Terrible airport.
Awful experience
Awful experience! Security staff at gates treat passengers like garbage! Very disrespectful and pushy attitude towards people who pay for their wages! Never again!
Security and restrooms
Security and restrooms
Security is slow and not organized.
Too less restrooms, Women have to wait in very long lines.
Good that the people building the airport think that they did a good job. :-)
Worst airport gate G security
Today I was leaving Vienna Gate G and had very bad experience. Traveled many places in the world. By far this is one of the worst airport. Security staff communicates very rudely and acts bossy, they don’t use the word bitte/ please. Austrian Vienna airport administration, please teach your security-staff some communication skills. Looks like Airports staffs all uneducated people in security check. There was not even a single person behind me and still the way of communication is so poor. Try to attend kindergarten one more time to learn way of communication.
terrible and confusing airport
terrible and confusing airport, extremely dirty toilets, the only good thing was phone charging points
We are UK/EU dual citizens and Vienna…
We are UK/EU dual citizens and Vienna Airport was so disappointing. Toilets had not baby changing rooms, no priority for families at immigration. Our daughter had to wet herself because of the long queue and staff was so understaffed. Maybe it’s just us, but expected much more from Austria. Budapest Airport is much better in all above aspects in comparison.
I think its time to let passengers know…
I think its time to let passengers know what happened to our family with a 1 year and 3 year old at the boarding gate with Ryanair, and VPHS is the handling company in charge for checkin and at the boarding gate!
I would like to complain about the poor, unfriendly boarding to Kos on June 3rd. The gentleman, who was so mean and unfriendly in a very stressful situation, didn't have it under control, even though the flight back from KOS to Vienna went smoothly yesterday. (same number of pieces of luggage).
Flight with Ryanair-Lauda from Vienna to Kos
My wife and our two children, 1 year and 3.5 years old, were charged an extra payment of EUR 45, even though my wife had booked the baggage online with Ryanair ahead of time.
The lady at check-in instructed my wife to take this paid piece of luggage into the cabin. We had a stroller and I brought it to the bulky luggage counter.
The gentleman at the boarding gate warned me two or three times that if I kept talking, I wouldn't get on the plane! He also asked me to put my small backpack in the measuring stand, I folded it up and it fit in. This was included in the hand package. I had nothing else with me! The rest belonged to my wife's check-in.
When the whole drama was over, the gentleman went to the next boarding gate and, as I happened to observe, he spoke briefly to a supervisor in a suit and pointed his finger to his forehead. No comment on that!
We boarded the plane, and I took the 2 times paid EUR 55 and the overcharge EUR 45 luggage with me, before I entered the plane, I gave the 10kg luggage to the ground handling stuff and he put it under the planes compartment.
Kind regards,
Günther Schauer

Unpolited staff
Unpolited staff, ridiculosly small airport with minimum number of restaurants and shops. Austrian airline loundge staff at the reception very unfriendly, tax refund employee as well. All in all, an airport to avoid
Highly arrogant security guy
Highly arrogant security guy. Clearly he comes from a background where women are not allowed to speak. He did not look at me, did not allow me to speak, was unfriendly and worse of all I felt unsecure and threatened by him! He also asked to check my flight number. I asked him what he was going to do with it. He said it depends what I will do with his name (which I asked for previously). No comment. He worked at terminal 1 at 5:30 am CET on Monday 29th, is tall, has brown skin and black hair. Scary guy…
The public messages at the airport are racist!
The public messages at the airport show a Turkish-looking man being purportedly aggressive to a pale, meek staff person. The admonition is to treat staff with respect! Actually, stereotyping, racist messages are rude!!
Harsh Hostile Environment. Never Again.
If harsh, hostile and incompetent nicotine addicts could be placed in one room, that room would be the Vienna airport VIE. Also don’t fly Austrian Airlines. Extremely rude and cold behavior, terrible airlines that overbooked more than 10% and slow staff. I threw my ticket on the spot and rebooked another airlines. They did not show empathy for my 70 year old grandmother or give any priority and told us we would not lose anything anyways because we used points and mileage. I will never come to Austria again, doesn’t deserve any tourism. Better places to see in Europe with nicer people and better service. Waste of time . As a frequent traveler, I am appalled at this and it will be my last time in Austria. I recommend no one to visit this country. First impressions begin at the airport and the airlines.

Queues outside gents and ladies
Queues outside gents and ladies. Need I say any more? There is literally no excuse. You need more facilities. It’s peak season and you are your prices are horrendous. Surely you can build more toilets in the place.
Vienna bagge waiting time-Joke!!!
Every year, waiting for baggage is same time as flight from London to Vienna.
Total joke and disgrace!!!!
1:30-2:00 hours waiting is far too long.
Forced to put pet through luggage…
Forced to put pet through luggage x-ray.
In Wien airport, between 2 flights, while the first was delayed (Austrian airlines fault), with only 20 minutes to make it to the other plane, the personnel stops animal owners and make them go through extra checks without saying why. In order to not miss the other flight, my cat (and other pets) had to go through the x-ray for hand luggage, and the personnel even made the owners sign a paper stating that they agree with this. Disgusting! Personnel didn't say the irradiation dose that the pets got even though they were specifically asked several times, only stated that "it's safe". When trying to call for an explanation and inquire about details, airport personnel is very rude, almost yells, slams the phone (because this "is not their problem"), and blame each other (airline blames airport, airport blames both airline and security check company). I called 5 different numbers, and sometimes didn't even get to explain my situation before they slammed the phone. Horrible. Never fly through Wien with pets!! Worst airport!

Worst airport experience
My ordeal at the Vienna airport started when my connecting flight was canceled while I was on my flight to Vienna. After seeing that my connecting flight was cancelled me and my colleague headed for the passport control so that we can exit and find a place where we can ask about the flight that was cancelled. We asked various employees for directions where we can inquire regarding the flight. They all provided us with wrong directions, we spent and hour and a half trying to figure were the correct Austrian Airlines counter was. We walked the airport up and down for four times, went even through security just so that we end up on a wrong counter. At the end, one of the passport control employees helped us find the correct counter which was at the other side of the airport, and no one before mentioned it.
Finally when we arrived at the Austrian airlines counter we found ourselves at the end of a huge waiting line, just for reference we were issued a ticket number 204 and the current number on the counter was 54. We were waiting for 9 long hours to even get to the counter, just to be greeted with arrogant and rude, totally unhelpful staff. The woman at the counter didn't care about helping you find the easiest way to reach your end destination. She wanted to reroute us to a completely third country, stay a night there (they refused to pay for a hotel for one night) and the following day to catch another flight to our original destination.
In the end, since I was insisting on a different flight one of the ladies at the other counters helped us find a more convenient flight which the first person was convincing us was fully booked. But the torture didn't end here, since our checked in luggage wasn't with us we urged them to put the luggage on the same flight with us, and they lied to us that the luggage will be loaded on the plane with us which of course wasn't. Even when boarding the flight the employees assured us that the luggage is at the moment in transit and that will be loaded shortly, of course it wasn't. What's even worse, they kept our luggage in Vienna airport for 6 days. SIX effing days.
Won't be travelling using Austrian airlines ever again, and will make sure to never step foot on their airport. Never seen more incompetent and unhelpful staff.
