Lovely cottage in great location
We stayed at Lorna Doone Cottage in Lynmouth. A lovely, comfortable cottage. Well placed for exploring the local area. Riverside footpath to Watersmeet right on the doorstep.
Booking all straightforward

Redway Lodge
Redway Lodge Porlock:
Great flexible accommodation for a large group - with 4 bathrooms very convenient.
Perfect location with spectacular views within easy walking distance of characterful pubs & shops
Lovely spot on the moors
This is the third time staying. Beautiful spot for walks with the children and dog. Plenty of space for the whole family to have a pre Xmas get together.
Harbour Apartment Porlock Pier
This year we decided to stay for two weeks at the Harbour Apartment Porlock Wier which was a wonderful idea.
The views and position are spectacular.
Waking up each day looking out across the Porlock Marshes towards Hurlestone Point and Bossington is so beautiful with the ever changing colours of the sky.
The apartment is spacious and ver cosy.
The walks s on one's doorstep are very special indeed.
Linhay Cottage
The location for us is fantastic. Looking out across fields towards the moors is just brilliant. The field access for the dog works really well. Comfy bed and seating. Helpful neighbours in Bev and Geoff who let us have access to logs during the 48 hour power cut so we kept very cosy. Seeing the deer in the fields was a bonus too. Well equipped kitchen. We will be back! Sue Bird
Luccombe Cottage, Luccombe, Exmoor
Lovely converted building, well equipped, although if there were 4 people, just one bathroom with toilet might be an issue. We were there at Christmas and it was warm without needing the log burner. Very quiet and dark at night. Very comfy beds. Outdoor welly boot rack, and plenty of hooks inside the kitchen cupboard for outdoor wear.
Although no food provided (as they state - to avoid waste) in addition to what is listed, they do provide tea towels, kitchen towels, oven gloves, cling film, foil, dishwasher tabs and liquid, bin liners, dishcloth and brush - helpful to know what not to bring, There is also a Karcher machine to remove the condensation on the windows.
TV is freesat only, so we brought our Firestick, which was helpful.
Parking would be tight if both cottages had large SUVs
December break much needed
Along with my wife and our three small dogs we stayed at West Wind in Porlock for 10 days in December.
We did have an issue with no electric on the Saturday on arrival, but I was able to purchase some candles and get Fish and chips from Minehead power was lost at two other times but did not effect our stay and thanks to National Grid for getting sorted.
West Wind is an excellent base and we enjoyed the views and the comfort we were awarded by the property. As always we frequented the pubs in the area and managed to walk on Dunster Beach everyday of the holiday, Best of Exmoor offer some great properties and along with the others we have stayed in this is again excellent
Old Malt House Monksilver
Lovely cottage in a lovely village. Location ideal for discovering Somerset. Notley Arms pub is located less than a minutes walk and is a perfect country pub for a drink and something to eat.
The Gapperies - stunning views & beautiful house
Beautiful house with stunning views! Our stay was perfect with walks from the house and cosy family times around the fireplace.
Ideal for a family gathering
This is an extremely spacious barn - ideal for our family gathering. Yes it sleeps 10 but more practically you can seat 10 at the table, cater for 10 and have 10 people watching TV in comfort! Fridge/freezer is big, dishwasher a godsend and not one but 2 cookers and a hob available. Washer/dryer on hand although we did not need to use.
We had 6 adults staying including 3 pensioners. The ground floor bedroom was a godsend for my father in law who unexpectedly was suffering with his mobility. The property was so warm and the woodburner is always a winner for us, with wood supply plentiful.
The location is glorious- we properly lucked out with the weather and the views across to Wales were fantastic. Be ready for some medium to strenuous walks - there are an abundance from your front door. This wasn’t ideal for our elderly parents but to be honest as it was a short winter break they didn’t plan on being outside! There are plenty of scenic drives. Enclosed garden brilliant for our dogs.
Note it’s a wee drive to Porlock or Minehead for shopping and the nearest pub is probably 4 miles (Blue Ball at Countisbury which was lovely) so likely you’ll want a designated driver. But we went prepared for all of the above and had no bother at all eating out or catering for ourselves.
Farm dog Colby, was a superstar and was very happy to show us round! We had a lovely week and would definitely consider returning.
Stay at Coachman's Cottage
We love it here. Quiet and peaceful.
The cottage is lovely and cosy and has everything you need for your stay.
Its a great place for dogs , if you have one, with very safe enclosed courtyard and orchard at the back of the house for them to run free.
This was our 4th visit over the years and even with storm Darragh raging outside all was well.
David, our host, went out of his way to make sure we were safe warm and comfortable.
A lovely place to stay!
A lovely place to stay, warm, clean and relaxing.
Wonderful views; go to bed and wake up looking across the sea.
Lot's of walking and places to visit around the area.
A real gem!
4 nights at The Hayloft, Oare
We spent 4 nights at The Hayloft, Oare. It is a very well appointed house, warm and snug, even in the snow! It's a very peaceful location but close to fabulous walks and the coast. The fog lived it! We will definitely return.
Oare Manor Near Lynmouth
We have had a lovely relaxing week staying at Oare Manor Cottage. Fantastic walks directly from the house.
we particularly enjoyed the garden which has plenty of seating areas and was totally secure for our dog.
We will definitely look to return.
Garden View, Porlock Weir
What a great place to stay surrounded by beautiful countryside. Its a large well equipped and spacious apartment in a fantastic location with its own private garden. When we arrived it was spotlessly clean.
It is a 5 minute walk to the beach, from there turn left for a short walk to Porlock Weir or turn right to get onto Porlock marsh and and the start of many walks.
I would recommend this to couples and families alike.
Merrijig, Dulverton
This was our third stay at Merrijig. It's a clean, comfortable and VERY well equipped house, perfectly situated for exploring Exmoor. We look forward to our fourth visit!
Lovely setting
We stayed at Dairy Cottage Dulverton for a week and loved every minute of it. There were bird feeders right outside the window and that was a real highlight. Also the Red Deer were just down the road along with the ponies. I would definitely recommend and the owners were so helpful.Booking with The Best of Exmoor was really easy, a lovely company. We will be back.
Stay at West Wind Porlock
The house is in a superb location, with amazing views across Porlock Hill and over Porlock Marsh to the sea (and Wales). Being on a small private road off the A39 it was quiet, and with few street lights the stars in the dark skies were amazing.
The accommodation and facilities were comfortable.
Guests should be aware there is a steep flight of steps from the parking area to the house.
We had great week at The School House…
We had great week at The School House in Countisbury. Great location, very well equipped and our party of 8 (aged 9 to 78) loved the table tennis table. The property is well located to explore Exmoor and we enjoyed golf, pony trekking and quad biking. Wouldn't hesitate to book there again
The Old Kitchen - so beautiful…
The Old Kitchen is the most beautiful cottage. The furnishings and bedlinen are high quality and have been thoughtfully curated, making the cottage feel comfortable, sumptuous and special.
We arrived off the damp misty moors and were greeted with a delicious cake, milk, eggs, bread all in a cosy and warm cottage - such a treat.
We will definitely book again when we return!
