No Appreciation for Loyal Customers…

I have been a loyal customer of this bank for almost 20 years, on both the personal and business side, and yet they refuse to remove an overdraft fee as a one time courtesy. It was a $17 overdraft on a small business account and the fee incurred was $36. This was a first time infraction and yet they will not remove it as a courtesy. I will be taking all of my banking business elsewhere. This includes a personal account with a high balance as well as my mortgage. Instances like this are why Truist has very low customer satisfaction ratings overall. No personal touch whatsoever, nor any appreciation for a loyal customer.

It has taken trust 3 years to fix my online account. They are not honest about taxes and how the distribute your escrow account. Again today spent 6 hours on the phone with them giving me false information including telling me they have no idea how much my taxes is so they just increase my payment on what they guess. I contacted the county tax assessor who stated they know exactly how much the taxes are. They also refuse to pay it in one lump sum stating the county makes them pay it in two payments. Again after my call directly to the county tax assessor’s office I confirmed this information was fabricated by truist. I called back to ask truist again to pay the bill I provided the money for and after 30 minutes they hung up on me. Absolutely unprofessional company stealing my money.

POOR customer services

POOR customer services. On February 27,2026 I visited the Westover Hills branch after work I arrived at 4:20pm and as I entered the bank lobby I noticed a line. There was only 1 Teller working the front line and she was also working the drive thru window. People were verbalizing the concerns because the Bank manager was helping someone at her desk. There was another lady sitting playing with the computer and I ask could she out the Teller and the Bank manager said NO because was in training. The teller confused this was not her normal Bank branch and every 30 minutes she had t ask the Manager for help. One customer suggested to the Manager maybe she could reschedule her customer help the Teller since she was working two different areas, The Manager had a Smart response and told the customer if you that tired have a seat in a chair until your turn. She will not reschedule her customer because all customers are important. At that point the line was outside the door and people began to leave. The Manager was Rude and not willing to help the Teller who was only helping out for that day. I didn't receive window services until after 5:00pm. One customer even asked if he could come back on Saturday to get help with a Debit Card problem The Rude Manager told him, you can come back tomorrow but we won't be open.

Nothing True About Truist

WORST BANK EVER
Charged maintenance fees that ultimately closed my account (2/10/26)
but was supposed to be refunded by them months before (12/25). my tax refund was set to deposit days after.....Also when I found out my original account was closed I Opened another one the same day while I was on the phone with Truist and they closed it
"due to fraud" days later.

Their failure to resolve a minor fee error resulted in an erroneous account closure, which has now caused the rejection of my tax refund. The bank has failed to provide a timely resolution. This is not just poor service; it is financial negligence.

If you value your financial security and your sanity, stay far away from Truist. FAR AWAY

Oh yeah They later admitted fault with a $25 gift card that says “valued client” after all of this which was the cost of the original overdraft amount …the audacity

Misleading and terrible support + delayed refunds

Awful phone support. Got the same agent twice who lied to me about their policies on the first call, then months later told me “what? we never said we could stop x company from billing you monthly after you cancelled, we have to change your whole card number for that.” FYI card number change didn’t stop it either, I have been having to go through their fraudulent charge process every few months to get a refund for this stupid service I’ve already unsubscribed from (dashpass) including screenshots of a new doordash agent every few months confirming I have no active subscription, and truist will only refund me for activity within something like 60-90 days hence me having to repeat the process so frequently or lose money. Additionally, god forbid you receive a refund from a vendor (ticketmaster, klarna, airbnb to name a few) because truist will hold those pending for weeks before letting you spend the money returned to you. Klarna is the worst because truist really does not like multiple identical payments refunded at once and will parcel them out to you even slower than Klarna approves them.

Incompetent

My card was hacked. Called to replace it. They shirked the responsibility and told me to go to a branch. They said they couldn't do anything and to call the number I just called. Anyway, 6wks later I still have no card, so I fixed it by closing the account. So long Truist.

Truist is the worst bank you could ever…

Truist is the worst bank you could ever use! Please put your money somewhere else! I have a credit rating of 830 and they gave me a business loan with 18% interest. And they lied when I opened the account and said it would stay at 9%. When I questioned them, they said, that the 9% was for a personal loan not a business loan. They lied to get the higher interest! Please do not trust this bank! I am in the process of moving my funding to AXOS bank. It may not be personal, but I would rather it be that then a complete lie! BEWARE of this BANK!

Truist bank is the worst bank in the face of the planet. There are nothing but grifter and thieves and scam artist. Are you open an account five days ago they closed my account the same day because they thought I deposited a fraudulent check that is actually from State Farm insurance drawn on their bank so of course they froze my funds every time you call everybody gives you a different answer. I’m so sick of this. I just want my money back. Does anyone have any idea ideas what to do?

The Fraud Dept at Truist Bank has…

The Fraud Dept at Truist Bank has investigated a claim by me where my wife’s debit card was hacked/scanned and funds were transferred overseas. Truist gives Debit cards instead of ATM cards to use at their ATM machines. My wife and I have never believed in the safety of Debit cards and do not use the one they gave us, other than to withdraw money from the ATM. Recently my wife’s card (in her wallet) was scanned and the thieves emptied our bank account with fraudulent transactions to some overseas money laundering organization called LemFi out of Austin TX. In mid-October, there were 4 transactions for $1999 each, spaced just minutes apart.

I caught the transactions prior to them executing (the transactions had a 3 business day pending period) and I called Truist Fraud hotline (4 times over 5 days with over an hour for each call) to cancel the transactions. They said they could not cancel and that they can only address the issue after the money left my account. They, “in good faith”, credited my account the $7,996, as the account is FDIC insured. Well the money was taken and the Fraud Dept initiated their investigation. They called LemFi and were told the transactions were legitimate and they trusted them at their word. Now Truist wants to take the money back out of my account.

I filed a police report on the matter with the Saint John’s County Sheriff’s Office
I also filed complaints with the FDIC and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Truist ruled to the CFPB that they re-investigated the case and still find me and my wife at fault.
I filed 3 times and received the same ruling from Truist each time.
I also went to my local branch and called the fraud line with bank officers and still got no results.

I have gone to the bank and emptied my accounts for cash and moved to a new bank.
Truist is threatening to report me to the credit bureaus.
I have also contacted Truist Fraud and asked for copies of the recorded calls from each time that I called them. They have not responded.

Bi Weekly payment plan is a rip off

I signed up for Truist Bi-Weekly mortgage payment plan to save money on my interest each month. WRONG!
Truist holds the first payment and does not apply to my loan until the next payment arrives. WTF! So Truist holds your money and keeps the interest themselves each month! There is no added financial benefit to me for splitting my payment each month! This is BS!

Not an account holder, but wish to share negative treatment

I am not an account holder, I responded to ads regarding refinancing auto loans. To apply, one has to make appointment at local branch. I did that and was greeted by a staffer that entertained my inquiry while demonstrating no real interest ion doing so. My FICO score is "excellent" but was treated as an "intruder" taking up time, yet I was the only customer in the bank.. no matter I had an appointment... conclusion: Truist staff don't respect customers.. I politely left without completing process even though their underwriter confirmed an approval there as I completed documentation etc. Truist is not a customer friendly operation... I left feeling disrespected even though I am a viable, credible, worthy prospective customer.

This bank is terrible

This bank is terrible. Placing unnecessary holds on checks, one was a payroll check for 20 days which is illegal, there's no up to 2 days early with direct deposit. Not to mention the hoops I had to jump thru just to open the account now I wish I wouldn't have bothered. Hate it

They ask for all of your data

They ask for all of your data, including SSN, before saying you aren’t eligible. I have an amazing credit score. They do not tell you why they’d deny you after accepting personal data. They promise $400 sign on bonuses. A total scam, please do NOT give them ANY of your data.

Terrible phone automated system

Terrible phone automated system, this purchase of Freedom Mortgage loans is the worst thing that’s happened to me since owning my home. Terrible customer service, no one knows what’s going on. Transferred multiple times for an account locked issue, just to find out the department that can help me was closed. People have lives and things to do. Get your stuff together. Can’t wait to move to another lender.
