My contact with u.k.abroad was very unprofessional. Firstly you have a cool down of 12 hours for a 100% refund, but you are contacted always after this time period. Secondly you are not informed in advance what documents you need to send. Thirdly you have to send page for page in high resolution scan of every page of every other foreign passport you have. Fourthly if you question this requirement, they tell you - oh if you have a passport from USA you don't need to send any scans. The whole process was very amateurish. In the end I decided to cancel the application process. The contact was friendly but gun-ho..it felt like the rules were being made on the fly.

I have been putting off starting the whole process of obtaining my passport due to my previous one was stolen from my home. The thought of having to start from scratch was daunting. Not with the helpful staff at UK Abroad.
I had the pleasure of dealing with Natasha who went above and beyond to make the whole process run so smoothly. I honetly cried when she sent the email saying it was approved and on it's way to me (I still can't believe it was that easy and quick).
From my initial email from Natasha to the delivery at my home, the whole process took 3 weeks!!! That's from the UK to Australia!
If you are thinking about it, think no more. Contact these guys and they will make this experience stress free.

I used this site to renew my passport from overseas and it would include a name change and had to start from new applicant as well out of date. It was a little expensive but this outweighed the knowledge and security that I had all relevant documents. I was contacted via email and process was very easy as full explanation and checks were done before application submission. This did not take long to complete and once submitted it was only three weeks or less until my passport arrived. Fees included courier pickup from my home and delivery by same to my home. I was kept informed every step of the way and process was easier and no stress. You are assigned a contact person who keeps in touch via email and you can request phone contact but it was so simple I didn’t need it. I personally was glad I used this service. Brannan was my contact person. I happy to recommend

I was a little anxious doing this all on line but I was quickly reassured by the quick informative emails full of clear instructions from Natasha.
I had some difficulty getting the photo size correct but talk about patience and reassuring calmness and advice on how to sort things out.Natasha is a brilliant communicator. I felt we were friends by the end of the whole process.
The pick-up of the old passport was safely organised and then the quick turnaround meant I had to have the delivery of the new passport held by the courier. This was a simple process also. I received my documents on the re-arranged day both new and old passports securely in seperate sachets. I was very impressed.
A positive experience I would recomment UKPassports 100%. Again a thank you to Natasha who supported the process throughout I felt very at ease knowing I had the support.

Passport full so decided to renew it while in Kuala Lumpur and felt the support of an agency would speed up and derisk the process. I did get new and old passports back in just over three weeks - so thankfully NOT a scam - but still can't help feeling mugged.
Around double the cost of DIY and little or no value added to the process which was in fact extended I estimate by one week through involving UKPA (non working week ends, time differences, email turnaround etc.). Also for me an anxious 5 day wait wondering if I had been scammed from paying my money USD 335 for a jumbo passport to getting any concrete proof that application had been submitted i.e. PEX reference and email used through .GOV portal.
Applying directly through the GOV portal is very clear, straightforward and efficient and you will be directly updated on the process by both.GOV and DHL throughout if you DIY. Even better and quicker to go to a DHL service point yourself and pay them directly to courier your documents to the passport office rather than wait around all day for then to come to you if organised by UKPA. All UKPA is doing is checking your passport details and uploading the information & digital photo you provide from a template that exactly mirrors the GOV portal and paying the outbound DHL cost. I estimate less than half a days work if being generous for which they get USD 335 less .GOV passport cost GBP 110.50 less DHL outbound USD 50 ....nice work if you can get it!
They are not influencing or speeding up the process in any way.... in fact they are slowing it down by adding extra steps. They don't explicitly claim a government relationship, in fact they state they are not associated in the fine print...but it is inferred through their branding.
Unless you are extremely underconfident then DIY - or ask a friend to help and take them out for dinner afterwards with the money you will save.
Nothing illegal with what UKPA is doing....its just expensive and inefficient. They seem to be preying on a mystique that it's difficult and risky to DIY...its NOT!
I have written it all down to experience under Buyer Beware.

I applied for a UK passport thinking this was a genuine UK gov site, everything looked identical to the official gov site, after realising it wasn't I cancelled my application on the Monday after the weekend but was charged nearly 100 Euros "service fees " for doing nothing.
Stay away... use the official UK gov site!

For all intents and purposes, I believe this company is a fraud as I paid for 2 UK passport applications 12 days ago and despite trying to contact them over when they'll pick up my old passport and pictures, they haven't responded. I've had one automatically generated confirmation of my email sent to them but no email over the next steps despite claiming to send it inside a few days. There is no phone number to contact anyone one there and their website appears to be in South Africa. Either they have problems providing a proper service or its a scam as their web site is very professionally done and checking on-line there's no specific claim its a cam but either way, they are not delivering what I paid for. I've disputed the charge with my credit card company and hopefully it can be resolved in my favor.

As overseas British Citizens living in New Zealand and time to renew our British Passports not a clue how to go about it but fortunately when we applied to renew the passports via UK Passports our consultant was Robyn and we really appreciated her professionalism in assisting us ( being Seniors) things have changed since our last Passports but Robyn guided us and made what was possibly a bit stressful for us much easier so big thanks to Robyn.The Couriers pick up the old passports documents etc and about two weeks later our new Passports arrived then quickly followed by the old passports and documents by courier to our address.We would certainly recommend UK Abroad
