Absolute scam. After completing a contracted project with Voices.com, delivering 3 hours of scripted audio with professionalism and care. I double-checked every file, and even sent pre-recordings which were approved. Voices confirmed in writing that I was
"good to go" and that payment would be issued within 30-60 days.
After nearly 60 days of silence, they suddenly claimed my recordings did not
"meet requirements". They canceled the agreement without ever offering revisions or providing a single example of an issue. This is called "breach of contract" - anything goes with these scammers to avoid paying the agreed + $400. STAY AWAY! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

After nearly 90 days of silence, they suddenly claimed my recordings did not “meet requirements” and "They've decided they are not looking to source any revisions at this time" and are choosing to move forward with other talents on this project. They canceled the agreement without ever offering revisions or providing a single example of an issue. This is a blatant breach of contract and an attempt to avoid paying the agreed $425.
I'm so critical of myself and my work with everything that I do altogether. I am 100% completely confident that the recordings I sent were acceptable. Shame on them.
Freelancers beware: Voices.com will take your work, drag out the timeline, and then dismiss it with vague excuses to escape payment. If you value your time, integrity, and income, I strongly advise avoiding this platform.

This company has demonstrated clear discriminatory practices, and I strongly recommend that anyone concerned about fairness and equality stay away from it. They have systematically removed all Palestinian voice-over artist profiles, effectively preventing them from working and benefiting from the platform—despite many of these professionals having years of experience, excellent feedback, and strong reputations. This is absolutely shameful and undeniably racist behavior. I am proud to have cut ties with this company as a voice-over artist, doing so with dignity and integrity.
**Response to company's reply:
I am incredibly surprised by your prompt reply, especially considering that I attempted to contact you multiple times via email and Instagram over the past two years—with no response.
The discrimination here clearly revolves around the "location" of the voice actors. The primary victims of this policy are individuals based in Gaza and other Palestinian cities.
I truly appreciate the link you provided, as it further proves my point. I encourage everyone to take a moment to examine that list and compare the location of each profile with their “last hired” status to better understand the issue at hand.
Let me highlight a few critical observations:
1) Some profiles may show recent hiring activity—but they are located in the United States or other regions outside of Palestine.
2) The visibility of a profile doesn’t necessarily indicate it is active—I have confirmation that at least two highly-rated profiles based in Gaza have been suspended and remain so to this day despite still appearing visible in the website.
3) At least three of the profiles listed are for English, French and Spanish speakers only, which raises questions about how they’re considered “active Palestinian profiles.”
4) A significant number of voice actors, including myself, closed our accounts in protest and solidarity with our Palestinian colleagues.
Their stated reason for these suspensions is due to U.S. and Canadian sanctions, a rationale that other U.S based well-known freelancing platforms have not enforced.
Shame... Big shame.

the percentage taken from the initial offer is huge but what can I do

Voices gives voice actors of every level an opportunity to find work. The audition process is easy to navigate. They regularly offer free workshops with helpful info to assist in landing jobs.
My specific experiences with my first two Voices jobs were both streamlined and smooth operations. I look forward to continuing the audition process and building my Voices resume.

The Client Project Manager and the Project Assistant made the experience of getting hired very smooth. Their communication was prompt and detailed. Also, the customer support team has been very responsive and thorough. I enjoy the free monthly group voice coaching sessions and find the voiceover tips shared via email very helpful.
The platform/process could use some streamlining. It gets confusing and difficult to track when certain things, like the agreement, have to be emailed, but other exchanges happen over the "Messages" section of the platform. Also, some jobs require us to "Reply to Job" via the platform, and others require us to do this AND fill out an additional survey. The annual pricing, in addition to the platform cut, is a bit steep.

The twenty-percent platform fee is a hard pill to swallow, for both talent and client. From a talent point-of-view it can result in a smaller payment. I'm sure many have had the experience where they bid on a project and got an offer only to have the client request a lesser bid so they don't go over budget. For example, I auditioned for a VO job that had a budget of $500.00. My bid was that exact amount. Then I get an offer from the client expressing their interest in working with me but can I change my bid to a lower one so as not to go over their budget? Now I have to change my bid to $400.00 or less lest they go with another talent. I have been fortunate in my years of being on the platform but I cannot rely solely on Voices.com as my main source of income. If they insist on a platform fee it would benefit all involved to lower the fee.

I rarely use this site but booked a job only to see how much the platform takes out as a commission. Other sites don't take away from the talent, or they build the fee into the client's payment. I was less than enthusiastic to take on a job that cost me so much in a fee and unfortunately the individual who hired me wasn't able to accoomodate.

Great communication, highly professional team, great working together!

It’s a shame they don’t inform you that you have to spend $499 on a membership before you can see any available offers, and instead collect all your sensitive data first. To me, it seems more like a scam than a legitimate company.

In my opinion, Voices is a great way to get your feet wet in the Voice Over industry, if you can get listened to. However, it is infuriating in many ways. After upgrading to the premium membership, I started receiving a lot of jobs, and auditioning constantly, only to find that those jobs were either abandoned, or completed without being listened to, which makes me feel that my money was very much wasted. I wont say this is the platforms fault, but it seems they don't hold their clients to a standard for listening to their proposals received, and I can truly watch my auditions get tossed into the void without getting a chance. Very disheartening and disappointing.

Voices is today my main source of income. Since I upgraded to a Premium account, I started getting jobs immediately. Definitely worth trying it because it pays off! It gives me a lot of security when dealing with clients, and I've discovered an amazing world in this proffession I've been able to improve thanks to Voices. Thank you!

Took almost nine months before I landed my first gig. Running the numbers, I find that I have an almost 50% client review and out of those 12% short listing. It's a numbers game. This is not a get rich quick schism. You're going to need to market yourself, network, and improve on your product.

Now I am the part of voices.com I've been using Voices.com for over a year now, and it has completely transformed my career in voice-over. The platform is intuitive, the support team is responsive, and the quality of clients is consistently high. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, Voices.com gives you access to a wide variety of projects—from commercials and audiobooks to e-learning and animation.
One of the standout features is the smart audition system, which makes it easy to showcase your skills and get noticed. The project management tools and secure payment system also give peace of mind, especially when working with international clients.
Most importantly, Voices.com values both the talent and the clients equally. I've built long-term relationships with great brands through this platform. If you're serious about voice work, Voices.com is absolutely worth the investment.
Highly recommended!

I landed my first job within just a few weeks of joining the platform, which was exciting! However, I do wish audition access was a bit less restrictive. Since I don’t have the premium membership, I only receive opportunities through private invitations. So far, I’ve been invited to two projects, but I can’t help wondering how many more I’m missing out on simply because I can’t invest in the upgrade right now. That said, I truly love the platform! It’s easy to navigate, beginner-friendly, and has quickly become my favorite place to build my voice acting journey.

I believe that charging an annual fee plus 20% for each job is an abusive surcharge.

I really like the service, and I love my voice actor. I just wish rehiring him over and over again didn't require me to create an audition. I already know he's who I'm hiring, and that could be easier.
