Awful customer service

We never actually stayed there but I think I need to explain the kind of customer service they give. Me and my husband arrived home from holiday about 12am. Unfortunately our door key broke and we could not get in. We were unable to get a spare key until the next day. This hotel is literally a 10 min drive from our house. I couldn't book a room online as I assume it was past end of day and I could no longer select the date. So we grabbed an Uber to the hotel.
A gentleman greeted us but as soon as we mentioned no reservation. He completely changed his attitude. It was now after 1am and I was extremely tired, I am 54 with hip issues. My husband explained our dilemma and he was not interested. He huffed and puffed and said there was nothing and dismissed us. My husband asked if we could sit for ten mins just to look at the other hotels. He was extremely blustered and said no he was cleaning up and basically wanted us out. I was feeling very upset at this point. He did say there was a travel lodge nearby but never offered to help us contact them or even suggest helping us ring them. It was utterly disgusting and I am shocked by his lack of empathy. I do hope you're other staff have more empathetic. It was after 2am when luckily we found the travel lodge and got sorted and they were utterly amazing.

Very noisy

Very noisy, bass guitar playing guitar noise early evening ? Not sure if it was from a neighbouring room or from the bar area. Very helpful staff, in particular Toby, helped us to check in and service at the bar from him was very good

Guest fined at hotel in Cardiff

Fined for parking despite filling in their forms. Impossible to contact anyone to get this resolved. Eventually wrote to MD who completely ignored me. Will never ever use Village hotel as a guest or conference organiser again…

Perfect venue for a very special family celebration

We hosted our daughter's weaning ceremony at Village Hotel Newcastle on 13 June 2026, and the experience exceeded our expectations in every way. The staffs were warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making the occasion feel special - nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were well-suited to a family celebration of this nature, with ample space, excellent catering, and a welcoming atmosphere throughout.
From the initial booking through to the day itself, the team were professional and accommodating. Our guests, spanning multiple generations and travelling from various parts of the country, were unanimous in their praise. It made a deeply meaningful cultural milestone feel truly memorable.

Highly recommended for anyone planning a family event or celebration. We will not hesitate to return.

Second Stay This Year

I enjoy The Village Hotel, Blackpool very much and this is my second visit this year and about my 10th overall. It has really got its act together over the past year and a staycation here is both enjoyable and relaxing. Village hotels bring out offers from time to time and it is a good idea to sign up for newsletter. There are some good bargains available.

The hotel is a few miles outside Blackpool and close to the zoo. It is set in acres of grounds that form a golf course. The rooms are respectable in size and most have been refurbished. I was given room 330 this time and it was pleasant. The window opens and there is a fan provided to get the air circulating. The best feature was the bed, which was incredibly comfortable with the softest thick duvet. I particularly liked the very thick mattress topper, which was the deepest and thickest I have ever experienced and I was so very comfortable.

A great feature continues to be the spa and they really have got the right balance with the temperature of the pool and the hot tub. The staff in the spa is young and this brings a buzz to the place. I was particularly impressed by the temperature of the outdoor pool, which was superb on a cool but sunny July afternoon.

The members of the bar staff were efficient and managed the footfall well. You can also eat in the bar restaurant. The breakfast was also very good, with a generous range of items available. The food quality was high and the restaurant operates until 10:30 at weekends. Perhaps the one area that would benefit from attention is the fact that guests were left to fend for themselves after giving their room number. I feel they should be seated and it would be helpful to have the locations and process explained to these perhaps visiting for the first time.

The one thing that needs to change is the way late checkouts are communicated to the cleaning staff. I had a 13:00 check out yet a staff member walked straight into the room at 12:20 without knocking. It appears they had not been made aware that I wasn't due to leave until 13:00.

The Village Hotel, Blackpool is an upper 3* hotel and generally delivers to a high standard in most areas. This reviewer has become quite a fan over the years due to the location, the ambiance and the value.

Worst experience dealing with…

Worst experience dealing with Memberships of any gym or health, fitness in my life at Village hotels Cardiff. Would have given zero stars if it was an option. Council gyms are far more professional.

We stayed at Village Hotel Reading from…

We stayed at Village Hotel Reading from 3–4 May and had a really good experience overall. The room was clean and quite nice, and it was great to have access to the gym and pool as well. Eve at the front desk was absolutely amazing - we had an issue with the booking system, and she went out of her way to make sure we had a room, parking was sorted, and everything else we needed was taken care of. My mother-in-law was in the hospital for an emergency, and Eve helped us manage this stressful situation by making sure we didn’t need to worry about having a room and parking permit. She was fantastic and really helped make a stressful situation feel much easier. Eve’s kindness and service made a big difference to us. We also had a follow-up question the next day, and Dan at the front desk was super helpful in helping us address a parking question and making sure myself and my father-in-law were sorted. Absolutely fantastic service from Eve and Dan - thank you!

Awful customer service!

Awful customer service!! We booked on a saver rate but only noticed the next morning that we had booked the wrong location. We contacted the hotel right away to ask if they could switch the booking to the correct location and they refused to help us so we are £150+ out of pocket. Shameful!!

Avoid, not worth £10 a night let alone £80+

Awful hotel. Imagine paying for an ‘upgrade’ to find you’re not allowed to have central heating in your icy room because the hotel is set on a timer!!
No mini fridge in the ‘upgraded’ room.
15 minutes into our 2 night stay and already wanting to leave! Staff unbothered too.

Why would I bother signing up to…

Why would I bother signing up to membership with a business that is disinterested in my business. If this is the level of service when somebody is trying to sign up to your leisure club I can't begin to consider how shocking your after sales will be.

PARKING SCAM

Be aware when visiting the village hotel in Bracknell.

In my opinion there is a car park scam going on.

I booked via my cooperate team for Bed & Breakfast including parking.

This was paid prior to my visit and when I arrived at the hotel, I entered my details in full including my car registration number.

To my horror I received a car parking charge from some cowboy outfit yesterday, nearly a month later and I immediately contacted the hotel who didn’t care at all and said it’s not there problem even though I paid the hotel for parking and entered my detail including the car registration.

They couldn’t care less, I asked for confirmation of my booking which they confirmed, and said they would send that across via email.

They sent me an email with no confirmation and evidence of my booking as promised and said I would need to deal with this 3rd party directly which I won’t be, my ‘contract’ was with the hotel directly not a third party car park company.

I have not been helped here at all, the hotel clearly do not want to help, they were rude and talked over me, and have done nothing to help whatsoever, I also asked for the managers details and complaints process which unsurprisingly was not for forthcoming either which clearly indicates to me that they are working in collaboration with this parking company to extort cash from their customers.

I am shocked and saddened of the hotels attitude, total lack of support and nothing in response to resolve the situation due to their error and incompetence, it’s a disgrace quite frankly.

The message here is to avoid the hotel as you will be attempted to be scammed on the parking front and not helped when they try the sting.

Stayed in Village hotel Swindon

Stayed in Village hotel Swindon. Room was filthy - poo on toilet seat, clearly no vacuuming had been done and when I complained and had the room cleaned, I returned to find hair on the bed and the same dirt particles on the carpet.
Only positive was how cheap it was but, honestly, I would have paid more for a clean room!
Also, TV didn’t work. No bedside plug sockets as advertised. And shower didn’t work properly.

Village Hotel Restaurant Walsall

Village Hotel Restaurant Walsall
A group of 5 family members planned to eat at the restaurant after 3 of whom, who are gym members had completed their traing and swim. We were really shocked to see that there were no vegan options on the menu at all. There were some vegetarian options but they were still unsuitable for vegans.
The staff were helpful and apologetic. We just found it very strange that a national hotel chain, which obviously markets itself with a health and exercise focus, does not extend the principle to its food menu.
I'm not sure if this is the case throughout all of their restaurants. Very disappointing and non inclusive!
