System for setting up McAfee True Key -FAR TOO COMPLICATED. Tried Chat help, but VERY bad line and I could not understand. Generally in all contact FAR TOO COMPLICATED.

Truly awful piece of software. Nothing works - auto login does not work, you can't browse to add new sites and the only way of adding them is manually. It promises features which aren't available e.g.... See more
I am enjoying using Truekey to manage all my passwords and (I hope) keep me safe online. The facial recognition sign-in is really good, and saves me endlessly typing in passwords. My one worry is so... See more
Fails to interact with app that have security, therefore useless on device. Face matching never worked and password recovery required face match which means that my account is lost. Annoying popups... See more

THE WORST app I've ever downloaded.
THE WORST app I've ever downloaded.
Totally unusable.
BAD directions that make NO sense and don't work.
POS.
Cancelling subscriptions
I've used the service for a few years now; first the free version and then I upgraded to the premium one ($20 yearly). In many regards it's worse than most other password managers. I've just tried to cancel my subscription, but it's basically impossible to do so. The McAfee site doesn't show my TrueKey subscription at all and if I uncheck the 'Auto renewal' thing in my TrueKey app it reenables itself as soon as I leave the site. The credit card I used to sign up should be expired by now, so I'm not too worried about it now, but the service is very bad. I would avoid this service at all costs.
Can never get signed on...a big waste! Cannot get any assistance!!

The sites do not accept the passwords from True Key most of the time. I have to constantly be changing them. I do not get the prompt when I am creating a new password on a new site half of the time. I have to enter it manually. It is so frustratingj.
Can I do a zero star review
Can I do a zero star review. Not being able to log in with your master password on multiple devices points to an issue on TrueKey's end. In the past 2 days I've spent almost 4 hours with tech support.
Same issues, Same frustrations.
I am still using TrueKey but have similar experiences to those already reported below except I have not worked with customer support as I resolved my own issues before ever reaching them. 1st: the software frequently stops logging itself in with the default browser at startup forcing a manually log in.
2nd: I had the issue of the application not recognizing the master password & not allowing an update of it because I wasn't on a recognized device. To this day my Master Password has not changed; so what caused the initial password login problem?
I now regularly export all of the website & password info & save it to my hard drive because I don't want to get locked out again. What a security failure!! As a sole business owner with one laptop & after this experience I would not dare put truekey on another device (my phone for example) to end up locked out of it. So where is this "other recognized device," supposed to be??
The software won't let me log in.
The software won't let me log in.
I contacted customer service where the agent, Aram Kevorkyan first tried to redirect me to tech. ( After working in customer service I know this is a way to get rid of long issues and reduce time on the call, keeping his stats good for the business. However, it is really frustrating for customers) I applied again to the customer service and got the very same, Aram Kevorkyan. I asked him not to redirect me!!!
I explained the issue...again. He rudely suggested i answer his first question.
The first question was would I like to communicate in English or German. I continued to write in german. He refused to answer my question until I answered the first question I WAS REPLYING TO HIM IN GERMAN!!!
This complete process took a total of 24 minutes. That is when he informed me that the issue I was facing was a common one and they were working on it...
WHY DID HE NOT START WITH THAT!!!!
I managed a customer service team and this was either a new guy with no idea or, someone wanting to make my life difficult.
I am unable to log into all my business accounts. The day is lost and my clients are not happy. The last thing you need is a cocky ass in customer service.
I am posting it here but, I will also be finding his manager.
When it works it is fine. If you get stuck you will be even more frustrated with their customer service that is for sure.

Very disappointed as I've been using this software for over five years.
I was forced to reset windows so had to reinstall all my software including True key. But when entering my username and master password it kept saying that the info was wrong. So I clicked on the forgotten password only to be shown with a message saying you can only rest on a trusted device.
I phoned Mcafe three times but was told their wasn't anything they could do about it. And suggested that the whole account including five years of password be deleted.
Not fit for purpose in my opinion.
Luckily I exported all my logins and password.

Put together by a bunch of amateurs who couldn't care less if it works or not. I have been trying without success to reset my master password for weeks now and I swear if I get the message "oops something went wrong" one more time I'll swing for them!!!
Simply unreliable.
Waste of my time
Very disappointed, took four contacts with customer services to try and sort access to my account. For some reason, my phone logged me out so when I tried to log back in, wanted me to verify with an old email that no longer exists, no other way to verify and apparently, regardless of their help pages, customer service can't help. Complete waste of my time so I don't recommend for that reason because I couldn't access any of the information again and I'm certainly not restarting the whole process. Don't waste your time, don't download, clearly not reliable.
This single simple solution cost me…
This single simple solution cost me days of productivity! Once added, it does three things:
(1) It slows your laptop to a crawl.
(2) It causes errors in sign-on for Outlook and other products that lock you out of your accounts.
(3) It sticks like glue ... you cannot get fully away from this thing, even when you uninstall it.
McAfee was my go to virus protection and I mistakenly thought they would offer a fully tested product. Based on the True Key experience, I canceled McAfee and installed Norton. No confidence in McAfee, given the poor experience.
I had not used Truekey in a while
I had not used Truekey in a while. I also purchased a new laptop. Well you would think it would be simple to request a password change & then access my account. But no, you can only request a password change from a trusted device, which is my old laptop that I no longer have access to. What a load of nonsense.
McAfee support not able or willing to provide a solution.
Avoid this tool at all costs!
total crap
total crap i am losing hours just to get in.
I will throw this true key of my pc now
Rubbish it isnt smooth you have to log…
Rubbish it isnt smooth you have to log in regular. You may as well take a note pad and pen. Logging is just as bad utter crap.
Dreadful program
Dreadful program. It came bundled with my BT internet so when I upgraded my service I figured I`d give it a try. I wish to god I hadn`t bothered.
To begin with, It deleted all my cookies in Firefox when "migrating" my log-ins. Not a single login through truekey worked, every single one failed and bugged out. I tried deleting the truekey profile and entering the passwords manually, - that didn`t work either... I uninstalled it and it left all sorts of remnant files in my registry and PC which I had to find and remove, I also had to remove its add-on from my browsers, manually. Now I have to re-enter all my log-ins for about 150 sites manually, to get back to where I was before installing this junk.
Never again, its actually more of a hinderance than help, and doesn`t provide you with ANY extra security. TBH, If anything, it makes it easier for someone to log into your sites from an unguarded PC. (lol, but only when working, & thats not often).
Avoid at all costs.
Truly awful software
Truly awful software. It came with McAfee so I started using it. With regular frequency, it would be flaky and fail to add my username or return the wrong password. I then had to retrieve my username and password from elsewhere. Now it doesn't work at all. Completely a waste of time and is not to be trusted.

It took ages to get it to work with my browser and eventually it did work then as soon as I did an update to my browser it stopped working again. Its says on the phone version you can use your face to log in but again I can't seem to get that to work only on my iPhone. My new Android phone will only let me log in via log in details instead of using face or fingerprint so very annoying. I've gone over it time and time again. I just give up with it.
DOES NOT WORK!
