Today is the 21st Nov. I ordered a clock from this mob 26th Sep. I too didn't read the reviews. (Stupid). I have internet shopped for over 10 Years and have NEVER encountered such an appalling experie... See more

Awful company, awful customer service.
Avoid like the plague!
I ordered an item from variety.co.uk - the next day i was told my card had been declined, so i checked with my bank - they said the transaction was approved, which was odd i thought, so I went back to try and buy the item again to find it had significantly increased in cost. Now it made sense. Rather than tell me there was a pricing mistake - they just cancelled my order.
Contacted their customer support on the telephone hear unhelpfully "all i can tell you is what you've been told" - so contacted customer support on email.. no reply.
Very poor indeed. won't be dealing with them again!
Again, I've challenged Variety on their comment below. Predictably i've not had anything back. They repeatedly ignore what i was told by the bank, that there was no problem with the transaction and was authorised by the 3d secure online banking system.

Lovely
From ordering to delivery was 3 days, arrived well packaged to prevent damage and was exactly as described. Lovely mirror, just what my daughter wanted.
Website misleading and breaking Distance Selling rules
The Variety website looks very good with 'Free delivery on over 40,000 products' emblazoned on virtually every page and claim that 'We won't surprise you with any hidden charges or handling fees'
I ordered a small bookcase for £91.67 from this site for delivery to an address in Berkshire and the product page stated 'Free delivery to mainland UK'
Delivery was also stated as free when I placed the order and on the confirmation email I received later.
Six days later I receive an email stating that as the item was already assembled and they have had problems delivering this item there was now a delivery charge of £29.99!!!
When I replied stating my shock I was told the bookcase ‘needed a specialist 2 man courier’
I have checked the website and selected 10 larger pieces of furniture from tables to dressers and strangely enough they all show as 'Free delivery' when ordering.
Every item appears to be 'Free Delivery'
Distance selling rules state that 'pre-purchase information(webpages) and written information(confirmation emails') must show delivery costs therefore they are breaking this rule let alone their own standards. Unbelievable!
Have raised this with the consumer service/Trading Standards and will be making others aware of this very poor service
Amazing company and great service
I found Variety friendly and helpful, always willing to do whatever it takes to give you your request. They even pushed the boat out so that I didn't have to use a courier company that I didn't like the customer service of. Will be back for more items for my bedroom.
Dodgy delivery terms
I ordered an £12 item from Variety which on the page (and still, at the time of posting) states 'Free Mainland Delivery'. Even when actually ordering the item I could only select 'Free Delivery', but once the order had been placed I received an email stating that items under £40 are subject to a £4.99 delivery charge. I contacted them explaning that there was no option for paid delivery and that it they were unable to actually provide the item for the original cost then I would like a refund. Four days later I received a standard fob-off 'apologies for the inconvenience' email with no mention of why it might have happened.
I checked their delivery terms and found the following paragraph:
"This [delivery] charge, if any, is listed on the product detail page and covers delivery to most parts of the UK. We won't surprise you with any hidden charges or handling fees. The price you see is the price you pay. Beware of companies who mask their delivery charges and policies."
I certainly can't argue with that!
Really impressed!
I’m very impressed with this company! I’m usually wary of buying expensive items online as you never know how trustworthy the websites are, but I took the chance and ordered a TV stand. It got delivered 2 days later, much sooner than I expected, and it was well packaged to protect it from bumps.
Overall, I can say that Variety make online shopping a breeze as they avoided any problems and made my experience a positive one – a pretty tough task since I was very critical at first. I’m very pleased with their service and highly recommend them!
Shocking customer service and poor quality goods.
We ordered a bed from this company which was sent with a massive crack in the headboard. We contacted them and were advised over the phone a new one would be sent out, and that we would also receive an e-mail with the instructions to build the bed as these had also not been included. When neither things happened we contacted them again. We then found out that their telephone line denied all knowledge of this call and advised we had to do this via e-mail, which we did. the replacement piece was also sent with several cracks in it, and we are now over three weeks in to a battle with this company to get a refund. I have even made a "formal complaint" but it appears they don't have any procedure for this at all and haven't even acknowledged this. We have had several failed collections of this bed for return to the company and although this has now been collected, they now claim they can find no evidence of this collection, despite having arranged it. Trading standards and the small claims court are the next steps. These are a bunch of disorganised charlatans and they shouldn't be allowed to trade. More vulnerable people would have given up by now. Beyond disgusting. They also take no responsibility for any of this and seem to not understand the sales of goods act or the distance selling regulations.
