not really a gym for serious resistance training. A lack of plate loaded chest machines ( for those prefering these to free bars), means that the one and only Smiths machine is over booked with all the other exercises it is used for.
Not enough cables to cope with the many clients insisting that they use two sets of cables to train biceps and triceps together or two cables for chest flys. Otherwise very clean and always air conditioned and generally pretty good car parking. The Company, instead of offering a free entry to a prize draw of £250 would be better off spending that money on more equipment.

Customer service 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Title: Terrible Customer Service & Unfair Refund Policy! Avoid This Place!
"I am extremely disappointed with the customer service and the cancellation process at this establishment. I requested a membership cancellation due to medical reasons and provided all the necessary documentation.
However, they are using weak and unacceptable excuses to avoid refunding my money. They claimed my name didn't match perfectly, completely ignoring that my registered email, phone number, date of birth, and membership ID are all identical to the documentation provided. Furthermore, the payment was made directly from my personal bank account, which I offered to prove with a bank statement, but they still refuse to cooperate.
This is a clear attempt to delay and hold onto customers' money unfairly. The staff is unhelpful, and the procedures are designed to complicate refunds rather than help members. I would strongly advise everyone to think twice before joining this place. Their professionalism disappears the moment you ask for a refund!"

Staff are great but env poor

Staff are great. But Aircon has not been working for two weeks now (and it’s over 20 degrees out today) and there is still no spray and towels for machines despite requests. Why do we even need to ask? Lots of reports of illness from lack of cleaning of machines. Becoming a bit of joke with the clientele now.

The hip abduction machine hazard

The hip abduction machine has been damaged for over 6 months now. The sign used to inform people that this machine is bad doesn't even stay in place, which shows how this repair has been neglected. I have personally seen the machine being used when the sign falls off. There is nothing holding the sign up, the sticky tape doesn't hold. This causes a safety hazard and could injure someone. Yet, 6 months has passed without repairs! There is only one machine that works the inner thigh, so it's frustrating

Not worth it

The gym is underground and ventilation is not great, machines are often broken. This gym is also over priced and not worth the price. The gym group company is also that the best and customer service is not great at solving and compromising issues.

Avoid if you value transparency and clean facilities

I was a member of The Gym Group Alperton, on and off, for more than ten years, but recently decided to leave.

Over time, the overall experience declined significantly. A number of machines were regularly unavailable or out of order, the changing rooms were often in a poor and unpleasant condition, and access to the studio became increasingly frustrating due to unadvertised private sessions that were not reflected on the app timetable.

What disappointed me most was the lack of transparency and the dismissive way concerns were handled when I raised the issue politely with staff.

I appreciate that gyms can get busy and operational issues happen, but members should at least be able to rely on accurate information and be treated respectfully. Based on my experience, I would suggest looking at other gyms in the area before joining this one.

Crap classes

I was given a pass to try this gym at Wood Green by the mall and, having been to many gyms over the years, I was looking forward to seeing what it had to offer. Unfortunately, I found the range and quality of classes quite disappointing.

I decided to attend the spin class, and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had with an instructor. The teacher Stephane ngamvoulou came across as rude, arrogant, and spoke to people as though they were schoolchildren rather than paying clients.

What surprised me most is that this instructor also appears to run private PT sessions at clients homes and classes with some gym members.

Overall, this experience made my decision very easy — I won’t be joining this gym.

I’ve had a really positive experience

I’ve had a really positive experience at Camberwell gym. The facilities are clean, and well-maintained, with a wide range of equipment suitable for all gym-goers. There’s rarely a long wait for machines, which makes workouts more efficient and enjoyable.

The staff are friendly, approachable, and always willing to help with any questions or guidance. PT Nathan is knowledgeable. I appreciate the effort, encouragement and enthusiasm he brings when he instructs his classes.

Overall, I would highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a supportive and well-equipped space to work out.

I am a premium member of gym group as I…

I am a premium member of gym group as I work all over the uk , the app said free parking on site but I was unable to find it and had to pay £6 for 2 hours .
When I got into the gym I knocked on the staff office door and he seemed reluctant to answer as he was playing on his phone , when he did answer he explained there is no parking on site but I had to go to a certain car park nearby and then register on the machine for free parking .
The gym is the worst one I have set foot in broken lockers all over machines all too close and the air was stifling as if there was too little ventilation add that to the fact it was really busy and people were waiting on machines it was not a nice experience at all .

Been at this gym for a couple of years…

Been at this gym for a couple of years now.
Rather than fixing the broken equipment and hearing to what the local members suggest or would love to have at this gym they redecorate instead of bringing back the equipment that’s supposedly went away to get fixed.

Not happy please get this sorted and review will get overturned. Spoke to gym staff and nothing gets sorted. 😡

Joined the Gym a few months ago and was enjoying it so thought I’d make use of my corporate discount and signed up for a years membership - I followed the instructions to ensure my membership would be merged but to my surprise 3 weeks later I was charged for both. I immediately emailed (on the 1st of May) and no one got back to me until the 10th after chasing and chasing and it is now the 18th and I have only been given a partial refund. Customer service is an absolute joke! Not the best gym either but the closest to where I live, machines have seen better days.

I've been a regular customer of Gym…

I've been a regular customer of Gym Group. While there is nothing wrong with the gym, getting in touch and having app-login issues resolved with the gym has been a nightmare.
I asked for my subscription to be cancelled for the next month but they've cancelled my access for the current month too which I've already paid for. It's been 10 days and I still haven't been able to access the gym even though I've called, sent multiple emails. The only feedback I get is that I should log off and log back in but I've done that multiple times with no resolve.
It's amazing how quickly they want us to pay and get back into the gym but it's so hard to get any service for something you've paid for but decided to cancel in a future month.
Don't recommend.

Good gym…however…

The gym is very spacious and the cleanliness of the gym has improved significantly with antibacterial wipes now being available . However, I think it’s very important that the women’s toilets are cleaned regularly especially the sanitary bins . These bins are not being emptied regularly and are constantly overflowing which is extremely unhygienic for everyone. So please can this be sorted out .

Thank you.

Showers

Showers: pressure turned down to save water and temp is just warm enough on the highest setting. Been there for few years so aware of the reduction in water flow and temp. Others say same. Management not interested. To shower you have to get right up to wall to allow water to flow over you due to low pressure.
