typos, poor English, and contradicting points in there to confuse you as well), wasted days of my time, but I passed all of that and became their rater. It was fine in the beginning, task volume was great, they gave me positive feedback, and I got 2 months of pay from doing the analyst job.

Now in December 2023, after 5 weeks of no tasks from their end, they sent me a re-qualification assessment link, and again, after wasting much of my time, I passed the assessment. Nowhere in the email that came with the link mentioned anything about being removed from the program despite passing the re-assessment.

And then on 11 January, despite me having passed the re-assessment 2 days after they sent me the link, I suddenly got removed from the program "due to the low volume of tasks that [I] have rated most recently". When I asked them if this was a mistake, they told me: "We regret to inform you that our program needs have changed and as a result we no longer have a requirement for your services on the Analyst program."

What a bunch of dodgy liars who can't be honest about their treating people as disposables. A lot of their other "work opportunities" are dodgy as hell too, including basically collecting biometrics of minors. Be very careful with this "company", don't try your luck with them even if you're desperate for money. Make sure you read all the negative reviews you can find because they are true.

Definitely not a good employer

Rarely see tasks available for me which as a result very low salary. When I refused to provide personal sensitive information to them, they immediately remove me from the employment.

Scam

Was asked to supply Bank Account Number, Credit Card Number, Social Insurance Number, Vehicle Identification Number, Vehicle Plate Number, etc.

When I responded to the email (name) @telusinternational.com , it bounced as an invalid email. My only contacts with Telus International originated through their LinkedIn ads.

Very, very dodgy

Seems to be just using essentially fake jobs as a way to get lots of personal information from people.

The job of data collector seems to be basically just sending them your personal documents like bank statements. The profile section with information they want you to provide is huge and includes many things which could never be relevant to any kind of hiring decision.

Seems like an actual company as far as I can tell, but acts like a bunch of criminals trying to scam you into giving personal details so they can steal your identity. I suspect the reality is probably halfway between those 2 extremes - legal but thoroughly immoral and distasteful.

Unprofessional recruiting and AI exams

A recruiter approached me for a freelance job in rating advertisements. I completed the application form and needed to do an exam. The exam was not properly set up: the linguistic test didn't work, there were no sound files. Tried to find it on my own, but then I failed the exam. The second time again, the linguistic test didn't work. I notified the recruiter 2 times, but there was no response at all. For an AI company it is very unprofessional that the digital form/exam didn't work properly (come on, they are AI experts???) and when you ask for help, they keep silent. Good luck finding new freelancers when the exam doesn't work on mobile AND computer. A waste of time and effort!!

This is clearly a scam. I came across a post on Linkdeln where they stated “a work from home job…etc” and requested a copy of your Apple ID, what the hell, I reported them immediately. I hope they get shut down.

Ads accessor GR

Applied for this ads accessor position and they put me through some tests that costed me 10-20 precious hours of my life. I was unsuccessful and unfit for them. Wasted my time!

Applied for Ad Assessor

Applied for Ad Assessor. Studied the guide, took the course, and the first part of the exam. I even had to create a new email that could only solely be used with them. After all that, they tell me I didn't get the job because there are "too many appliciants". I know people usually get this after applying, but to get it after taking Part I of the exam? They didn't even tell me if I passed or failed. Wasted so much time

Misleading Pay Rate

Misleading Pay Rate: The Telus Mystery Shopper online job advertises a rate of $10 per hour, but this claim is far from the reality of the job. The issue lies in their timing system, where each job is set for a 30-minute timeframe, making it virtually impossible to earn the promised $10 per hour.

Time Discrepancy: In practice, each job often takes a minimum of 1.5 to 2 hours to complete, which is significantly more time than the 30 minutes they initially suggest. This huge gap between the estimated and actual time commitment is very disappointing for workers who hoped to earn a decent hourly wage.

Risky Shopping Environment: One of the most concerning aspects of this job is that you are often required to shop at online stores that already have numerous complaints against them. This means there's a high likelihood (around 70%) that you won't receive the ordered product. Additionally, there's a real risk that these stores might misuse your card details for other online transactions.

Delayed Refunds: If the product doesn't arrive, you are forced to wait for an extended period, usually between three to eight weeks, before you can even submit the feedback form and request a refund. This waiting period adds frustration and inconvenience to the job.

Poor Product Quality: Even in cases where products do arrive, around 20% of the time, they turn out to be of extremely low quality, rendering them virtually useless. This makes the shopping experience even more disappointing.

Unfavorable Exchange Rates: Telus's exchange rates for currencies other than dollars are reportedly subpar, meaning you could be losing money when dealing with foreign currencies.

Tax Implications: The amount that Telus reimburses you for your expenses is considered as income by tax authorities. This means that you may have to pay taxes on the full reimbursement amount, further reducing your earnings.

In summary, the Telus Mystery Shopper online job falls short of its promised pay rate, as each job is timed for 30 minutes while in reality, they take 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. Shopping at problematic online stores, delayed refunds, low-quality products, unfavorable exchange rates, and potential tax implications make this job far less attractive than it initially seems. Workers might end up with minimal earnings for their substantial time and effort.

Not paying!

The worst experience ever! I have been working in Telus since June 2023. And I received the payment only for a month of work. The payment was in time so I kept working hoping that its a reliable company. Today is 15 October and I have not received any payment for previous months. It takes them daaaays to reply to my email when I ask them when I receive my salary. They told me they are pending for some legal regulations. WHAT? Waiting for how long? More than three month. Stay away from this company.

Avoid being a Telus rater at all costs

Avoid being a Telus rater at all costs. To be an employee you have to agree to give them all of your personal data- they have access to all of your email messages, internet search history, and more. If I wasn't desperate for cash I never would have agreed to this. The pay is terrible - $14/hr. You can't get in touch with anyone ever- multiple emails go unanswered for months at a time. They don't care about you at all and don't explain the purpose of this job- it's like being in Black Mirror or Severance. Absolutely terrible experience and only for the truly desperate. To add insult to injury, I just received an immediate termination notice with no reason for firing- my scores were good and I met all the requirements of my contract. Of course, there has been no response to my emails requesting a reason so I can file for unemployment. Absolutely despicable.

A bit sketchy

I'm writing this review just in case anyone is checking them out prior to taking the Rater exam. Unfortunately, I didn't. They give you close to 200 pages of guidelines to study for the exam. Within the initial email they state that the entire exam can be completed in 3-4 hours. With that info, I decided to go ahead with the exam. The exam is in 3 parts. Part 1 is 10 pages and they allot 30 min for each page with breaks being allowed between each page. They state that finishing too fast will result in a fail so they encourage you to use the full 30 min, which you actually need. Parts 2 and 3 both have 7 pages with the same 30 min per page allotted, which again, you also need. Using my 3rd grade math skills, I add that up to be a 12 hour exam. Where was my 3-4 hour exam? LOL After passing both parts 1 and 2, I failed the 3rd part. There is no feedback and no one reply's back from the "support" email you initially receive prior to the exam. (I also got the email that they "released" my gmail account to use freely like another reviewer) Then they sent me another email inviting me to retake part 3. I again take part 3 and receive an email 2 minutes after completing the exam that I did not pass. I have no idea why. I followed the guidelines and researched every site. This is from someone who graduated university with a 4.0 GPA. It all seems quite sketchy. It seems like an unethical way to train someone at best and a way to get free labor at worst.

data collection scam

This is a data collection scam (at best), in some job posts they require screenshots of your PERSONAL Apple id for "verification" as they say. Be careful

Toxic work environment

- toxic work environment
- bullying behavior from manager and team lead
- no transparent, open and honest communication
- focus on mistakes (such as copy paste mistakes in Excel)
- no ideas for improvement were allowed
- concerns from employees have not been taken serious
- actively left employees out when manager made decisions that had a huge impact on employees daily work
- very traditional and hierarchical management system

What they should do better:
listen to your employees, take your employees and their concerns serious, include employees in decisions that will have an impact on their work, give employees space for improvement, no not focus on mistakes but on development and solution strategies, work WITH your employee - not against him. Be friendly and respectful to everyone.

Mind Boggling Confusion IMO

As others have stated here it is a "dictionary" of learning materials which is unpaid, and the test is unpaid. I could've completed a Master's Degree in the time it took to read over and understand their abbreviations which are NOT spelled out.

The test for a QSR does not match the learning materials but although they spam to take the test and supply a support email while taking it, support does not answer. The questions are very abstract and not succinct. Plus they advise you to run your own timer as it is timed but doesn't tell you how long. I am glad I read other reviews here now so would not ever even contact them again. 4 different emails too. Mind-boggling.

They are kind enough (in their words) to release my email. I didn't know they were in charge of it but they stated I could now "use it as usual". Huh???? I was using it and honestly giving me permission to use it seemed so odd!

They also advised me I must remove all materials from my computer. I did not sign a Non-Disclosure and will delete the files as they are large but I found them quite rude. I was only given 3 days' notice of the test after a month of waiting.

I also did not know about the state-specific requirements others mentioned or the low pay as I received no answers from support on any questions ever. They had reached out to me so was clueless about everything.
