The Yorkshire Hotel Harrogate dissapointing, freezing cold 2 nights in a damp room, no character or warmth

The Yorkshire Hotel Harrogate 17th - 19 Jan 2025 .travelled with my husband, double delux. The hotel room was freezing , very cold, no radiator , just a very small electric heater.No fridge/no safe/no minibar in room.Coffee in room was poor quality/ Nesscaffee , appoling choice.Windows were all steamed up because of the cold inside and outside , everything humid in bathroom, including towels, no face cloths.You could hear every step from next door and above, very poor flooring and soundproofing.Floor and carpet uneven , risk of tripping over.We had the “DO NOT DISTURB “ SIGN ON THE DOOR, cleaners still walked in without notice,hesitant to walk out when asked.Only one key/card provided.Left some small rubbish on the bedside table ( on purpurse) was still there day after , after the room apparently was cleaned.Black long hairs under the sheets, uneven, lumpy quilt,poor quality,bed and bed making standard ,pillows , discussing covers and quality.bedding, mattress cover very poor.Breakfast was a rubbery affair, poor quality, no sparkling water, , eggs rubbery and small, sausages dry,mosh rooms oily, poor choice of fruit.One filter coffee machine , with a jug of lukewarm warm coffee.Poor poor poor, Staff looking lost and not wanting to be there, not with guests anyway .The remote was also broken , maintenance had to attend to repair the item , an overal sad , disappointing experience.Went for Lunch at The Pikled sprout in hotel , barman took the manu away and handed over a piece of A4 paper , apparently with a reduced menu, with no character or substance , apparently , “THIS IS THE NEW ONE” - he told us , and we left .Dissapointing .Also , hotels reply on Expedia was : “ SORRY WE ARE NOT THE HOTEL FOR YOU “.Posted this review because clients deserve better . Please, please be aware when spending nearly £ 300 for a couple of nights at The Yorkshire in Harrogate .

Used to be reliable but more mediocre pubs /restaurants/businesses seem to have higher average reviews now . The excellence award seems to still run true , but for how much longer ?

reviews arent moderated

reviews arent moderated, half of them about any given buisness tend to be stupid things like 'we got fined for staying well over the clearly advertised reasonable time limit! how dare they!' not to mention a lot of biased reviews by competing buisnesses, that they refuse to remove. you cant trip advisor for anything because how little quality assurance they put in.

Eat here at your peril Prince Regent pub,Cambridge

Eat here at your peril! All the food was frozen, it was all grossly undercooked. We ordered Turkey Dinner, pigs in blanket sausage was as pale as it was when it came out of the packet. Vegetables were dreadful and roast potatoes hadn't been cooked properly. Surly staff who couldn't care less, all students I would think, which is fine, but they were downright rude. I would never go here ever again.

An honest review deleted …

An honest review of an atrocious hotel has been deleted by trip advisor as they said it was out of date the establishment was under new ownship the current owners have owned it for three years.. the stay in question was 30th November 2024!

Angry. Reviews refused. No explanation.

I have recently had a couple of very factual, polite, and truthful reviews refused by Tripadvisor. I have appealed. But my appeal has never been successful. However I have never been told exactly where my polite and truthful review fails TRIPADVISORS rules.
If TRIPADVISOR wants to sanction reviews which are negative, without actual justification, then I believe this review site becomes worthless and is not to be trusted. I am angry.

Would not go near Laguna park 1in…

Would not go near Laguna park 1in adeje.first dry blood on sheets when we arrived no water pressure drains stank had to buy bleach for smell in drains towels were grey with holes in them.shower poured more water on floor than in shower as the water poured out of all the so called seems that didn't meet.1 drawer in room had to live out of suit cases. Food was terrible except breakfast.needs big up grade .everybody complained but nothing got done .

Don’t ever book a flight with Trip.com

Don’t ever book a flight with Trip.com. Booked flight tickets from Manchester to Bangkok 2nd Jan this was back in March. Only noticed a month ago one of the flight names were spelt wrong Cheryle should have been Cheryl. It has taken 1 month phone calls emails nearly every other day, stressed isn’t the word. Never resolved I lost £250 on the flight I’d booked also had to pay for another ticket which was £400 more than the original flight. £650 out of pocket and the stress was unbelievable, one letter cost me all that money. Communication skills were terrible could not understand them on phone, we Will get this sorted they said, didn’t, took over a month. Don’t book with them.

TRIP ADVISOR DOES NOT HELP SMALL BUSINESS!!

Trip Advisor does not reflect businesses especially not in hospitality and even more so when they decided to take you back to the bottom of the review without even PROVING their allegations. Everyone creates fake reviews clearly on Trip Advisor to boost their visibility and even some business have now AI to do so!! BUT when a genuine business do well and has an influx of good review (and Iam only talking 6 reviews more in 1 month) compare to other who are always number 1 with a minimum of 15 to 20 revies each month. Trip Advisor decide to take action against the GOOD business rather than the FAKE ones. Disgusting way to act and hopefully can find an entity that will take this further!!

Mauritius Faulous all round.

Just returned from Mauritius, stayed in LUX BELLE MARE, I couldn't rate it highly enough. Fabulous setting, lush gardens, excellent catering and friendly helpful polite staff. Extras for special occasions, and thoughtful extras elsewhere. Child friendly. Wonderful warm pool. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

TUI Holidays and hotels have false reveiws and the negative ones are hidden

I've noticed that the TUI hotels/holidays on tripadvisor do not show the negative reviews. The reviews that have 5 star ratings do in my opinion not seem to be genuine. I recently had a terrible experience with a TUI holiday but my rev eiw was not shown plus others who had left negative reveiws at the same time where also not showing. This is very unfortunate as it proves you can no longer trust the tripadvisor when deciding on a holiday.

Ideal budget hotel

Stayed at Travelodge in Droitwich spa, very friendly staff , polite and helpful. Room is simple ,but clean, and warm , it's basic but has all your basic needs, tea and coffee facilities, towels , extra pillows . A TV in room . Ideal for a cheap stay over. Ideal budget hotel

Dudley zoo experience

Went to Dudley zoo today and had a Oran u tang experience at 10.30 was amazing , was fabulous to be able to get up close give them a drink and feed them. The lady doing it was very good and chatted with us throughout, highly recommend doing this . All the other animals were out so that was good.all the staff were friendly and spoke .The views up high were good had coffee in the cafe which was clean and tidy staff were very happy in their work loved it here

Athena Beach Hotel Pafos Cyprus

Just got back from a holiday at the Athena and what a holiday.I honestly tried to find something your team might have forgotten.I mean a fresh honeycomb at breakfast whoa.The staff we met were second to none in their proficiency,politeness and cheerfulness.We were made so comfortable we didn`t want the holiday to end.It`s the first time I`ve considered going back to the same place.

WIZZ Air the airline - Scam at the airport

WIZZ Air the airline did con us at the check in desk at Rome airport. We had paid for Auto Check in on advance and they were meant to send us an email 50 hours before the flight with check in, seat nos and boarding cards which they failed to do. Chasing them for these email details proved fruitless. At Rome airport they charged us 48 Pounds per head for not checking in on line when booking confirmation clearly states Auto. Check in included for both passengers on both flights. Besides it says mobile check in not available on that date. Couldn't use our mobiles at the airport either to prove we had Auto Check in.

Wouldn’t believe anything written on TripAdvisor. They are absolutely clueless when receiving reviews. Hides behind a disclaimer which fails small businesses whilst large corps pay for 5 star reviews on a huge scale. Repeatedly failing to take down blatant lies, ruining business and damaging reputations. Deleted my account and I would remove my business but that’s something else you can’t do with these muppets

Worst massage I have ever had

I went for a massage at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Harrogate. The girl who did my massage put freezing cold hands straight on my back. When I yelped and said your hands are REALLY cold she replied 'they will get warmer' which they barely did. I wrote an email to the spa manager saying I would expect better training of staff. She replied saying this masseur has Raynaud's. I would expect her therefore to be doubly careful to warm her hands before performing a massage. This is not acceptable behaviour.
