Come here well fed. The pricing for food is downright insulting, the quality is similar. Must be one of the world's worst for food options and price gouging. Who needs a Sacher Frankfurter. Since when... See more

Absolutely appalling airport on a level…
Absolutely appalling airport on a level with London Stansted. Rude security staff shouting orders in German, no information about what needs to be removed from bags before scans.. Outrageous prices for food and drinks on the gate side. €4.50 for a bottle of tango..
The experience has put me off ever visiting Vienna again, abysmal experience from start to finish.
The rudest airport staff I have ever encountered
Austrian Ajrlines is my favorite airline and I love how well connected Vienna Airport is- and you experience such amazing, polite, friendly creew members, onmy to be met by airport staff that is so rude, do angry, so unfriendly, it literally makes people petrified to do a simple safety gate procedure!
Many airport staff members always appear so angry, are very unfriendly, and intimidating, which made the whole safety routine procedures at security and boarding unnecessarily stressful!
why?! The passengers are not acting differently than at other destinations and their airports!).
I was not going to say anything and for years I have kept my silence - not anymore after this last trip!
You can do better, Vienna! I know you can!
Racist / ignorant immigration officer
Fly in from London holding a British passport with multiple travel stamps. This old ignorant immigration officer started going through my pp and stamps suspiciously as if theyre not real. Ive been in and out of European countries for many years, this is the first time an idiot pretends he knows what he's doing and started asking silly question as if Vienna has all the reasons for me to stay forever. Good news!! Vienna is not my most favourite place and this immigration officer just adds to that reason why I would never recommend tourist to come to Vienna. Im here for business trip and only for 12 long hours then im gone. Train that idiot properly coz he's a waste of the passengers time.
Inefficient and arrogant
Travelled from Terminal One on Thursday. Check in staff unapproachable and arrogant. Didn't see any sign of help for invisible disabilities in spite of their pride of recognising the sunflower lanyard and me having booked special assistance. Needs to be addressed. Staff member had already shown she was disinterested so I felt there was o point in asking her. Security staff - awful. They emptied my bag - took out a sealed snow globe purchased an hour previously - had to go through testing three times before I was allowed to go - the third time at a security desk a long way from where I was. We had two other snow globes which were not even mentioned. Worst security I've experienced - made to feel like a criminal over. Snow globe purchased in Vienna. Poor signage for places to eat. Ryanair staff members just arrogant - checking as many bags as they could from non priority passengers - I had purchased an extra one but checked my husband's small rucksack - it was a joke because it could have fitted into the stand three times over! Didn't check any priority passengers at all. Herded on to a bus and made stand for ages - it was 30°C - before we could get off and board the plane. I have never experienced such attitude and arrogance at any airport like this one - from check in to departure.
Bad customer service
Flying from Vienna to London STN via Ryanair.
Firstly, we queued up at the check-in counters to verify our passports and for baggages. No one was serving us and we were just standing there while they serve others…. Once we were at the counter, they wasted about 40 minutes of our time. My mother was just a tourist entering the UK but they insisted her to show them the e-visa sharing code which was not applicable for her case. We showed them multiple proofs that she doesn’t need a sharing code to enter the UK and showed them the UK ETA email. However, they still insisted us on showing them her share code. I hope the staffs working in the airport improves their immigration knowledge instead of wasting our time. Not sure if it was discrimination due to us being foreign looking….. Please improve your customer service.
The worst airport I have experienced so…
The worst airport I have experienced so far. Unfriendly.
Rude lady 👎🏻
23/04/2025 in the gates C-D around 12:00
A rude young lady works in the gates treat me like an animal which is not respectable
I was holding my big bag which I suppose to take it to the check in… she start to scream on my face hyy! Go out right noow!!!
I was so angry that I would have treated her in a more vile manner.
You could have said politely, "Sir, please go to the place …in this direction …to report your bag. Its your job that’s why you are there " I am not your friend to treat me rudely. If you are on your period or have a mental illness, stay home and make bread. You don't know that I traveled four hours by car to arrive and I am tired. Please choose employees of a higher standard. Not everyone can deal with all categories of passengers. This is my last experience at this airport and I will not return.
Rude
Rude, unfriendly staff members, treat people like garbage. Will never go to Vienna again
The worst Airport ever!!!
The worst Airport ever!!!
Information desk which is supposed to open early and close late to help people get the information they need, is closed! And does not open until 9 o’clock! And when they finally open, it’s ok to give the answer “ I don’t know” to your question! If the information desk doesn’t know, then who does?!. Let alone the rude staff around the airport and the empty airport services desk!!!
I’ve always heard that Austria is ranked the rudest and unfriendliest country, but now I’ve experienced it live and the rest of the city wasn’t any better!
Piece of advice; avoid this airport at all costs!
Worst airport
Staff very unhelpful, 1 person totally ignored us and carried on talking to his colleague wouldn't even look at us. Flight had been changed from mid morning to 6.40am, nothing even open for a coffee!!!
Appalling check in services again!
Appalling check in services again!! Sky Priority: 1 Desk open, took 35mins of waiting in line- awful! Economy: 5 desks- much faster. What's the point of clients buying first and business class when Vienna airport is run like a small village rather than an international airport?? I will ask my office to find better alternatives for future travel for the entire company. Consistently very poor check in service!!
Shocking security process
The layout at security is terrible in terminal 1. You scan your boarding pass and immediately join a “line” for security but can’t move because there’s no organisation, just a free for all of people trying to get to their stuff through the scanners. Beautiful city but left with a really bad impression due to that. Must give credit to other staff away from security who were friendly.
I have never experienced more rude…
I have never experienced more rude security personnel than at this airport. They treat everyone going through security with such haughty, rude demeanor that it’s a wonder people put up with treatment like that, literally yelling, barking orders, making an issue out of things that could be dealt with in a respectable manner. Men and women personnel were equally as nasty and unprofessional. It truly ruined my impression of Austrians.
Awful signage and directions
Awful signage and directions. Change bureaus closed or out of existence. Staff knows hardly anything about anything. Halls too narrow to accommodate crowds. Food and beverage outlets have long lines, are too small and regularly won't accept cards. Toilets down staircases, construction ongoing, etc. Main restaurant closed at 4pm. What a dump. Should be fined by the European Union for being a substandard facility.
I never experienced such a bad…
I never experienced such a bad experience than this airline they keep me in the airport for 2 days and ask me 2000$ to return my country or I can stay in the airport forever
The officer's eyes were full of hate
The officer's eyes were full of hate, trying to provoke me. I've herd from her: "will call police, shut your mouth, sexual harassment". I felt like dealing with Gestapo oficer. I'd wish I'd get her name. I'm not visiting Austria ever again..
Lost and Frowned.
My partner had left her iPad in the X-ray security scanner tray as it was being scanned. She found it did not come out at the other side. Just went missing. She contacted me back home to help and I contacted lost and found where they informed me that there is a low recovery rate. The lost and found official was arrogant and obstructive to deal with. I sense from their emails they don’t care at all and are unwilling to even look debating minor details with me. Just look!! My partner also told me the check in was awful. Lots of queuing and only one member of staff. In future we will avoid this airport at all costs. There are better ones. The lost and “found” needs to be investigated independently with such a low recovery rate.
The airport from hell
This must definitely be the airport from hell, worse even than Charles de Gaulle in Paris. What a confusing mess and such cross, sullen, unhelpful and even unfriendly staff (with the positive exception of the cleaning lady). The layout is really bad and the signage very confusing. On top of that (or rather, bottom of that) there is barely anywhere to get food. It seems incredible that this is actually the international airport of beautiful Vienna. Rather, one would think it was the airport of some far-off smalltown in a communist country.
Worst airport ever in Europe
Worst airport ever in Europe
Staff removed my costly medicines and asked me to produce physical receipt - it was the medicine which was crucial for my health and nowhere I have been asked to throw my medicines.
Also, in the morning when there is a peak crowd for early flights there is only one staff at all sections.
Never ever travelling to this airport and this country, cheap air fares is not worth the rudeness of the staff.
Incredibly rude Gate D security staff
Unfortunately, like the reviews below, the security staff getting into the gates are completely deplorable and need firing. There is no other word for it. Incredibly rude, unapproachable, doesn't explain clearly why you have to separate your belongings so much into different trays and obnoxious towards passengers for no good reason. "THANK YOU FOR NOT LISTENING TO ME" - erm, excuse me?! I was shocked at the audacity and arrogance - how can an airport think this is an acceptable way to speak to passengers. I had to bite my tongue VERY hard - it's honestly like they go out of their way to gaslight you. I've made a complaint to the airport to take this seriously, but how far I'll get for them to do anything about it I don't know.
Very confusing layout. The queues to get through passport control were very long-winded. The WiFi didn't work. Both the Duty-Free and food/drink are also very overpriced - I only found one item out the whole place that I thought was a fair price. I'd avoid this airport if at all possible, by far the worst I've been to. The only positive was the direct train connection to the city centre.
