Excellent service from Damian at the Abingdon branch. He managed to secure a buyer incredibly quickly and was friendly and helpful throughout the whole process. He kept me informed at all times and was always happy to answer my queries. Things did not always entirely go to plan but Damian was constantly reassuring. I could not have asked for better service.

We were pleased we transferred to the Oxford Branch as we obtained a better offer on the house and the sale has now completed. George was very pleasant to deal with and went to a lot of trouble to relay queries and did his best to minimise delays caused by the legal processes. We appreciated the continuity in that we mostly dealt with George, who did all the viewings. Would use Thomas Merrifield again and recommend the Oxford office.

I had a really lovely experience with Chloe viewing a house, she was very knowledgeable and accommodating. She then went on holiday and I dealt with another Agent. Sarah Gronow was incredibly rude and disrespectful. She was not accommodating to my questions or needs and felt the need to copy in her Director, as couldn't face the concept of my comments being factually and legally correct. Estate Agents should have excellent customer service, as we are the customers, not always get the last word in (as her emails came across). The knowledge of the home and any previous listings should be top level, as of course, people will have questions around that if a house has been on the market for 3 years (with gaps). I am very fair in my comments and honest. I do not expect to be treated the way I felt with Sarah Gronow. I am very disappointed and saddened by this experience as Thomas Merrifield have a lot of houses we wished to view. This experience has now confirmed I will not view with them again, which is a shame, as Chloe is the best estate agent we have seen.

Wallingford Branch:

We couldn’t recommend Thomas Merrifield (Wallingford) enough. Luke and Tiffany were highly professional and exceptionally talented at all stages of our house sale process; our house was marketed and valued with care and as a result we accepted an offer soon after going on the market. We were able to reach a completion date within our desired timeframe due to their diligence with the solicitors and their rapport with all involved in the process. It was as stress free a process as it can ever be! We simply can’t thank them enough.

Say goodbye to that pesky security deposit money. Why would you, a tenant who has kept the property clean the entire time and cleaned it before leaving, deserve the full amount of your money back? These poor letting agencies and landlords are starving and don’t know when the next meal will come! They deserve all your money!!

The poor cleaners had to pull a few weeds out of the garden in my case! Really they should be owed millions for such a brave act! They also had to get a wet sponge and wipe some dust away that is constantly being generated by the musky old carpets! More money out of my deposit! This work was really needed I’m sure, even though it was already cleaned by me. I really should just give them all of my money (savings included) these poor bastards need all the money they can get.

What a silly billy I was to think that my security deposit was only for damages caused by me or me leaving the place in a terrible state! It’s actually their money in which they can spend however they want! Yippy!

In all seriousness, the agent I spoke to after I left my overpriced box offered to pay for half of the costs (which in total was about £400) because and I quote “I was such a good tenant” he probably took pity on me knowing full well the amount they were taking out of my deposit was tantamount to me bending over and Thomas Merrifield himself sodomising me repeatedly.

I can say with confidence that I would have gotten more back or had my full deposit returned if I was just dealing with the landlord and not some unaccountable, decentralised corporate entity such as Thomas Merrifield. I never spoke with the landlord once, I’m sure he’s nice though.

Worst estate agents I have ever I encountered, the estate agent was rude and arrogant.

When we tried to book the viewing the estate agent told us we could only have one day to view the property, we booked this date as it was the only availablity offered.

When we arrived at the property we was asked our name by the agent and then immediately told to take our shoes off and shut the door, at this point I felt so uncomfortable I nearly walked out. I then continued and walked further into the house and the estate agent said sorry about this I’m here all day and it’s just so busy with interest, me and my partner was like okay well we are here to see it now . We was then told by the estate agent we had to put a offer in by the next day or we wouldn’t get the property as there was so much interest (shock the house is still on the market). I also felt the estate agent was homophobic by the way she thought my partner was buying the house himself.

I continued to go upstairs and the estate agent continued to moan about how she was busy and how much she had of viewings (even though this was the only day they would let anyone in), the estate agent continued to tell us about how many offers was put on the property. I feel the estate agent was unprofessional and when we told them how we felt about the experience the company brushed it off.

Avoid at all costs they are not there to help you or want your company. They are time wasters

Rude and condescending.

Poor experiences when attempting to view a property. I drove over 2 hours to view a property represented by them; however, cancelled after poor phone interactions as I would not feel comfortable giving Thomas Merrifield any sales commissions.

Would recommend to think about how poor first (and second) impressions will limit your ability to give your clients good pricing power and negotiation.

The whole team offered an excellent service. We got regular updates about viewing figures on line, and regular feedback and advice. We had the sense that they valued our business and actively wanted to sell our house.

I have just purchased a property in Bicester,
I found the property on Thomas Merrifield site, arranged a viewing, was impressed and amazed to get viewing the following afternoon. As a visually impaired person I was again impressed at the way I was treated by staff who did everything they could to assist.
I made an offer which was accepted and once again team Merrifield were on hand to walk me through the process, Glyn was a tower of strength he understood my sight made it hard for me to see forms and he gladly accepted the responsibility of form filling. Reading out and explaining every thing as he went.
Any questions I had were answered and although I have heard it many times that moving home is "stressful" I can honestly say that thank's to Glyn I did not experience stress. The sale was completed 28/10 and I would like to say that I have no hesitation in recommending Thomas Merrifield as an estate agency "with a heart"
