A large claim was dealt with hassle free

We had to put a large claim in for our dog recently and our vets policy is that we have to pay for treatment up front. I was worried that Waggle would refuse the claim and this caused me a great deal of anxiety. However I was very happy when I received an email to say the claim had been fully approved. This happened within 2 weeks and all correspondence was between the vet and Waggle and I did not receive any phone calls from Waggle questioning my decisions, however I do advise that you obtain all the medical notes and invoices from your vet in case you need to provide any information. I was pleased that such a large claim was dealt with quickly and professionally.

When taking out the insurance I do like the option that the insurance policy can be reduced in cost if you sign up for a online triage vet service. I used this triage service when our dog became unwell and I found it incredibly useful because she confirmed that we needed to take our dog to the vet immediately.

Failed pre-approval.

They turned the claim down, but did so very clearly so we could understand exactly why they did so (it was because the condition had been mentioned by our vet before we took the policy out). They gave us all the information they had received from our vet, all of which was accurate but much of which we hadn’t been told, to explain why they weren’t willing to to pre-approve the claim.

have made my first claim for my 15…

I have made my first claim for my 15 year old cat after having had to take her to an out of hour emergency vet, because she suffered from sudden blindness . It took a lot longer than expected for that initial claim to be processed and approved . I have however no complains with the processing of subsequent claims for the follow up treatment my cat now requires

Good intentions- clunky platform

The platform is relatively user friendly, while one frustration is the need each time to answer a series of questions for which you should simply store the answers.

In also find it mind boggling that following each claim, I need to also answer whether my dog died. I’ve just claimed for meds, and so how would that work.

So the approach and intention toward easy claim and rapid settlement is positive, while the execution remains clunky.

Claim waiting time.

Waggle were waiting for information from emergency vet I had to use, and did not chase them up. It was left for me to do, when I asked for an update on my claim.i sent all of the requested information to them then they decided that the wanted my dog medical history from birth. It is just one obstacle after another.

Dear Michael,

Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we're sorry to hear about your experience.

We understand how frustrating it can be when you're waiting for a claim decision, especially after an emergency visit. We can confirm that we did contact your emergency veterinary practice to request the information needed to assess your claim. Unfortunately, if we don't receive the records we need, we may also ask policyholders to help obtain them, as this can sometimes speed up the process.

We're sorry for the inconvenience this caused and appreciate that it may have felt like there were multiple requests. In some cases, we also need a pet's full clinical history to ensure we can assess the claim accurately and fairly in line with the policy terms.

Thank you for your patience and we appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback.

Policy fees increase 45%

We are currently paying £33.78 per month for our 7‑year‑old British Shorthair Blue cat, with £4,000 cover and £0 excess. After 12 months with zero claims, the premium has jumped to £49.27 per month.

The only explanation given is that our cat has turned eight years old — a 45% increase with no supporting figures or justification. It feels as though the company’s internal policy is simply to push older pets out through excessive pricing.

So much for rewarding customer loyalty. Goodbye, Waggel — don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Dear Michael,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're really sorry to hear how disappointed you are with your renewal, especially after a claim-free year.

We understand that a significant increase can be frustrating. While a pet's age is one of several factors that can influence the cost of insurance at renewal, it's not the only one. Renewals also take into account wider changes in veterinary treatment costs and other factors that affect the overall cost of providing cover.

We appreciate that this doesn't make the increase any less disappointing, and we're sorry that we've left you feeling that your loyalty hasn't been recognised.

If you're open to it, we'd really like the opportunity to review your renewal with you and explain the factors that have contributed to your premium. Please get in touch with our Customer Care team at hello@waggel.co.uk, and we'll be happy to take a closer look.

Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you and your pet all the very best.

Pre-Authorisation for dental treatment

My dog requires a scale and polish. Received an estimate from the Vets and submitted a pre-authorisation claim online. Easy to complete. Provided a brief history of previous dental check-ups. The following day received authorisation to go ahead with the treatment.
Treatment still to happen, so have yet still to claim reimbursement, but the first part of the process was straightforward enough.

Resolved eventually, but far more difficult than it should have been

I'm pleased that Waggel ultimately upheld my complaint and overturned the original decision after contacting my veterinary practice directly. However, this only happened after I had to go through the formal complaints process. The initial claim decision was based solely on incomplete veterinary notes, despite routine examinations having been carried out. I appreciate that the complaints team investigated thoroughly and reached the right outcome, but I feel this could have been resolved much earlier without the need for a formal complaint.

Dear Allan,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're pleased that, following a full review, we were able to overturn the original decision and reach the right outcome for your claim.

We're sorry that this wasn't resolved sooner and appreciate how frustrating it must have been to go through the complaints process. While we sometimes need to obtain additional clarification from a treating vet before we can make the correct decision, we recognise that this can be disappointing when it delays the outcome.

We're glad our Complaints Team was able to investigate thoroughly and put things right. Your feedback is valuable and helps us continue to improve our claims process. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention, and we wish you and your pet all the best.

I put in a claim for my dog and they refused payout 3 weeks after waiting. They used any excuse not to pay out. The service is shocking. Would definitely not recommend.
