What happened to Customer service!
I had this firm to refit the doors to my kitchen units and also to replace the work tops. When I first met the salesman he seemed really nice and very helpful. He produced leaflets with examples of the types of colours and materials we could use and we explained what it was we needed doing. The kitchen we were having refitted is in a caravan.
The room is roughly a square and had wall cupboards and counter tops, including a sink to two walls, the other two walls were free. We asked if they could mirror the present layout on these two walls with storage cupboards. I discussed with the salesman who visited us the options that were open to us and we agreed a corner base unit would be the best option to get the most storage space. A hefty deposit was taken, with full payment for the products paid on the day of delivery. We would have to pay the fitters cash on completion.
The only two criteria I had was that I had access to the space in the corner for storage and that the electric point on that side was raised above the work surfaces. This was agreed with both my husband and I and the salesman. The kitchen assessor made a visit to us to check the layout and details and again I mentioned the need for both a electrical point that side of the kitchen and access to the corner.
I have not problem with the quality of the cupboards or with the quality of the fitters, who my husband duly paid cash at the time of fitting, as requested, as I was away on business on that day. My problem is that the fitters when challenge by my husband with regard to the access to the corner void and electrical point told him it was not on their job sheet and we would need to sort it out with the supplier as they were only sub-contractors.
I was extremely disappointed when I returned home and found that two very important requirements were completely ignored and duly rang the salesman, he agreed with me that is was an oversight and would sort it out. No phone calls were received. I tried him again a couple of days later and he said he was surprised that no-one had contacted me and would look into the case. Still nothing so I telephone the head office number. I spoke to a lady who I found completely unhelpful and exceedingly rude. I was told that she was in a showroom and could not help. It was only with some pushing that she agreed to put me through to the warehouse. I spoke to a gentleman who was very pleasant and told me he would get someone to return my call. Nothing has happened since, I tried the Salesman one more time, who again was very pleasant and promised someone would be in touch with me.
This was all at the start of August and we are now nearly halfway through September and still I have had no contact from Thekitchengenie Company, fitters, or salesman.
So if you are thinking of using this company I would strongly recommend that you get written conformation of the the works that need to be carried out, especially as they subcontract, with you paying cash for the fitting, as you have no recourse to withhold payment until you are satisfied that all works have been carried out to you satisfaction.
I am very sad, as the product itself I am pleased with, but that doesn't help me with the loss of storage space (which was very important to me) and the complete inability to use and electrical gadgets on this side of the kitchen. Add to this the complete lack of interest the company has in customer satisfaction once they have your money!
I would advise people not to use this company as the products were not cheap & customers care does not exist once yo have paid for the job.
