The Good Food Guide was founded by Raymond Postgate in 1951 and today it remains the longest-standing and best selling guide to dining out in Great Britain. To cover the best establishments across the country, we look to our discerning reader’s tip-offs and suggestions. Whether there’s a promising new chef in town or a remote country pub that’s upped its game, we’ll send one of our 30 inspectors to give their expert assessment on the food, hospitality and whether it’s worth making a trip for. All inspections are paid for by the Guide and are conducted anonymously to ensure no preferential treatment is received. No establishment can pay for inclusion to the Guide and we do not accept free meals, so you can be confident our recommendations are offered with the utmost impartiality. For consistency we allow a new restaurant, cafe or pub to settle in for a period of three to six months before we send an inspector to review. To keep pace with the dynamic nature of today’s hospitality industry, we have brought the Guide into a new digital era. By becoming a member of The Good Food Guide Club, you have access to The Good Food Guide app, which means hundreds of trusted reviews are at your fingertips and always up to date. The Guide is constantly evolving to offer Good Food Guide Club members the most reliable assessment of the British dining scene. Club members also have access to restaurant news, features and useful location guides full of on-the-ground knowledge.

I loved the old printed version of the Good Food Guide and am enjoying the digital version - especially with the interactive map that shows recommended restaurants nearby.
I don't understand the negative comments. I find the Guide just as useful as it was in book form. It is comprehensive in its reviews and the maps seem accurate. I would recommend it and will continue to use it.
Eventually you can find what you are looking for. I suspect the new owners are finding their feet and still struggling with the impacts of Covid and Brexit on the restaurant trade. The IT needs to be sharper, with better map searching. But I have had some great meals out, in areas where I had no contacts, thanks to the guide.

The new digital platform of the GFG is starting to really get into its stride now, lots more venues rated and reviewed across more of the UK. It will probably never fill the hole in my heart left by the demise of the old printed GFG but I get why digital makes sense now. The scoring is a little limited and I feel could do with a bit more granularity - another 1 or 2 categories maybe?

Useless waste of money. I first started using the GFG decades ago when it was an absolute joy. It's gradually declined.
Compared to previous owners Waitrose the present incumbents don't seem to have the spirit or heft to do a proper job as custodians of this erstwhile national treasure.

You are getting there. However, your 'search' facility is far too broad and it really isn't very helpful. For example 'Newport' brings up lots of restaurants, but none in Newport (I was looking for Robert Thompson on the Isle of Wight - no restaurants there at present).
Second I prefer a numeric scoring system - in the paper guides you used a rating of 1 - 10 so very easy to instantly understand - words are too subjective and tend to be repetitive.
Hope the above helps.

What a swindle. I asked for restaurants near me and I got a few in Cardiff and Wales, plus one in London. Thus far an absolute rip off. Will explore further, but thus far it looks like a disaster

website is atrociously inadequate. filters useless. No ability to select cuisine. Too slow. Search on 'Waterloo' just produced places in Covent Garden.
Search on 'London SE1' wouldn't work

Wrote a review, as shown below, they got in contact to discuss my comments.
Unlike other books featuring reviews they refused to allow me, access to their over priced app.
I spend my retirement going to restaurants and used to submit my reviews to the good food guide to increase their database.
I use another resource far more than TGFG to find new venues to visit, but I did sometimes trawl their pages for new outings.
I have now done over 1700 reviews on trip advisor and had 111 michelin stars.
The previous owners kindly allowed me free access to the app, and in return they would get sometimes 3-4 reviews a month.
Now I am offered the app at around half price for the privilege of sending the guide loads of reviews.
Ah NO, shame I enjoyed sharing my reviews, will just share elsewhere.
Your loss!
I really don't need you trying to contact me again, you have done that and not changed your position. I have sentvyou over 100 reviews of restaurants but your failure to recognise that by insisting I pay for the "privilege" of sending you more means you won't get any more
