I had an issue with my delivery being a day late

I had an issue with my delivery being whole day late and all my chilled item very warm, the packet ice bags were fully defrosted. This was the fault of DPD who delayed the parcel.
Emma was very helpful and refunded me all the chilled items. Excellent customer service

The confectionery items received were…

The confectionery items received were good i.e. the Vego chocolate, clarana chocolate buttons, although the jelous sweets were just a 40g bag costing 1.29 supermarket does larger bag at similar price. The kettle chips, sheese and red onion were 2.79 received burst all over the box. Ordered Simon howie sausages and VFC chicken they arrived warm, smelling and soggy boxes from thawing in transit. Larger supermarkets would never take an item about to go out of date from a refrigerator and throw in freezer then pap a new date on, it would be out of the question. How they are getting away with this is astonishing, its making the fabulous manufacturers products reputation go down hill. All in all I could buy majority of their products from the supermarket UN-FROZEN and CHEEPER. So where is the market here? Won't be using them again sadly

Really impressed with the service for…

Really impressed with the service for my vegan food order. When it came to payment it doesn’t give the option to select a delivery day. I emailed the team and Katherine was able to hold my delivery back until the day which I’m at home. This is my 2nd order and I’ll certainly be using vegan kind again. I also really like that products are sold which aren’t available in any of the major supermarkets. Keep doing what you’re doing x

For the the first time ever my last order arrived damaged in transit.
Customer services were extremely helpful and efficient. Kept me fully updated and refunded my my damaged items.
I will continue recommending to anyone they are my favourite on line shop!

A problem with use-by dates and some damaged goods

I'm updating this review- I was eventually offered a voucher for a replacement pizza, and I've continued to use The Vegan Kind. The below problem was largely my mistake, but re. Issues with sell-by dates: all the food I've ordered recently has had much longer sell-by dates, so I think they do take customer feedback on board. The reason I haven't gone for 5 stars is that items can arrive damaged, and while it's accidental and TVK always offer to replace, it's a bit of a hassle! Apologies for any misunderstanding on my part TVK. Good service- thank you!

A niche service offering a wide choice of foods for people following a plant-based diet. I have used The VeganKind website a couple of times, now. The products are great, and they have a fantastic range, but prices can be steep. Also, the first time I had a delivery charge of nearly £8! Some of the items arrived squashed on each occasion, but were still edible. My real issues with this company are the use-by dates. Some of the foods have to be eaten on the day they are delivered. This is not always practicable, nor is it made clear on the website at cursory glance (it's a complicated system!). New customers like me, who are in a rush and are simply going down a list and adding items to their cart with limited time for browsing, can easily misunderstand how deliveries work. On my last order, I bought a pizza. When it wdelivered, I was pushed for time so I put everything in the fridge and two days later, went to take the pizza out. I was disappointed to find that the use by date was two days earlier; the day the food had been delivered! A £6 pizza ended up in the bin, so I contacted the company. The response was disappointing. They explained that the pizzas are bought in frozen and thawed, so must be eaten on the day of delivery. They explained how the website works, indicated that there were the symbols on each listed item, and then told me I should have gone into the 'product description' to find out more information. Fair enough- I missed this information, but that's understandable when you're a relatively new user and doing a big-ish shop with limited time to spend on internet shopping. The other point is, the system isn't practical- I don't want to have to do extensive research to buy a pizza, and I can't always eat the food I've bought on the day it's delivered- especially as you're not told when it will be delivered until you've been through checkout! The stance of the company was that it was my fault for missing this information. I can't really argue with that- they haven't technically done anything wrong, and they don't owe me a refund, but it would have been fair and good customer relations to send out a new pizza or offer a money- off coupon for future shops or something, given that ordering a pizza from them is apparently so complicated! Not what I expected! I feel devalued as a customer, slightly cheated, and given the hassle and short 'use-by' dates on produce, I'm not sure of they're worth ordering from, (especially given their prices!) They have, however, filled a void in a niche market, so until competition comes along, they are the only option for many people who can't access broad ranges of vegan food. VeganKind are OK to use and have their advantages, but please read all the information on the website carefully! It's a bizarre system if you're used to deliveries from more mainstream shops.

Dreadful service

`My experience was similar to Kate's. I ordered £70 + worth of goods because a previous experience with TVK had been very good and I decided to go for the free delivery. Included was a pizza and their website declared that they would not take orders for these unless they could guarantee next day delivery, so I was certain that my goods would arriveon the next day - wrong! My box was put on the wrong vehicle by DPD and ended up spending a night in Cumbernauld instead of being sent down to York. When I rang TVK'scustomer service I was told they did not guarantee next day delivery and when I pointed out the issue with the pizza, I got a refund for that. The box arrived and when I opened it the goods were swimming in the condensed water and to make it worse, one of the ice packs had leaked its slimey filling. Considering the unpleasant response from their 'loving, friendly' customer services woman I decided to write the whole thing of as a bad experience and will never deal with them again.

We wish we could 100% guarantee that all orders will arrive on a next day service, but very occasionally there's an unforeseen one day delay - over 99% of our orders do arrive as scheduled! On the rare occasion that something goes wrong, we feed this back to DPD as we want to do our very best to avoid issues like this.

When we spoke over email, initially you let us know your chilled goods were safe and sound despite the delay, but we can see from your feedback here you're not happy with them, and we want to fix this for you. My colleague has replied to your most recent email, so please do get back to us when you can as we never want to leave a customer unhappy!

Delivery a Day Late - Great Customer Service though - issue resolved and refunded quickly

Have updated my review to 4 stars to reflect the really great customer service that they provided after the issues occurred. Their live chat is really quick to reply and they processed my refunds quickly. They have also been great at replying to this review and implementing changes within the company to avoid future issues which I think is great.

I paid for a delivery by 12pm so I could be in, it was delayed with no explanation and ended up being rescheduled for the next day. I didn't receive any notifications from DPD and in the end I waited until 12pm and contacted the customer service who then apologised and said it would be arranged for the next day and that it wouldn't affect the perishable items. They refunded me the full delivery cost at my request.

The next day the items arrived but the whole box was soaking from the condensation of the frozen items thawing out, likely due to the hot weather. The pizza was already expired and soaking wet, the quiche and cake I ordered were also soaked and the cake, although edible, had melted in the heat. It's a shame as the non food products were obviously okay, but it was a real shame to have throw a couple of the food items away.

Again they processed my refund quickly after sending photos via the chat but at the end of the day, its a waste of food and two mornings of my time. I feel they handled it really well and I would imaging this is a rare occurrence, but it's worth checking the expiry date of the products on their page before ordering in case there is any delay.

New ideas every month

Great magazine especially if new to veganism. Articles are not at all preachy or hard line. Subscriptions auto renew but email goes out first giving opportunity to cancel. Very responsive to emails and comments.

A regular customer we've enjoyed this service

I have now ordered a few times from The Vegan Kind and have not been let down. I have ordered the donuts too which were lovely and all in tact on delivery. The boxes they come in and the ice packs are great, the food has been in good condition when delivered and its been nice to get a variety of vegan products without having to trawl different supermarkets who never seem to have your favourites in regular supply.

We live in a semi rural location and love getting our vegan deliveries out here. I dont know any other supermarkets who can guarantee next day deliver our food so its great to know if we need something we can jump online and grab it.

Convenient, quick and I think value for money.

Very happy

My first big order & everything was great. All my chilled stuff was chilled despite it being a warm day. My youngest was visiting & we used the ice bags on our heads to cool down as they were still frozen. Got lots of new things to try & some favourites from a previous smaller order. I actually had an extra item in my order, emailed to let them know & was told to keep it & enjoy it

Bad Experience

My experience has been nothing short of awful. The goods I received were not fit for consumption once delivered; everything in the box was really, really warm, the cold packs were completely thawed and warmer than the food, and the Violife block of cheese was almost melting in its packaging. I have been in contact with their customer service and that experience has been nothing short of atrocious. I have had it suggested to me that I should have just refrigerated and consumed the food (despite it clearly being past the point of being safe to consume - I even provided photos of it all as evidence of my complaint). Despite the goods I received being completely unfit for consumption, my request for a refund has been refused on more than one occasion. I did not appreciate being told by someone that I should basically have compromised my own health and safety by consuming food stuffs that wasn't fit for consumption. The fact I was offered a gift card instead of a refund as a resolve is a little insulting. The first time I used The Vegan Kind I didn't have any issues at all and this is what prompted me to use them a second time, but this second time will be my last. I'm really disappointed in the complete lack of service and the unprofessional manner in which the issue has been dealt with. Can't say I'll use them again or recommend them unfortunately.

We'll always display your delivery date at the checkout so that you can make sure you'll be available to receive your parcel before completing your order. A request was made with DPD to delay the delivery by one day, and your parcel was delivered on the requested day. Although we'd expect your items to be perfectly safe to enjoy, and we couldn't see any signs of spoilage from the photos provided, we appreciate that you weren't happy with your order and we processed your full refund.

We're really sorry that you feel like you can't use us again based on this experience! If you change your mind, we'd love to welcome you back. We're sure you won't have this issue if you receive your goods on the intended day - please do double check your DPD delivery date at the checkout to avoid any disappointment! Very pleased with our first two shops

We just did our first shop and are very pleased !
Excellent selection of foods, many of which we can't get at any of the local big name supermarkets (and we have them all near to us). There are filters for gluten free and soya free, which are important to us.
Delivery was quick, well packed and on-time and we got a free cheese as well !
We had nearly free delivery as we spent over £65 (just had to pay £1 for the cold goods).
We also got 10% off our first order, which is really appreciated.
They even plant a tree for every order.
In all, very pleased and very impressed.
We will certainly use again !

Did another big shop this week, excellent fast service again. Free postage as over £65, just charged £1 for chilled goods, but we had £2 in loyalty points so that cancelled it out nicely. We also got a free bag of crisps and a chocolate bar this time, so still very pleased. They sell lots of things we just can't get locally at the big supermarkets.
