Good carpet just what I asked for no problems the fitters were brilliant polite and very helpful

The service from start to finish was excellent. Customer service in store was very professional and helpful.
Communication from the shop and the fitter was so friendly that I was very impressed. My carpet is very nice and I’m happy with it. X

From ordering to receiving the base and mattress the staff were very helpful and polite

I bought carpet for my stairs and landing. I have 2 flights of stairs.
Beautiful silver coloured carpet, comes with a guarantee. It wasn't cheap.

Within 6 months I noticed the stairs carpet (only the stairs carpet) had a weird texture to it where its walked on. Like it had melted!

There's only myself and 2 cats in the house. Im 60kg.

I thought it odd that albeit the exact same carpet was used in the landing and stairs, that there's a strange texture only in the stairs. Very odd.

Im Audhd, so this was really bugging me, its less than 6 months old, surely this cannot be "wear and tear" already? And why hasn't the landing carpet done the same?

I contact Daniel at the Ilkeston branch and reported the issue. He asked for photos. Its a silver carpet. It was almost laughable taking photos and sending them, as you can't really see "texture" on a photo, but I humoured the situation.

Daniel sent Aleister out to come see with his own eyes and hands (he spent well over 30 minutes caressing the stairs carpets) He told me that "In 30 years hes never seen anything so strange" that he couldnt see if the their fitters laid the stairs carpet properly as the weird texture hid the grain of the carpet (but not on the hallway,where its perfect as the day it was fitted and you can easily see the carpet grain when you brush it..)

Anyways, he said he will do 2 investigations, one to do with the manufacturing, and more to the point he said he would look into how it was laid.

So I was left hopeful that this awful weird texture wouldnt be around for much longer. This was late on a Friday night. He said I would hear from them very soon, but it wont be Sunday. Sure not a problem. I should have asked which Sunday.

A few weeks later I still hadn't heard anything. At this point im beyond upset. I feel Im being ignored and fobbed off.

My best friend had to go in and speak to Daniel, I just couldnt. Its too upsetting being fobbed off, I struggle to communicate verbally and find it very distressing to stand up for myself and what's right.

I received an email, which only added to the distress because apparently Aleister went back and told Daniel that there's nothing wrong with the carpet, that he couldnt see an issue and that because you can't "see" texture, the manufacturer wont do anything.

How RIDICULOUS This is.
I didn't realise guarantees worked on what shows up on camera! What idiot made those rules? Im sure it wouldnt stand up in court, its just pure lazy on their behalf. They give no care about their customers. Danielle even asked what I had cleaned the stairs with. I didn't. If Aleister or He paid any attention, I told them both I used my Shark carpet cleaner and Shark products to try and see if that would help this strange texture on the bottom 3 steps ONLY. And no it made no difference. The carpet is rated for bleach safe cleaning so unless I have access to some strong acid, what a strange question UNLESS of course theyre now shifting the blame on to me.

2 men, one single autistic lady. I feel im being bullied and gas lit and ignored.

I was told that it was just wear and tear.

It was less than 6 months old on an expensive carpet with good underlay, so I DO NOT ACCEPT this response.

UNITED CARPET AND BEDS - IF its wear and tear your carpets are substandard and you should be ashamed and be replacing my stairs carpet with an apology and a bunch of flowers and box of Thornton's for this merry run around you are giving a disabled autistic lady.

Also answer me this - Why is the hallway still looking amazing and fresh as the day it was laid? Do I not walk on that? That makes no sense. It was all from the same stock. I also have a Fibromyalgia diagnosis, so leaping from the top of one stairs and landing on the other 12 feet away and round a corner... you must be sniffing carpet glue.

So, my best friend went into speak to Daniel again. As its been weeks and still no resolution.
This is causing me terrible distress EVERY time I see the stairs,walk on the stairs, hoovering the stairs.
My autism is suffering greatly, which is making my mental health deteriorate of which I am also on the SMI register. Which means when my mental health dips, my moods go black and I need extra support...I keep my mental health, healthy. United Carpet and Beds are undoing my hard work... very frustrating.
Its silly corporate greed like this that makes people want to not be alive anymore.
I was expecting wear and tear 5 years down the line. Not 5 months.
The hallways is treated and walked on exactly the same as the stairs, so why ONLY the stairs?
I already told them, I dont want a discount. I dont want a refund, I want what I paid for. Matching stairs and hallways that's going to wear over a long time at the same rate.

I already paid, its not much to ask really is it?

Now? I'd take a full refund including the fitting and I will go elsewhere.

Make it make sense?!

A little hiccup at fitting stage. Contacted head office, they put Andrew from Hartley Rd branch on the case. What an asset he is to united carpets!
Took swift action, looked for a solution not excuses.
Delighted with my new floor.
Great time keeping and respected my home by removing shoes upon entry. All staff, in spite of the hiccup, were super professional and polite!
No dilly dallying. Fast service with same week fitting.
Will shop here again.

Fantastic service. Great communication. Carpet is perfect, fitted perfectly and was good value for money. We have used this shop before and will be back for flooring for the rest of our house as we refurbish. Highly recommended.

The guy in the showroom and the guy who came to measure where both very nice,but then the fitter was very rude unpleasant & unfriendly .He left an almighty mess ,didn’t even ask if we wanted to look at it before he left, terrible mess terrible attitude!!! Pictures to prove it!!
We did report this to the shop but never heard another word back.

Very easy transaction - from going in the store to having the carpet fitted was a great experience. Quick & very professional throughout, we're delighted with the carpet & the speed of installation from order (couple of weeks).
