Misleading policy - most expensive component not paid for

First time claiming from Warranty Assist under the 'Gold' policy. Experienced a drive system failure resulting in a bill of around £700. As the car was fully serviced and the fault was "sudden and unexpected" (not general wear and tear), I expected the bill to be paid without quibble. However, only £160 was offered and this did not include the nearly £300 for the most expensive component. This was on the basis that the flange extension shaft was not covered specifically, despite the policy stating "shafts, (all, including all extension shafts)" are covered. I have had to pay the garage in full to get my car back. I am now in the complaints process. I would not recommend Warranty Assist unless you like to be disappointed.

Dear Christopher,

RE: Approved claim, Non listed component , Not sudden

Thank you for your review. It is important to understand no warranty covers parts not listed.

After 45 days on cover you reported a claim for a noisy driveshaft and flange replacement.

Flanges are not listed on your policy.

We used our discretin to cover your driveshaft replacement even though you reported “ the noise had worsened “ pointing to an ongoing issue.

We must adhere to the terms and conditions of your policy, it is not fair and equitable to other members to cover non listed or excluded parts as they must pay through increased premiums.

A manager will be in touch to discuss your case.

Very personable team

Warranty Assist should provide documentation to its end customers, beyond the car dealerships. I found myself having to pay 50% of a bill that really should have been fully covered. I was fortunate to get the 50% payment thanks to Thornton in repairs presenting my case - very grateful that he was proactive in doing this. Then Dane W came along to offer further payment after understanding my case and my frustrations at the use of T&C’s to escape payment.

I want to reiterate the help and guidance provided by both Dane & Thornton was first class - both are an asset to the company. Without these two I would have submitted a 1 star review.

£570 paid <12 months, no cover, no help. Scam company.

Was sold warranty from dealer, paid £570 for Gold cover, was sold a car with full service history and MOT, car stopped working- no offer of recovery. Although does state in policy they can offer a recovery service and they pay upto £120. Did not offer and paid nothing to cover. Then told was not serviced in year car was bought, ( only just flagged as serviced due in 29 days on vehicle). Both warranty assist rejected claim. No money, no help from expensive warranty and no car. AVOID!!!

Dear Lisa,

RE: Insufficient service history.

Thank you for your review. It is important for readers to understand that no warranty covers vehicles which have not been maintained, which leads to expensive and avoidable repairs.

You logged a claim on your 12 year old Hyundai Santa Fe for the battery warning light.

It transpires the vehicle has not been serviced at the correct manufacturers intervals for multiple years before coming onto cover.

No warranty can cover vehicles which have not been maintained as this is unfair to existing members resulting in increased premiums.

A manager has already been in touch with you to discuss this.

I bought a used car off autotrader and car came with warranty with warranty Assist so thought this would give me confidence in buying a used car. However after one week the engine light come on and took car to garage. Was advised by garage that there were issues with turbo and fuel pump and was quoted £2,580. Discussed with warranty and sent a third party for assessment and report. this was carried out and waited over a week for report and then was informed they will not cover any of the cost as the damage was due to previous poor repair. Only having the car 1 week this was not my poor repair it was from previous owner. This company does not advocate for there customers and i am now being penalised for previous owner and having to pay the garage costs.

Dear bill bill/ Debbie,

RE: Pre existing fault, faulty workmanship

Thank you for your review. It is important for readers to understand that no warranty can cover pre existing faults or failures cause by prior faulty workmanship.

6 days after the warranty for your 8 year old Ford Kuga began, you reported an issue with your turbo charger.

You then advised you were not wanting to proceed with the claim and were taking the vehicle back to the selling dealer.

Subsequently after initiating the first claim you returned to us after you had taken the vehicle to your chosen garage who stated after they removed the turbo charger, they found the fuel pump plug had been superglued and had broken apart almost certainly leading to the issue on the turbo due to swarf.

The car was inspected by an independent garage who founds advised the loss of power was due to a replacement turbo charger (pre dating the warranty) which caused the solenoid to burn out, The technician also noted there is an issue relating to the fuel pump, as the pump connector was glued together prior to the warranty, this is clearly a poor previous repair.

These findings confirm the issues result from faulty workmanship pre dating the warranty, rather than a sudden mechanical failure.

No warranty covers pre existing faults or faults due to faulty workmanship.

A manager will be in touch to discuss your comments.

Great Service!

We’ve been using Warranty Assist for our dealership and the service has been excellent from day one. They react quickly to any issues that come up and always do their best to help resolve them as smoothly as possible. Their communication is spot-on, and you can tell they genuinely care about supporting both the dealer and the customer.

A special mention to Mike, who is the person I normally deal with — he’s always helpful, efficient, and makes the whole process easy. Really appreciate the support.

Highly recommend Warranty Assist to anyone looking for a reliable and responsive warranty company.

## **Warning stay away from this manipulative company. They are just after taking your money without offering support

## **Warning: Avoid Warranty Assist – Five Months of Stress, Delays, and Misleading Information**

The dealership I bought my car from encouraged me to sign up for Warranty Assit: 3-Year Gold Plan (paid in full)**

I’m sharing my experience so others don’t fall victim to what I’ve been put through. What should have been a simple warranty claim turned into **five months of stress, misinformation, repeated delays, and questionable behaviour** from Warranty Assist.

### **1. Ignored Diagnoses & Repeated Delays**

I reported a **gearbox warning/limp mode** on **11 July 2025**. Warranty Assist constantly pushed back on diagnostics, then told me to seek my own at a VAT-registered garage — only to dismiss the report later.
Across five months I had **more that four independent diagnostics**, all confirming the same gearbox fault. The only garage that *missed* it was the one Warranty Assist initially sent me to.

### **2. Claims Wrongly Declined Despite Clear Policy Coverage**

**engine cooling fan fault**, which is **clearly covered** in the very first paragraph of Warranty Assist’s Gold Plan booklet. Warranty Assist still declined it.
Only after multiple calls and emotional distress did they reluctantly reopen the claim.

### **3. Miscommunication, Contradictory Updates & Unprofessional Behaviour**

Throughout the process:

* Staff failed to call back as promised
* I was given **conflicting information**
* Garages told me Warranty Assist were giving them **incorrect updates**
* Quotes changed without explanation
* A call handler even **raised his voice** when I questioned discrepancies

The lack of professionalism was shocking.

### **4. Forced to Pay for Gearbox Strip-Down**

Even after Warranty Assist’s own inspector confirmed a transmission issue, they insisted I pay for a gearbox strip-down “at my own risk”.
When the garage sent the results (including photos) on **28 October**, Warranty Assist claimed they hadn't received anything until I personally re-sent them from my phone.

### **5. The Fastest Decision They Ever Made Was… Declining the Claim**

Within **seconds** of receiving the photos from me — while still on the phone — I received an email saying my claim was **declined**.
The case handler even admitted he *had not* spoken to the garage as he was supposed to.
After more than four months of delays, suddenly Warranty Assist could make an instant decision when it meant refusing responsibility.

### **6. Covered Components Were Still Denied**

Under the Gold Plan, parts like:

* Clutches
* Modulator valves
* Actuators
* Flywheels and drive plates
* Cooling fans

…are all listed as covered.
Multiple garages confirmed this. Warranty Assist still refused the claim.

### **7. The Impact on Me**

For nearly five months:

* My car was unsafe or undriveable
* I kept paying finance
* I paid for diagnostics only because Warranty Assist demanded them
* My wellbeing and mental health suffered

This was my **first ever claim** after buying the most expensive plan — and it turned into a nightmare.

---

## **Bottom Line**

Warranty Assist’s behaviour — repeated delays, refusal to acknowledge evidence, contradictory reasoning, and sudden decisions when declining claims — has destroyed my trust in them.

I’m sharing this review so others know what they may be walking into.
If you value transparency, fairness, and proper customer service, **look elsewhere for warranty coverage**.

Note: Warranty assist, motor angel and motoreasy are all the same company with different compolauge names. stay away from them, safe your money for your own repair and don’t pay these companies who just need your money.

I would avoid this company for your warranty service. My car broken after I bought the car from main dealer with £2000 plus for warranty itself only. I had the car for 5 months and I was covered for 2 years since I paid that extra £2000 for the warranty and I contacted warranty assist and told them my situation which was 2 of the cylinders wasn't working. After so many calls and emails they have decided they weren't going to pay even though it was covered.

Dear Habtom,

Re: Carbon build up excluded by warranty.

Thank you for you review on your 9 year old Nissan Qashqai.

We do investigate early faults like this when a customer has owned the car for such a long time and in this instance, we paid for an independent engineer to inspect the car.

After receiving the independent engineers report and assessing the photos of the pistons, we declined the claim according to the terms and conditions the piston failures are due to carbon build up which is excluded by any warranty.

No warranty can cover faults that were caused due to excessive carbon build up as doing so would be unfair to other customers.

Happy with Customer Success team handling of my case

I am writing this review to express my appreciation for the support I received from Dane Walters within the Warranty Assist team.

I experienced an issue with a recent claim which was initially declined. Following my complaint, Dane contacted me and resolved the matter to my satisfaction.

As a gesture of good will, the company has agreed to cover the cost of the repair. I am grateful for this positive outcome.

Thank you, Dane, for your efforts.
