Wished we had never heard of Smiley kitchens

This is a warning do not use this company I wish now that I had read other reviews before asking this company to do work for us. We had Smiley Kitchens to fit quartz work top to our large kitchen at a cost of just over four thousand pounds last year. After they they had finished the work we found a large flaw in the quartz worktop
Scratches to our black highly glossed kitchen cupboards and black American fridge freezer.
The fitters had used the same cloths on them as they had used to clean off the worktops of granite pieces and dust.
Plus our centre unit which we also had done was covered in two pieces of quartz with a ugly join in the middle instead of the expected one slab. As you can imagine this looks terrible.
So what they have done is ruin our kitchen.
The word cowboys come to mind.

A terrible,immoral company.

My parents ordered new cupboard doors and a new worktop in December and have had a terrible time since. Smiley Kitchens have been nothing but useless and don't seem to care. They sent the wrong sized doors.. 17 wrong cupboard handles (out of 20), only one kitchen fitter to do all the work and he needed my dad to be his assistant.. They promised to be done in a day and after 4 weeks... Still haven't completed it. My mum has reported them to trading standards as the final straw was them sending the wrong sized cupboards... Again. Useless company WHO YOU HAVE TO PAY UPFRONT.

Avoid this company

Not sure which trading name this company uses as our contract is with The Kitchen Genie but all correspondence was from Smiley Kitchens probably to confuse dissatisfied customers!
Whichever the case avoid them!!
Ordered worktop overlays which were sent with the fitters with three joins instead of one as agreed on my contract and was told the shape we agreed was to fragile to transport despite claims this product is almost as tough as diamond(what rubbish).
Told the fitters this was not acceptable and was called by a manager who told me they would stick to the agreed design and given a new fitting
date with their most experienced fitter James.
Several weeks later two fitters turned up two hours late neither of which was James. I was told they had to make one section of overlay on site despite the fact they had sent a surveyor prior to this to measure.
the fitters finally left at 7pm asking me to sign a satisfaction document despite the fact i could not inspect the work in poor light. The next day i inspected the work it was plastered in silicone to cover poor workmanship and edges were left sharp and chipped, and the kitchen was filthy dirty. Avoid this company go to your local DIY where there are products just as good at half the price which in hindsight i wish i had!

Absolute shambles from start to finish

Absolute shambles from start to finish. Now after 3 years two freezers which cost £700 pound both packed up wasting £100 pounds worth of food. Phoned port Talbot who I must say needs a course in customer care was very rude when we asked why they order their freezers from Castleford Yorkshire and when there is a problem they don t cover south wales. He then told us to go and purchase new ones one for the county court. Avoid at all costs. Wish i had never heard of kitchen genie very unprofessional.

Unprofessional Company

Ordered replacement doors September 2017 after so many mistakes finally completed December23rd.Firstly wrong colour doors delivered had to be returned waited 2 weeks for new delivery. The fitters fitted several doors then left my kitchen to work away did not give me a date of when they would return .Several doors were the wrong size so had to wait again .Fitters turned up 2 weeks later on a Saturday night at 7.45pm still the doors were the wrong size this happened 3 times .I contacted the head office complaining about the bad service and disruption I was receiving they did say they would compensate me some way but this did not happen.Very disappointed with this company they are not professional and do not look after their customers.

What happened to Customer service!

I had this firm to refit the doors to my kitchen units and also to replace the work tops. When I first met the salesman he seemed really nice and very helpful. He produced leaflets with examples of the types of colours and materials we could use and we explained what it was we needed doing. The kitchen we were having refitted is in a caravan.

The room is roughly a square and had wall cupboards and counter tops, including a sink to two walls, the other two walls were free. We asked if they could mirror the present layout on these two walls with storage cupboards. I discussed with the salesman who visited us the options that were open to us and we agreed a corner base unit would be the best option to get the most storage space. A hefty deposit was taken, with full payment for the products paid on the day of delivery. We would have to pay the fitters cash on completion.

The only two criteria I had was that I had access to the space in the corner for storage and that the electric point on that side was raised above the work surfaces. This was agreed with both my husband and I and the salesman. The kitchen assessor made a visit to us to check the layout and details and again I mentioned the need for both a electrical point that side of the kitchen and access to the corner.

I have not problem with the quality of the cupboards or with the quality of the fitters, who my husband duly paid cash at the time of fitting, as requested, as I was away on business on that day. My problem is that the fitters when challenge by my husband with regard to the access to the corner void and electrical point told him it was not on their job sheet and we would need to sort it out with the supplier as they were only sub-contractors.

I was extremely disappointed when I returned home and found that two very important requirements were completely ignored and duly rang the salesman, he agreed with me that is was an oversight and would sort it out. No phone calls were received. I tried him again a couple of days later and he said he was surprised that no-one had contacted me and would look into the case. Still nothing so I telephone the head office number. I spoke to a lady who I found completely unhelpful and exceedingly rude. I was told that she was in a showroom and could not help. It was only with some pushing that she agreed to put me through to the warehouse. I spoke to a gentleman who was very pleasant and told me he would get someone to return my call. Nothing has happened since, I tried the Salesman one more time, who again was very pleasant and promised someone would be in touch with me.

This was all at the start of August and we are now nearly halfway through September and still I have had no contact from Thekitchengenie Company, fitters, or salesman.

So if you are thinking of using this company I would strongly recommend that you get written conformation of the the works that need to be carried out, especially as they subcontract, with you paying cash for the fitting, as you have no recourse to withhold payment until you are satisfied that all works have been carried out to you satisfaction.

I am very sad, as the product itself I am pleased with, but that doesn't help me with the loss of storage space (which was very important to me) and the complete inability to use and electrical gadgets on this side of the kitchen. Add to this the complete lack of interest the company has in customer satisfaction once they have your money!

I would advise people not to use this company as the products were not cheap & customers care does not exist once yo have paid for the job.
