I ordered the vegan safety boots in the Chelsea boot style. When reading the description they mention coming up small, so I ordered the next size up. Well they have arrived and coming up small was an... See more

Pricey products, cheap quality
Over seven years I have bought several and different products from this company, mostly because I like the idea of supporting local and independent businesses; some of the items were better than others. My general impression is that they sell shoes and boots made out of very cheap materials and poorly assembled. Once I've had to get a pair of shoes replaced from them after only one week because the inside, had already got ripped. My most recent purchase (last winter) was a pair of very good-looking vintage boots. When they came they instantaneously looked and felt pretty light-weight and cheap, which isn't a good sign for a pair of boots; mind you, boots with a wooden heel that I paid £90. After wearing them only a bunch of times, I've stopped using them after four months because I realised that the sole was of such a poor quality that it was scraping away like butter against a knife. So, I've had to spend an extra £25 to get them fitted with a proper, sturdy sole and on top of that, when it rains the boots become totally useless since they are not water-proof and your feet get completely soaked.
Overall, average-to-low quality products, materials and manufacturing, against the price, which is a shame since the style and look is very appealing.
I got the Snuggle Boots
I got the Snuggle Boots, absolutely fab. Ive spent too many years wearing Uggs that push my ankles over. These boots not only have a soul but are really comfortable. Highly recommended.
Bought over 5 years ago and they still…
Bought over 5 years ago and they still look good as new! Shoes usually have a short life span with me, but these have been with me to festivals, rainforests, formal events etc.. On one occasion I was hitchhiking and 'sleeping rough' so wore them for 100+ hours without taking them off, and they proved themselves to be sturdy, waterproof and comfortable. Furthermore, my style has changed a lot in the past five years but these boots have always stayed in rotation. Well worth the money!
Tongues
Boots are nice but the tongues keep sliding over to one side. Not great for the price.
Love the 20 eyelet steel toe cap boots…
I got the 20 eyelet steel toe cap boots over 10 years ago and I’ve put them though hell. Archaeological sites, regular raves and gardening & walking for all that time. I even accidentally stored them in a damp place for 6 months and had to bring them back from mildew but they did it and still look & feel great.
However, I have wide feet and ordered my regular size which works out ok 80% of the time but when my feet are hot in the rave and have been dancing for a few hours the seam where the tounge is sewed in digs in a bit uncomfortably.
The 20 eyelets are a tough job to get off at the end of the day or night (but that was my choice!!). Also the tounge is weirdly narrow which strikes me as particularly noticeable as my legs are not skinny. Also the toe caps are HUGE on a size 3 boot so feel a bit clownish sometimes but they are practical 😂
No real complaints, I’ll buy another pair once these are finally done, although they have gone up about 30% in price since 2010!!
Fantastic service and great quality belts
I bought two belts, they were lovely but they were slightly too small for my waist, the team were so helpful in organizing replacement belts even after my return got lost in the post! I don't normally do reviews but I'd definitely shop here again, I'm so happy with what I bought! x
Happy Feet!
The Airseal boots (I bought the 10-eye / purple / steel-toe) are BRILLIANT! I expected them to shred my feet til broken in, but wore them as soon as they arrived for 4hours straight and every day since. Am on my feet all day and they are comfy and sturdy and I ADORE the purple. (Also many admirers, veggies & non-veggies alike.) Surely no-one would choose DocMarten's over these if they tried them! Thank you from me and my happy tootsies! I want to buy all your shoes now...
Great Experience. Great Boots
I am so happy to finally own a pair of Vegetarian Shoes boots. I recently purchased a pair of their Euro Safety Boots and am very pleased with them. They are comfy, soft and look easy to break in. The shopping experience was simple and delivery was quick. I am impressed with their packaging which contained NO plastic. The shoebox was cardboard and the bag they were sent in was paper. I will be buying from Vegetarian Shoes again and recommending them to anyone looking for an alternative to leather footwear.
Paros sandal
I ordered some Paros sandals after much research...i couldn't find any reviews online. I wanted to be certain of size, to minimize exchanges via the post, the website stated to 'buy the size you are, you do not need to size down', I emailed asking for personal opinion from staff but they just stated what was on the website. I ordered 'the size I actually am' and they were enormous. I then ordered 2 sizes down, (the size I would normally buy in Birkenstocks) and they were much better, but after wearing for a day, they are actually a little too small but I can't return them now as I have worn them! The conversion between UK and EU sizing is confusing. The size 41 I ordered looked like a UK size 8.5, but the 39 is like a 6...I should have gone for a 40 but I thought it would be massive. The packaging was good, postage times and staff i dealt with during exchanges have been efficient. The website needs to be clearer on sizing for this particular item. The Paros sandal looks well made, is colourful and compares very well to Birkenstocks, it's a wide fit and comfortable if the size is right (but my toes touch the lip when bending my foot which might become irritating). Buy one EU size down from the size you buy in general UK shoes/buy one size up from the EU size of Birkenstocks!
have bought a fair few boots and hoes…
have bought a fair few boots and hoes from this company and they have mostly been good, however my most recent purchase has been disappointing, the tongue has a lip on it which digs in to your feet unless you use like a front style shoehorn to get the boots on, the boots have scuffed really easily and quickly.
I do not mind these if the boots were like £50-60 but they were over £100.
In fairness veg shoes were cool about it and offered to pay for a local repair but I did not have the time to source an ethical repair person in my area that doesn't charge a lot and I don't live near Brighton, but those are kind of my issues. What I should have done is try on the pair I bought first ( I tried on a different pair of the same style which were fine ) that way I would have felt the lip. I am sure it will wear down in time and the boots do look cool.
A thicker soul would have been good but I will get them re soled with a thicker wedge later.
Excellent quality boots
Excellent quality boots, I have a pair each of Snugg boots, Gobi 2 boots and Pinatex Snugg boots and they are all good quality, long lasting and comfortable boots. I received a pair of faulty boots, contacted Vegetarian Shoes who exchanged the boots and refunded the return postage. I cannot fault this company or their boots and shall be requesting another pair to add to my collection next xmas. Snugg boots have lasted 2 years, walked hundreds of miles and are only just starting to show signs of wear. Absolutely recommended.
Couldn't be happier!
I bought a pair of Airseal 10 Eye Boot Steel Toes through the website. I went down a size as they suggested. I was worried that by going down a size they might not fit so well because I've had issues with boot sizes in the past. But I honestly couldn't be happier, they fit so well and they're so comfy, I've already worn them out twice and don't feel as though they need breaking in or anything. I love how the packaging is also eco friendly. The delivery was hassle free too. I would definitley recommend these to anyone who is looking for an alternative to leather boots or is just looking for some great quality boots :)
I ordered the Amy sandal as new work…
I ordered the Amy sandal as new work shoes (I am a nurse). They are a wide fitting but not advertised as such. On trying to return these, there is no return label. So not only did I have the privilege of paying p&p in the first place, I also had to pay to send them back! And for their poor advertising of the product. Wont be buying from them again! I found a similar product for £35 from schuh..free delivery and a returns label was enclosed.
really dissapointed
The shoes I ordered were sized incorrectly.
This was a manufacturer's mistake and not due to any error on my part. It was not a slightly small fitting shoe (which is the opposite of what they advertise as) but at least two full sizes too small.. When I emailed the company (with pictures side by side my shoes showing the difference) they were absolutely unhelpful and uncaring about the issue, and only offered an exchange if I returned the shoes and paid for shipping out of pocket, which would cost over half the price of the shoes. I know for a fact that it is significantly cheaper for the company to ship things to the US than it is for me to try to ship them back to the UK. Most companies would have offered to either ship another pair of correctly sized shoes for no cost, a store credit, or at the very least provided some sort of shipping voucher or offered to pay the shipping in order to have the shoes exchanged. It really is unfortunate that the quality control for manufacturing is obviously seriously lacking considering the high price point. I need slip resistant shoes for my job, and non-animal options are between doc martens and canvas shoes that will fall apart but I honestly could have bought two brand new pairs of docs for how much I've spent and not had to worry about the sizing issues/returns. I would rather spend a little more for an ethical option but I feel like I was completely ripped off.
No lasting power.
I bought a pair of low-top skater shoes (the vegan supreme) one year ago. They immediately began to fall apart. The fabric (hemp) detached from the sides and so I contacted VS. I was told that I could take them to a shoe repair place and have them fixed. I went to two different places and they both told me it will continue to separate because of the way the hemp is woven. I sewed some of it back together but one year after purchasing and they are not going to last much longer. The soles are very good and sturdy but the hemp weaving is super weak and just keeps falling apart. I'm disappointed because I had these shipped to Canada since they are supposed to be the best and so they were VERY expensive for a shoe that lasted one year of wear.
Decent if you can afford them
Nice shoes but they are far too expensive for what they are. A great concept and some nice styles for some of the shoes but not killing animals does not justify charging people a hefty price, that is not good-willed. It's a shame that this is a middle-class product not accessible to all.
Wonderful company, at least if you buy vegan leather boots.
In my experience the staff was very nice, even though it turned out i was in the wrong, now i got 2 extra shoe polishes for free and feel like a muppethead :) So i decided the least i could do was write a review. The steel toed boots i ordered are wonderful, the red ones didnt look as vivid as the picture before the polish and the black ones also looked quite dull and felt very rigid. I recommend using dubbin to get shine before first use as the boots were completely transformed. I used black shoepolish at first to make them blacker then the dubbin to make them shine. The boots were very uncomfortable at first but they are getting better, it might have to do with my feet. I got the measurement for the inside of the shoes the first time i ordered, i would say its worth measuring your feet before ordering, especially from abroad like me. I only get compliments when i wear them, super nice and shiny now. If i had more money i would buy a ton more variations :P
Low quality product
Not the best quality considering the price. I ordered hiking boots thinking that it's going to be a good investment but they both came apart. I brought them to the shoe repair shop and the guy told that they are very bad quality so even if he tries to repair they will break again.
The shipping is quite expensive as well and I had to pay twice since the sizing was not correct neither.
Very dissapointoed and would not recommmend!
The airseal 10 boots are great
The airseal 10 boots are great, they seem tough and they look awesome! My only complaint is that the tongue keeps trying to slide over to the side of my ankle.
Shaft is indeed quite "snugg".
These "snugg" boots in black are Infact snugg. The shaft of the boot anyway. I couldn't get my foot through with a sock on. Once in it was basically fine except for still being a little snug at the base of the shaft. I have a bit wide feet. But not that wide. And once in it was still tight around the stitching. I have only just received them and it isn't quite cold enough that I'd have to wear socks yet. So hopefully they give a little before Christmas and I can work something out. Break them in. Quality looks good though. They don't scream synthetic material. Faux shearling is a little thin. They still felt warm though. Would have given them a five star review if it weren't for how crazy right the shaft was. Great for ppl who usually have a loose boot complaint though.
