Room for Improvement
I think the general idea of the plan is great, anything that gets people exercising and eating healthier is great, but it has its flaws. Joe Wicks is all about balance, mental health, enjoying food and life, but that does not come through in the plan. Rather than being a sustainable, healthy lifestyle and education in nutrition like it's advertised, it's a restrictive diet with focus on progress and results.
Considering the meal plan is based on calorie deficit and counting macros, I find it frustrating that the plan doesn't actually tell you how it works. You're just expected to follow the recipes or a very over simplified rules for creating your own dishes, but no explanation why. The plan doesn't educate you how to work out your macros on your own, how to sustain it after the 90 days, unless of course you pay them more money and follow the graduate plan.
Though Joe himself is all about balance and having treats and meals out, the plan doesn't really allow any room for this. The plan's motto "Not every day is perfect, don't let a bad day of eating become a bad week of eating" labels plan good, everything off plan bad. The plan is definitely a trigger for disordered eating and the plan's Facebook group is full of evidence of this. Even I fell in the trap of thinking how I needed to earn a treat or if I behave myself all week, I can treat myself, behaviour I never had before plan, behaviour that is not healthy.
The focus on progress is also a huge part of the workouts. Especially once weights are added, in all the videos Joe keeps telling to progress, to up the weights every week. This seems to have lead to a lot of injuries because people think they need to up their weights several kilos in matter of weeks, but there isn't much talk about checking your form. Even in general a person who hasn't done any exercise in years, shouldn't just jump in and start working out at high intensity five times a week like the plan wants you to do. And with such focus on achieving results in the 90 days rather than just kickstarting a healthier lifestyle, rather than taking time off to heal properly, people are exercising through injuries and illnesses.
The plan has its support heroes, ie. people you can message with any enquiries. However their response rate is extremely slow, and quite often their replies aren't helpful at all. This leads to people asking advice on the Facebook group and as you can imagine, there is a lot of misinformation going around. The admins of the group aren't reachable either, nor do they ever get involved with the conversation. There isn't any monitoring (unless, of course, you dare to question the plan and your post will get removed in hours), even though there are people clearly struggling.
There are plenty of positives about the plan, but it definitely needs a lot of improvement. It doesn't reflect what Joe manifests on his personal life and though it can give people impressive results, it can be damaging to mental health. For a plan that's supposed to be an education, it expects you to have plenty of background knowledge. I'm lucky that I have that background knowledge in exercise and nutrition (only joined the plan out of curiosity), but most people joining are complete beginners, with a history of yo-yo dieting. It really should go back to the basics and deeper, explain why it all works, why it's a fat loss plan and how it differs from weight loss, be more about a healthy, balanced lifestyle that is truly sustainable beyond the 90 days and not just about the results.
I joined with such a positive view and full of excitement, but barely got half way through when I was left with such disappointment and frustration that I ditched the plan and just kept doing what I do best: plenty of exercise and healthy eating combined with enjoying my life. No measurements taken, no weighing incredients, no counting macros, and I'm a lot happier. Won't be recommending the plan to anyone.
No personalised
It wasn’t for me. Not personalised or check ups. I feel the programme is standard and not personalised and the videos for the workouts are available on YouTube (for free)
Just buy a book so you’ve got receipts and watch the videos on YouTube for C1, C2 and C3, you’ll get the same and much cheaper. Not valued for money
Hard work pays off! Great food!
I thought I'd pop a review down here as all the recent reviews have shockingly been poor...
This is a plan where you get out of it what you put in. I am now on week 7 of the plan and I have never been in better shape, the food is delicious (I pick the meals I know I'll like and I don't expect the cakes to be Betty Crocker, however they are tasty regardless!) and the workouts are challenging. I'm a 25 y/o male, I've lost 5 kg (77kg-> 72kg) so far, I feel healthier, stronger and happier than I have all year.
If you are thinking about it then just do it. I ordered mine and received the plan 3 days later. I received my second cycle after just 1 day.
It isn't easy, but nothing worth having comes easy. It's as simple as that.
Absolute waste of money!!
I wish i had read these reviews before purchasing the 90 day body plan. I followed Joe on Instagram and have all his cook books. From now on i will be avoiding anything Joe Wicks. I feel disillusioned and conned!!!!
There is no way this is customised plan. I feel it a general plan that most people will get. I recieved cycle one. A few weeks later i got an awful pain in my neck which ended up being a trapped nerve radiating down my right arm. I was in alot of pain and My GP said no impact exercise. I knew i would not be able to complete the programme. I contacted the team explained everything they only partially refunded me. No one explained why???? But i assumed its because i had already received cycle 1. What can i do with cycle 1 without the rest of the programme??What a con no wonder Joe Wicks is raking it in!!!!!! . The sad thing is that i really liked Joe Wicks before this but not now. What an absolute con. I will ensure that i warn others not to waste their money.
I love the 90 Day Plan
I love the 90 Day Plan!
I received my plan within the timeframe allocated once purchased and fell in love with the clear instructions, information, planned workouts and yummy recipes.
All the recipes which I have tried so far have all been amazing, really quick and easy to make and left me feeling really full and not wanting to snack after. The BBQ Meatballs are my personal favourite so far, along with the Totally Tropical Smoothie!
The ingredients for each meal are tailored to your given measurements which gives it a more personalised feel.
The workouts are tough and leave me sweating cobs but I love them! They are only accessible once you have your plan and you are taken to a private playlist on YouTube for members only which also includes a warm up you can follow and an additional abs section. You can choose to follow along with Joe (Who sweats and swears with you, lol) or see the demo and go it alone.
There are three cycles, C1, C2 & C3. For each cycle completed, you get a new booklet, new recipes and new workouts.
All in all, such a great plan and it is really changing my body and my mind! I can't wait till my 90 Days is up so I can see just how far I have come.
Thank you Joe for creating such a fab plan!
Really disappointed
Really disappointed. I've followed Joe on Instagram for months so I constantly see the 'delicious' and 'quick' meals he cooks. None of which are anywhere to be seen in the 90 day plan. It really feels like false advertising.
I've tried multiple recipes now and most of them are inedible! The meal plan does not feel customised at all and I really feel ripped off by the entire thing. I really enjoy good food which is what drew me to the plan in the first place. The promise of good food with the compromise of working out daily. That's definitely not what was delivered. The workouts are already available on Youtube for free so I basically paid for a PDF with recipes that were not tailored to me, everyone gets pretty much the same thing (see other reviews). Here are some of the recipes I tried.
1. Cauliflower Cheese Soup - absolutely vile. The addition of the protein powder gives it a bizarre taste.
2. Spinach loaded frittata - I've made hundreds of frittatas which are quick, simple, healthy and delicious. The recipe provided in the veggie cycle one plan was INEDIBLE. It tasted like cardboard, there's far too much spinach against the other ingredients and it was so awful I had to bin it. I hate wasting food so that was really hard for me to do. My husband tried it and gagged.
3. Cookies and cream muffins - sounds good right? Again, they tasted like cardboard, the measurements provided are COMPLETELY inaccurate - makes 12 apparently, but even using extra large muffin holders there was far too much batter and I could have easily made 24 not 12. The taste? Imagine chocolate cake with no sweetness at all. What's the point?
If you enjoy tasty, delicious food, this plan is not for you. If you like spending money on tasteless, bland cardboard tasting food, then go for it!
I paid for the plan but nothing received …
I paid for the plan and received nothing, after making many complaints i decided I wanted I refund. Was informed that I would receive a refund, however many weeks later I'm still waiting. I have contacted his accounts team several times and I'm still waiting for a refund. Don't waste your money. Absolutely ridiculous.
The food plan was terrible don’t waste money
The food plan was terrible , no thought or personal touch to this business , I thought the business would be more accessible with a custom feel, more personal but it’s not. The meal plan was ridiculous. Don’t be taken in by Joe he is not day to day, just showing off his flash lifestyle and new mansion in Surrey at the moment (sorry but it does leave a bad taste when you hang on to peoples money) Wouldn’t refund my full amount as the company are rigid on their Terms & Conditions, because they are on the make and not interested in peoples valid issues ..
think twice before you sign up.. eat healthy and walk some more...
A great starter plan - not for anyone experienced
I bought the 90 Day Plan as a motivator during Lockdown. I’ve dieted & trained for years & yet never really got the results I wanted. I haven’t on this plan either.
It’s not really tailored to each person, which I had guessed, others seem to have been disappointed by that. The ingredient quantities are tweaked I guess based on your height, weight, measurements & gender. However there’s a lot more to weight loss or changing your body than this. The initial questionnaire asks about some other well known conditions like Thyroid or Diabetes. It doesn’t ask about your previous efforts or if you normally exercise. It doesn’t look at a lot of hormonal issues women suffer through like perimenopause. I think it’s very much tailored around men & then it works for some women who are younger & always ate badly/never exercised. If asks about injuries, which I listed, the Workouts I got were the same as everyone else though. I have enough experience to know how to adapt them, others don’t.
The food in C1 was very low carb & I lost inches. The recipes were good. They do seem to assume you work out early though. C2 I gained back everything I lost in C1. The Support Hero’s were no support & aren’t “live”. C3 food was better & I lost a lot of inches. Overall though I ended up 3kg heavier.
After 90 Days I moved to the grad plan. Another 3 cycles. I’ve just finished the first of these & essentially am going backwards. All my losses are gone. The Super Heroes advise is to cut my meals by 10% & not have my snacks. Which is odd as it’s “ tailored” to my stats?!? Overall their responses are all 2-3 days later & clearly from a script, having compared with others on the forum. I requested my macros so I could track them & they refused.
Overall I think this is not the plan for me. It may have worked for me 20 years ago when I ate badly & never exercised. At this stage of my life though I need a plan that builds on what I’ve already done & support heroes who can give me real answers.
If you’re not sure about food or exercise then it’s a great plan to start with.
No plan recieved in promised time line still not recieved
I bought the plan over a week ago still not recieved, also have sent a request for info to let me know when I will receive it, but no reply! Poorly managed! should have resources to meet demands when placing an offer, suggest to avoid for the mean time, hopefully the plan will be to a good standard when recieved. Information on the website would be useful a may reduce the amount of inquiries following ordering the plan, that way customer service would stand a chance to reply to other queries. Very disappointed in a highly respected health and fitness support program.
No plan received after 10days....still waiting
I brought the plan over 10 days ago , submitted measurements. I have emailed twice and not had any response on how and when the plan will be ready, so far very disappointed....
Inaccurate website info
I signed up for the 90 day plan at the reduced offer rate of £50 believing the website info that I would receive the plan in 5 days. After paying I was informed that it could be 10-14 days due to high demand etc. This is OK with me but the website should be giving accurate info. I emailed an enquiry and was politely fobbed off twice when I asked if they were going to change the website info. I look forward to starting the plan once I get it!
Ideal plan for anyone who wants to develop a healthier relationship with food!
This plan has really helped me with my portion sizes. Although I have always been classed as “slim” I was not healthy. My eating habits were herendous and only after completing the plan I actually realised how bad they where. My potion sized where triple the size of what they should be, always having troubles with my tummy etc. Now I understand what my body needs to fuel it, I am and feet fit and I have also lost weight too along the way.. win win all around! 😁
LOVE LOVE LOVE
Completed the 90 days...absolutely loved the food and exercise.
the way I feel now physically and mentally is something I would pay 10 times over for....
Tried lots of fad diets in the past but never managed to stick to them. This feels so much more sustainable long term.
I am now doing the grad plan and still loving it... if you work hard you will get results.
Few people moaning about poor results....these people probably think that paying for the plan and having it sitting in their inbox will get them the results they dream of🤷🏻♀️......if you stick at it and work hard The results will follow.....
The personalised plan is well not…
The personalised plan is well not personalised. Everyone gets the same workouts regardless of ability age weight etc.. and the food is the same except they slightly skew the weights of items you have and you can tell this is just done by putting your weight into a algorithm. There is no personal touch in this plan whatsoever and when it comes to dieting/losing weight one shoe does not fit all.
Good starting point, poor post-plan support
It’s probably a good starting point for anyone who doesn’t know much about macros or calorie consumption/burn, and wants something easy to follow. It does the calculations for you so you don’t need to think about it, just cook the meals with the ingredient quantities prescribed. 3 meals per day and 2 snacks, 4-5 workouts per week.
The recipes are tasty and there are a couple of options each Cycle that allow you to batch cook and freeze, which is handy if you’re busy. There are also quantity allowances for key ingredients which allow you to create your own meals if you want something different.
However, unless you choose to stay ‘on plan’ for the rest of your life, it’s very poor in terms of post-plan maintenance. It doesn’t tell you what your estimated calorie consumption should be or what your macro split is (carbs:fat:protein), both of which are key for sustaining results in the long term and building plan principles into every day life. Don’t get me wrong, it’s possible to do the work yourself and find this information out online, but for the price you pay for the plan I think it’s a fundamental missing part.
I also echo the other reviews about it not being very ‘personally’ tailored. From what I can tell, the ingredient quantities are tailored based only on age and some sort of BMI calculation, and it doesn’t take into account any of the other info you put into your initial questionnaire.
Joe wicks 100% proof plan
Amazing! It works if you trust the plan and put the hard work in. The food is incredible! Workouts are tough, but so good!! I’ve dropped 2-3 dress sizes over the 90 days! I feel incredible in myself! Couldn’t recommend it more! In fact I have, two of my friends are signing up as results show!!
The best thing I've ever done!
An amazing plan that has made such a difference to my health & fitness!
There are many reviews on here which state it is not a personalised plan or that the workouts are available for free on YouTube. This is inaccurate information. The recipes are the same for everyone but the quantities are personalised to you, your measurements & activity level. You submit results every 30 days where you receive new recipes with adjusted quantity amounts. The workouts are on YouTube but are private videos not accessible to the public. Only those who have paid for the plan receive the links to the videos.
Not only have I completed the 90 day plan, but last week I finished the 90 Graduate Plan. I'm in the best shape of my life & have really enjoyed both the food & the workouts. I'll be continuing to follow the principles of the plan for food & will continue with the workouts, because it works. Worth every single penny & if I could sign up for another 90 days, I would do so without question!
This plan has changed my life
This plan has changed my life! During lockdown I was able to fully commit and use the time to put me first for a change! It helped my mood, energy, sleep and relationships with both food and exercise. I can’t recommend it enough!
Best thing I have ever done
Best thing I have ever done , yes some of the exercises are tough but they can be adapted to suit your needs, if your injured etc.
Recipes are totally delicious and work well with allergies as can be adapted.
Definitely recommend after 40 plus years finally rid of my sugar addiction
