Dr Ball and his team do an amazing job of all aspects of this process and procedure. You feel they genuinely care about the outcome for their patients. This was a 2nd procedure and the difference was night and day in the end to end care level (1st procedure carried out at a highly rated Harley Street Practice).
If you're researching clinics I would not hesitate to consider Dr Ball and his team.

From start to finish my entire experience at the Maitland clinic was exceptional the whole team make sure you are so well looked after and reassured as it is a big deal, but I can honestly say that the day of the surgery was very relaxing and when it comes to the results they far exceeded my expectations and couldn’t be happier,Dr Ball is the best in the business!!!!
Dr Ball and his team are amazing. The team are friendly, highly professional and really care about what they do. The initial appointment took a detailed look at my current situation and what I was looking to achieve with honest feedback about what was realistic. I had a few appointments elsewhere where I either only got to speak to the actual surgeon for 5 minutes or things felt very rushed. Had the surgery yesterday - it was a long day but worth it and Dr Ball and his team were fantastic. Early days but no pain at present and the results look very promising - I'll report back in a few months once the results become apparent. In summary I can highly recommend the Maitland Clinic - if you're not based in the area it's easy enough to stay in a nearby hotel.
At the time of writing this, I’m 5 days out of surgery at The Maitland Clinic.
I’ll prefix this by saying I don’t write as many reviews as I should. Even when I receive excellent customer services or use a product I’m blown away by, I usually don’t take the time to give feedback. My experience at TMC compels me to let others who may be interested in a hair transplant know just how good they are.
To give a short backstory to my own hair loss journey, in 2017 I went to a (well respected) clinic in Turkey where I received 2400 grafts to re-establish my hairline. I did my research; the surgery was in my opinion a success.
In 2022, to give my hair the appearance of MORE density, I went to another well respected SMP practitioner in the UK. Again, I would qualify this as a success. If I were to shave my head to a grade 0, it would look for all the world like I had a good head of hair.
However, I wasn’t ready to “give up” on the rest of my hair. I had a decent coverage still and my hair has always been something I’ve been proud of. Hair gives us a profound sense of identity, readiness is all and I wasn’t quite ready to commit to a permanent shaved head.
Over the past three years, I decided to start researching where best to have another transplant. I focussed my attention on clinics in the UK. I hated the feeling of being on a “hair transplant conveyor belt” in Turkey AND the travel home wasn’t the best. As an anxious person, walking through a busy Ataturk Airport with a swollen red raw head was a nightmare.
After extensive research on forums, YouTube, social media and Trustpilot I decided TMC was the only one I would consider going to. I booked my consultation and first visited the clinic on 4th April. Straight in through the door, everyone was super friendly and professional. You’re not shoulder to shoulder with other follically challenged dudes, you don’t feel like you’re on that transplant conveyor belt.
I spoke with Dr Ball and we came up with a strategy for the most NATURAL look. This was important to me. It’s not a cookie cutter, one solution fits all type of thing - every individual has a unique hair loss pattern.
What also impressed me, was during the consultation I never felt like I was being railroaded into an expensive procedure. Everything was presented clearly to me and I was left to make my own decision afterwards.
It didn’t take me long on the drive home to decide I wanted to press ahead with the transplant. The day of the surgery could almost be described as a spa retreat. I’m not exaggerating when I say I almost fell asleep at times during the procedure, I was so relaxed. All the Maitland team working on my transplant were very friendly. I enjoyed chatting with them during the breaks, enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere AND enjoyed the fact I was the *sole focus* that day. “Patient No. 2” wasn’t tapping their watch waiting for my slot to finish, at TMC you’re the only patient for that entire day.
So far the recovery has been great, largely thanks to their very clear after care instructions and the comfort of having the team at the end of a WhatsApp message if you have any concerns. I have every confidence that in 12-18 months time when all the new hairs are through, I’ll be very happy with the results!
Losing your hair is rubbish. Some people take it on the chin and move on without any fuss. Some other people (like me) who struggle with body dysmorphia need help along the way to feel better in themselves. If you’re in two minds whether or not to undergo an FUE procedure, I don’t blame you. It’s a big decision and one you shouldn’t rush in to. If however you’ve decided to go ahead with a hair transplant and you’re looking for somewhere to go, I’d strongly urge you to visit The Maitland Clinic and have a consultation. It’s your best chance at getting a result you’ll be happy with.
My experience with Dr. Ball and The Maitland Clinic has been nothing short of outstanding—truly beyond my expectations.
I waited a full year after my procedure before writing this review so I could speak to the long-term results. I had around 2,000 grafts focused on my hairline, and the outcome has been incredible.
From the initial consultation to the procedure itself and all the follow-up care, the attention to detail has been flawless. Every step of the process felt meticulous and professional.
I didn’t experience any pain during or after the operation, and the results speak for themselves. My hair looks completely natural—regardless of how I style or cut it, no one can tell I’ve had anything done.
Yes, there’s a waiting list and the cost is on the higher end, but the results are truly life-changing and absolutely worth every penny.
Dr Ball and his amazing team of very experienced technicians repaired my first hair transplant - both removing the badly implanted, pluggy grafts from the hairline as well as restoring my overharvested donor using the same extracted grafts
On top of that, David Andersen (senior advisor, guiding all patients) and Dr Ball himself have had the kindness and patience to handle all my questions and soothe my anxiety, over several months
My advice to anyone considering this: hair transplants are not to be taken lightly, they are complex, and require a lot of experience from the surgeon and their team to look good
TMC is one one of the very best clinics I have found in Europe - and I have done a lot of research after my first bad HT.
Words can do little to express the gratitude I feel towards towards Dr Ball and his team. The level of skill, care and integrity they put in their work is outstanding
Don't let yourself get tricked by flashy marketing, discounts and fake reviews - read the real patient reviews on forums like the one below, and see the difficult cases they have handled
All the best,
Paul
Brilliant. I actually went here after a poor hair transplant preformed elsewhere and although Dr Ball and David Anderson could help me, they actually told me to go and speak to another clinic who may be able to also assist me. It is only the fact this other clinic offers body hair transplant that (because of my situation) I had to use, that I used them over The Maitland. I've learnt the hard way that ethical behaviour and hair transplants do not seem to go hand in hand. This place is one of the exceptions to the rule. If you're unsure of where to get a hair transplant, don't make my mistake and head for the cheap or easy option, go and speak to these guys!
4 years post op and I am incredibly happy with the results the hairline looks completely natural, falls very well and looks much thicker - completely life changing results in my opinion and I no longer feel like I need to hide in the shadows I have a new self-confidence which has been transformative in many ways.
Starting you hair restoration journey can be quite an anxious and nerving time or at least it was for me but Dr Ball, David and the team really are wonderful they make you feel very welcome and instantly feel at ease from the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave and I cannot thank them enough for the transformation they really do work miracles here.
I spent hours, months, years researching MPB remedies, cover ups, miracles, hair clinics etc when thankfully I stumbled across Dr Ball at The Maitland Clinic whom is highly decorated in the profession and unlike most clinics Dr Ball offers honest, knowledgeable and concise advice from his wealth of experience earning him the position as one of the best in the field - I wouldn’t let anyone else touch a hair on my head (except my barber) and I would highly recommend The Maitland Clinic.
The Maitland clinic is everything you should be looking for when considering hair restoration surgery. . Dr Ball and David Anderson have your very best interests at heart, because It's important to take a long term view when considering hair restoration surgery, and expert professional advise is absolutely crucial. What Dr Ball is not going to do is try and sell you a hair transplant, rather, he is going to try to provide you with the best possible course of action for you to take in your hairloss journey, be it surgery or not. I recently had some work done at the clinic, as I was a suitable candidate for sugery (1340 grafts fue), and everything was outstanding. Dr Ball is a modern day Picasso, and his hairline design was perfect for my head shape, and for my current level of hair loss. He is a perfectionist, and excellent communicator, and his staff are well acquainted and work together every day, having formed an essential bond, which again is very important when carrying out this type of work. You don't want some temp that's in for a couple of days and has never worked with the other technicians before in his or her life, what you want is flow and harmony between them, and an intricate understanding of each others ways and of the core values of the Maitland clinic. Lana was extremely helpful whenever I e-mailed or telephoned with questions before the procedure, and nothing was was too much trouble for her. The consultation with David Anderson is extremely useful and is worth paying for. You are getting the best advise from highly trained people, and both Dr Edward Ball and David Anderson have both had hair transplants in the past, which to me was somewhat reassuring to know. Experience is an added bonus at the Maitland clinic.
Everything was explained to me in detail, with clear, concise understanding and the ability for me to express any concerns or ask questions, at any point. Even the food provided was top notch , I couldn't believe my luck when I was given naked fruit bars on my snacks trolley. And one of the lady's even went out to fetch my lunch for me, this is a wonderful thing, and saved me from having to go and source it myself halfway through the op. There are regular breaks throughout the day, tv entertainment and lots of food. It almost feels more like a spa day, than a hair transplant. Everything provided to me, from the food, the pillow and products, to the bag it all came in, is all just lovely, good quality stuff.
The procedure itself was practically painless, apart from the local aesthetic injections, which were only moderately uncomfortable for a few seconds. Dr Ball examined it carefully at the end and gave it his seal of approval. In fact, he described it as a masterpiece, which is not something he would say lightly, given he could find faults with a hair transplant that would appear faultless to most people. I just don't know how it's possible to do something as brilliant as this, but they did. Dr Ball and his technicians stayed until early evening to get the job done, it was over when it was over, their dedication and discipline to get it done right was like a specialist military operation of some sort. This was their number one objective of the day, and it was getting done and done right, no matter what.
I could write much more, but doing your research for this type of thing is paramount, and while I'd never say to just take my word for it, if you knew how scrupulous I am in doing my research you'd probably feel at ease on taking my recommendation here. I spent two years of scrolling forum after forum in the hairloss community, and reading countless articles and independent reviews. I constantly checked the BAHRS, ISHRS and American hairloss association websites for every surgeon I researched, and time after time, I came back to Dr Ball. We are immensely fortunate to have him in the medical world, and to be beneficiaries of his skills and talents. Thank you Dr Ball, for turning your vision into a reality with the Maitland Clinic. Thank you Dr Ball and the whole team for a great experience.
Not sure I can say anymore than what’s already been said. What an incredible experience for what was a very daunting prospect. Everyone associated with the clinic that I interacted with were simply amazing, the day itself was extremely well ran with significant focus on making it as a comfortable as possible. I am one year on now and the results are beyond what I hoped for. I look forward to my second procedure.
I underwent a 2200 graft FUE procedure with The Maitland Clinic one week ago and my experience so far has been nothing short of excellent. Before I booked the procedure I had two consultations with the clinic, first via Zoom and then in person. At no stage did I ever feel under any pressure or experience any 'sales' talk. Just clear, realistic guidance about the results I could expect. The day of surgery was fantastic and the atmosphere felt both friendly and highly professional. Dr Ball and his staff are clearly passionate about achieving the best result possible. The aftercare so far has also been great. An aftercare pack was provided containing everything needed for the first few days and I've already been contacted by the clinic multiple times, checking in with me and asking how things are going. All things considered I'm extremely happy that I chose this clinic for my procedure and am looking forward to the months ahead.
I can't recommend The Maitland Clinic team highly enough for the care before, during and after surgery. I had looked at the results online and was really impressed at how natural they looked so booked a consultation with Dr Ball to understand my options. Dr Ball and the whole team are amazing. They obviously care about getting the best possible result but also they care about the client throughout the day of surgery and with regular check-ins afterwards. They provide full guidance before and after surgery and a post-surgery pack with everything you need. It is now 11 days after my transplant and I am really pleased with how things are progressing, I just need to be patient now!
I came to the maitland clinic as I was unhappy with the unnatural results of a previous hair procedure at another clinic. I’m so grateful to Dr Ball for fixing my hair and one year on I’m left with a much more natural and softer hairline. Dr Ball and his team were so kind throughout and the whole process was handled with care and discretion.
I did a little research to find a reliable & honest surgeon for a hair transplant. I'm so glad I found Dr Ball & his Maitland Clinic. He & his staff are everything you could wish for. Honest, caring, knowledgable, friendly, top quality work with brilliant results.
Every review I read was good- & true. I believe Dr Ball is passionate about his work & truly wants to give you the very best results achievable - & he delivers. I love my new head of hair. Don't bother looking elsewhere. I don't think you'll get better results anywhere.
My consultation at the Maitland Clinic was exceptional. I was given a really thorough examination by Dr Ball after David had enquired about my circumstance and answered any initial questions in both the video zoom and in-person meeting.
Dr Ball took his time with me and answered all my questions with great detail in a very personable manner. The experience left me feeling comfortable, reassured and confident in regards to future surgery.
Hands down the best and most thorough hair loss consultation I have had out of the handful of other top UK clinics visited. Dr Ball is clearly at the top of his game and has a detailed knowledge of the latest clinical research in his field and was great at personalising it to my case in an honest, understanding and transparent way. David complements the medical side with very considered and friendly guidance and made it clear my long term interests were at heart. They can expect to hear from me very soon.
I had an FUT procedure at the Maitland Clinic 6 months ago. The grafts were placed on my temples and the sides of my face with the intention of creating a more feminine hairline.
The day itself was relaxed and comfortable enough. I watched TV or listened to music as everyone else got busy. It was fascinating to observe the workflow at times also; very much a team effort. Everyone was lovely. There were snacks.
I've been very pleased with the results of my procedure almost since the stitches came out. Even when the hairs were very short, they still managed to correct my hairline at a casual glance. Now they are a few inches long and look like they've always been there. It's been a game-changer. I've been tying my hair back a lot since the operation which I never did before because it showed off my temples too much. I have options now! I've also had some good compliments.
My hairdresser has been a keen observer throughout. He tells me the doner scar is minimal (he said he only noticed because the hair around it was shorter) and is also very impressed with the results. Next time I see him, we're going to see about starting to blend the new hairs in a bit, now that they are getting longer.
I think it is fair to say that my quality of life has improved as a result of this experience. I am so very grateful to the Maitland Clinic for all they have done for me.
Dr Ball and his team offer a fantastic experience.
From the initial consultations through to the aftercare I found the experience faultless.
No pressure selling, this is about options available to you as an individual and I genuinely really liked everybody I met.
There wasn’t any pain during the procedure, and although I was given three days pain killers to take if needed, I didn’t need them.
I have seen results from other patients at other clinics and read many stories of their journeys, but I just feel Dr Ball and his team are a cut above what I have seen elsewhere.
I am only on day 13, but results are amazing and I have not had any issues going about my normal routine.
I am so pleased I made the decision to see Dr Ball and his team, it was a very positive experience during the day and the results after prove to me that this clinic is the best in the UK
I have to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU again for my surgery. It has had a very positive effect on my life. It has just brought me so much joy already. Your team is exceptional.
After getting very down about my developing hair loss through my early 40s, I had looked at hair transplants as an option. I was extremely wary of making a poor choice after looking at a few clinics until I visited the Maitland for a consultation. Every aspect reassured me that if I was going to go ahead with the procedure, then Dr Ball was the surgeon that I would have every confidence in. He was sympathetic and personable, gave a very thorough and well explained assessment of my situation, the possible options and realistic results. It was clear that his focus is on what is appropriate for each patient, and that any procedure is as natural as possible, and will remain so in the future.
I came to the decision to book a transplant at the Maitland, and as every other review says, Dr Ball and his team are top notch. I was really nervous about the day, but everyone there could not have made me more welcome and relaxed. They are all utterly professional, caring and attentive, and the whole experience was rather pleasant.
I'm now just over a year on from having an FUE of around 1800 grafts by Dr Ball, and can only say my life has changed! The results are unbelievably natural. The transplanted hairs follow exactly how the natural hairs grew, blending in perfectly with the rest of my hair. I truly never expected a result like this. I no longer spend hours worrying about my hair, my self confidence is back to where it was years ago, and instead of looking in the mirror and agonising over how many more hairs I've lost, I actually enjoy seeing my reflection again!
