The Futon Shop misleads you.

The Futon Shop is as deceptive as the law allows. In direct response to a pre-order question about a loveseat futon frame, my question and answer were posted to the product Q&A suggesting a less labor-intensive assembly process than the product actually required. Immediately after placing my order I received an email saying that the items were left in my shopping cart instead of purchased, even though I had received purchase confirmation emails both from them and from Pay-Pal. This could mislead some people into duplicating a high-ticket purchase. Two days after placing my order, while I was still waiting for it to be put together and shipped out to me, my customer login at their site turned into an unidentified error page from their customer account software. Reports of this problem to their online chat, to a contact form and even an email to the technical contact listed for their domain name in a whois search made all made no difference I haven't been able to look at my account since. Later, I got an email asking me to rate and review their website and mentioned this problem. I got a Futon Shop response falsely claiming it was a one-time glitch and asking for an error code not given in a way different from the site problem. One can only presume this demonstrates a lack of interest in fixing their website problem and misleading those who read the review. Finally, I gave a critical review on their site for the futon frame I bought and a positive review of the futon mattress, and only the positive one was published to the product pages on their site.

SCAM!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE!!!

SCAM!!! DO NOT GIVE THESE CRIMINALS YOUR MONEY!!!
Found a dog bed we liked on their site.... a SMALL dog bed. The price was something like $64. When we got to the checkout process, website said it was $60, that’s right, $60 for shipping!!! I live less than 300 miles away, got a rate quote from fedex, shipping on that size and weight to my home is $16!!! I wasn’t about to pay such an inflated charge, so I googled coupon codes for this store. I found one for free shipping, that was placed online only days before, and entered it on the site, which responded that it was an invalid code. I immediately emailed customer service, and got a reply the next day from Miguel staying they weren’t going to honor the coupon. I told them this was unfair, and that the coupon had their company logo on it, and therefore they have to honor it. I was basically told to go kick rocks, and that they didn’t need my business. If you like throwing your money away, rather than giving it to these unscrupulous characters, please just send it to me. $60 to ship a small dog bed such a short distance? Maybe I’m in the wrong line of work. If you want to be treated like a piece of dirt, by all means, order from these criminals

If I had know how bad their customer service was I would have shopped somewhere else.

2 Mails to customer service - they never responded. Seven days trying to connect with chat - Not available. When I did get through - left on hold for an hour. Finally got (and I'm not making this up) "futonjedimaster" Burt Bun, who tried to convince me that it was my problem and up-sell me on more products (later denying he did so - email is trackable Burt). "We do have cocopads (had to remove the link to post this review) that are very dense pads that can go over the slats and would alleviate that problem if that is what you believe to be causing your discomfort. Memory foam may be the issue. Some people bodies don't respond well to it, especially in the raw form (meaning no wool or cotton wrap) A wool topper may do the trick or even a piece of latex for the top instead of memory foam." Is indeed an attempt to have me spend 4-5 hundred dollars so solve the problem. Saying "I am not trying to upsell you on anything. Period." does not change that. The rest of the email Burt sent, went on in an attempt to brow beat me. I'm guessing that Burt thinks he has "Jedi Mind Tricks", hard to say. In the end, (after emailing them the day after arrival) the customer service has stalled me out of the 30 day warranty and now doesn't respond to my emails. So I'm stuck with a $800 dollar purchase (with delivery) and a mattress that I cannot use taking up space in my small dwelling. Needless to say, buyer beware.

Futon Company Manchester, excellent products and service

Called at the Manchester store last Wednesday 11 April. What a great and creative range of stock and at great prices! We bought a number of items and were served by Samuel who was really helpful. He arranged for us to call and pick up on Friday. A quick call before and Daniel had everything ready and helped us to the car.
I can't recommend the manchester store and their staff highly enough!

The couch is great. Shipping wasn’t so great.

Well Worth the money I paid. It is very comfortable and easy to use. It met all of my expectations. The only thing I would say needs improvement is the outside delivery company they use. My couch was supposed to come at a scheduled delivery date between 12pm and 4pm. I had to ask a friend to wait at my house because I had to work. They banged on my door at 10am. Luckily my sister happened to be home that day. When she answered the door the guy said “do you need me to help you bring it inside because I don’t have time.” Shipping from California to NJ was not cheap and it had to sit on my front porch until I got home. If you are having something delivered and it is by them I would expect to take off the entire day in case they come early.

Never forever

I bought my mattress there. I paid $240 delivery fee in total for my mattress. They didn't even remove my old mattress. I called them complaining my frustration. After a week, I am surprised to receive a very bad attitude email from them. I also bought a bed frame from them a few months ago. Will never do business again with them.

The following is what happened.
1. Bought coco rest online. Paid $170 for delivery
2. Got delivery notice call from the Futon shop, and was told the delivery guys will remove the old mattress and i just need to tip them. Double confirmed this info with the guy who called me.
3. Mattress arrived, so called extra firm can be bended not firm at all and i rejected to accept it. Didn't use the mattress removal service at that time.
4. Changed to coco max, and the $170 delivery fee not refunded. Paid another $70 for coco max delivery.
5. Mattress arrived, asked for mattress removal service i didn't use last time and got rejected. So i told them i will give bad review for sure. It is different than threatening if not remove then i will give bad review.
6, Receive a very rude email from the sales guy. He said i threatened them and i will get no more from The Futon Shop.

That's the whole story. I didn't want to waste my time to give bad review before i received the rude email from them. As well, i didn't want to waste time to tell the whole story before The Futon Shop customer service unfairly replied my review.

After talking with all departments it looks like we accommodated you. Written below explains that we fully accommodated you, but because you did not want to pay for a service, you threatened to leave a bad review. The Futon Shop communicates with their customers and explains what they are paying for and gives details what the products are and what The Futon Shop has to offer. The Futon Shop communicated with you personally three times on your order line by line. The Futon Shop even decreased your shipping. There should not have been any confusion, yet we explained to you on every issue you brought to us. Again, The Futon Shop explained it to you line by line three times.
It was explained to you that at delivery, the drivers would only be dropping off your mattress, but when the driver's arrived, you demanded that they pick up and remove your existing mattress. When we told you that this service was not included on your invoice and you would have to pay for this service, you then threatened that if we do not remove it you were going to leave a bad review. The Futon Shop takes customer service seriously. The Futon Shop has assisted you fully and if you have any other questions that we actually can possibly help you with please email customerservice@thefutonshop.com

First and possibly last purchase at the Futon Shop

I was originally drawn to the Futon Shop because I am passionate about living a clean and organic life for me and my family. I read a wonderful blog post about the "organic futon" and immediately went to the store to ask questions and check out the futon options. However, upon my arrival, the store felt very stale and disorganized. I placed one order online and another order in person, the team was friendly but extremely disorganized. They couldn't find my order then kept me waiting, which was horrible especially after spending $2,500!! They constantly made me wait and never seemed ready with anything, it all felt very unprofessional. They were somewhat accommodating after messing up our order by telling us our bed mattress was ready, we even rented a truck to go pick up the mattress and it wasn't ready, so they delivered it to us but I had to miss the first part of my workday to be there. I do not think we will purchase from here ever again because the service was so disorganized but I do love the products.

2 years of experience with Chemical free comfort rest

I bought a chemical free comfort rest exactly 2 years ago now. And I think these guys aren't up to mark yet. I have a few problems with my mattress and few with the business. After about a year of use the mattress started sagging and have high and low spots depending on where you sleep and when I changed my direction one day, I just couldn't sleep at all because of the highs trying to push you on one side. Thats the last thing you want from your mattress. On top of it this company do not deliver mattress at home and will not pick it up if the mattress doesn't work out even if it is within there 30 days period. I had to rent a truck for $200 to go pick this up and just couldn't go return it because this would have caused another $200 to me to go return so I can get my $800 back. So basically I'm getting only half my money back plus the hassle. Very bad deal for me. Wouldn't wanna shop here again and will never recommend.

Nice to find a japanese style futon

Nice to find a japanese style futon, made here in the U.S. without being made of foam. Really fair prices, feels like good quality, and helps a business in my state. The shipping hurts, but that cannot be helped.

Firm but it ain't what it is advertised to be

The futon was described as Firm but I feel that there is not enough stuffing(cotton) in it to keep it firm. I am not happy because I sink into it and it is not comfortable.

Satisfactory

Website was easy to use for ordering. Felt 17 days to receive product was a bit lengthy. While construction and workmanship is excellent, the quality of material I selected is disappointing. The zipper is only at one end of the cover, my previous cover zippered on 3 sides.
