Careful, predatory to elders...hard to cancel!

I just helped my dad cancel a subscription by calling thier customer service. The person we spoke to didn't seem to understand that her actual job is to do what the customer asks and not to try to sell or keep the account going when they have asked for it to be closed. Her line of questioning was clearly intended to play on his weakness as an aged person. It makes me wonder they regularly take advantage of elderly people since he had called previously and tried to close his account only to be talked into keeping it, and paying more. I wanted to let others know through this honest review what I think of their service and representatives. The lady was so condescending and rude. When I tried to speak for my dad (with his permission) the rep. did not want to listen and that confirmed to me that the motive is to sell and not actually provide customer service. Be careful with this company. They will not make it easy to cancel.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us, Darcy.

We apologize for the experience you and your dad had with our customer service. I understand how you both must be feeling and it’s disheartening to hear that the interaction left a negative view of the USCCA with you both. We appreciate your taking the time to leave an honest review and allow us the opportunity to investigate.

Our primary goal is to provide exceptional customer service and assist our customers with their requests, including cancellations, without undue pressure. After reviewing the calls on your Father's Account, multiple coaching opportunities did arise. It is never acceptable for a Member of our team to come across as rude or condescending.

Our team is dedicated to ensuring that each member’s decision to cancel their membership is a thoughtful one, given the importance we place on the value it brings. While we strive for clarity and understanding during these conversations, we acknowledge that the manner in which the advisor handled your situation fell short of our service standards. We have taken immediate steps to address this by providing the necessary coaching to the advisor.

Your feedback will be used to improve our training processes and ensure that all our representatives provide a positive and helpful experience.

Please feel free to reach out to us at 1-877-677-1919 or support@uscca.com if you have any questions or additional concerns.

I was a member for many years and…

I was a member for many years and satisfied with what they promised to cover for the price, I ONLY subscribed because they guaranteed never to raise the rate as long as I stayed a consistent customer, which I did, this year they raised the rate substantially and said it was because of the added bonuses etc which I use none of, and I believe a class action suit is needed. Someone please contact me if you find a good class action lawyer. I have yet to use any of the so called added benefits ever and never plan to as the majority of subscribers also do not and given the chance, rather than shoved down the throats of all I am 100% certain membership would vote against the increase that supposedly comes from added value. And as to the premium will never increase, it WAS offered to early subscribers then stopped, I was a very early member paying only $179 for the best you offered, I assume Tim no longer runs the show or he has turned greedy.

We appreciate your feedback Kenny and the time you spent as a valued member of our community. We understand your concerns regarding the pricing change, and we’d like to provide some clarity on the matter.

Firstly, we’d like to sincerely apologize for any confusion or miscommunication regarding rates based on sustained loyalty. As with any product or service, pricing adjustments are sometimes necessary to reflect the added value of said product or service. We are constantly looking for new education and training as well as membership enhancements that provide members with the necessary tools and resources to be responsibly armed Americans. Although pricing is subject to change along with these enhancements to membership, it is also an ongoing goal to keep pricing as manageable for our members as possible. This is why membership pricing has only increased one time in the history of the organization, but we have never committed to keeping pricing fixed indefinitely.

In Oct 2020 the USCCA retired the Self-Defense Shield Protection Plan and purchased a Self-Defense Liability Insurance policy, which was issued to the association. All members, regardless of membership level become additional insureds on that policy. On November 1, 2022, this policy was improved to provide no limit defense expenses for a covered act of self-defense. The listed annual limits of liability apply to civil damages ($2,000,000 per policy period), incidental expenses ($20,000 per incident), and bail ($100,000 per incident).

We proactively communicated the price adjustments to our members through a comprehensive approach. Before their renewal dates, all members, irrespective of their level, were informed about the price increase through a thoughtfully crafted series of communications. This included both email correspondence and a physical mailer, ensuring that our members received clear and timely notifications.

We hope this provides clarity. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss this in more detail, please don’t hesitate to contact our customer service team at 1-877-677-1919.

They put a cap on how much they will…

I had the USCCA elite membership for a few years. They put a cap on how much they will give you for your defense if you are ever charged. That includes bail and expert witnesses. That money will go very quickly! If you are found guilty or if you accept a plea deal, you have to pay all the money back. They also don't cover you if your are on a voluntary church security team.
Update question: Who decides if it was self defense or not?
No thank you. I'd rather use CCW Safe or Attorneys on Retainer
USCCA is on their way out. There is much better protection out there, who won't drop you when you need them!!!!

Hi, JH. Thank you for sharing your feedback on our membership as we appreciate the opportunity to chat openly about your concerns.

Since November 1, 2022, there has been no cap on defense expenses for a covered act of self-defense. This applies to civil or criminal cases and covers all reasonable and necessary expenses incurred to defend the member including things like court costs, court taxes, and expert witnesses. Additionally, a $2,000,000 annual allowance for civil liability damages may be awarded as the result of a civil suit after a covered incident/occurrence. This means if you have a covered incident and you are sued civilly as a result - any damages awarded to the plaintiff (the person suing you) in court - up to $2,000,000 - could be covered by this allowance. Regarding bail bond coverage, bail bond is a stand-alone line item that would be available up to each claim limit of $100,000. How that is handled would be under that state’s rules and regulations.

In addressing the recovery clause, the insurance company cannot and will not provide coverage for incidents that were not self-defense. This provision gives the insurance company the ability to recoup amounts paid in the event it is later determined that the incident in question was not an act of self-defense. All responsibly armed Americans would agree that if what was initially presented as a lawful act of self-defense turned out to be a black-and-white first-degree murder, the insurance company should be able to recoup payments. It is also important to note, that the USCCA’s insurer has defended thousands of members, paid millions in coverage, and has never sought to recover any of the legal fees paid on behalf of members.

Importantly, there are no exclusions in the policy regarding volunteer church security teams. We have many church security teams that are currently USCCA members. It’s essential to recognize that these teams and individuals are acting in their individual personal capacity, not in the scope of their employment.

Lastly, determining whether or not a case meets the criteria for self-defense is not something that is taken lightly. Because of this, the determination is based on the facts of each individual case as they are presented. Those facts are reviewed by the insurance company, just like they are reviewed by any lawyer you may hire, to determine if they support a self-defense argument.

We hope this provides clarity. If you have any further questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to our customer service team at 1-877-677-1919.

USCCA protects me 24x7x365

I have been a USCCA customer for a year. It is time to review.
First, I have never used their services, thankfully. But I sleep well at night knowing that I am protected 24x7x365.
I had my life threatened (my girlfriend's ex). I feared that I might have to protect myself SOON. So, I joined USCCA. Gosh, I wished this guy would have threatened me 12 years ago when I first got my concealed carry permit. Imagine being the fool that carries but goes unprotected from the legal side of an engagement. Justified shooting or not, I don't have $20K (or more) in my bank account to hire and pay a lawyer to protect my a%@ should I need to be represented.
If you are smart enough to carry so that you can protect yourself and those that you love you are smart enough to pay for insurance should you ever need to protect yourself.
Don't be stupid. If you are going to buy insurance buy the best. USCCA comes HIGHLY recommended on almost all of the forums. Being the biggest doesn't make them the best. What they deliver does.
