We recently purchased a two-year-old…
We recently purchased a two-year-old car and were surprised to find that the keyless fob battery had failed. When we tried the spare fob, that did not work either.
I contacted Kia Bristol Wessex Garage and was told this issue is not covered under warranty. I find this very disappointing, as I would have expected both fobs to be checked and working at the point of sale, and for a better level of service in response.
I asked them to confirm why this was not addressed during the pre-delivery inspection, and what steps will be taken to resolve this matter? They said they did but clearly did not.
Stress free experience with Kia service…
Stress free experience with Kia service centre! Following a breakdown of my vehicle due to a 12v power loss (battery fault) I was dealt with by Clair who managed to be friendly and professional! Kept me informed throughout the whole experience! Well done Clair thanks for taking out the stress!
Poor customer service and issue with a service
A recent service completed by the garage has resulted in the vehicle having an ignition issue. This was told to me by another local Kia garage (who I had to seek advice from because Bristol Wessex could not see me in anything that resembled reasonable time). Since trying to explain this situation to them nobody has got back in touch with me. I feel completely ignored and extremely frustrated that they dont appear to take accountability for a problem that are likely to have caused.
. Excellent service
Excellent, prompt service. Claire on reception was very warm & friendly.
Rush was great
Rush was great. He got me a great deal on part exchanging a vehicle. He was extremely polite and professional.
He went above and beyond and even set up the system in the new car for me and connected my iPhone to it.
I am a returning Kia customer and I always find the staff helpful but I must say Rush was by far the best. Highly recommend Kia and Rush.

Deeply Disappointed – First-Time Car Owner Left Without Support or Accountability
As a first-time car owner who got my vehicle through Cinch, I was genuinely excited and proud to have my own car — a big milestone for me. When Cinch referred me to Wessex Garages Nissan Gloucester for an ADAS repair, I never imagined the experience would leave me feeling so completely let down, frustrated, and disheartened.
From the moment I arrived at Wessex Garages Nissan Gloucester, the treatment was cold and dismissive. I was told there was no appointment for me in the system and spoken to with a tone that made me feel like I didn’t belong — especially compared to how warmly other “new” customers were being greeted. I began to question whether this treatment was because I came via Cinch and wasn’t buying a new car directly — or even because I’m a woman, unfamiliar with how garages work and simply trusting them to do the right thing.
When I returned for my rearranged appointment, I completed all the paperwork and left my car with them. The treatment this time was no better — just the same dismissive attitude but from a different member of staff. They kept insisting that I would need to pay for the repairs myself because, according to them, Cinch wouldn’t cover the cost. I showed them written proof from Cinch confirming that the repair would be fully covered under my warranty, but they still pushed back, saying they wouldn’t accept the repair unless I agreed to pay at the end. Feeling pressured and frustrated, I signed the documents stating so — only because I was confident Cinch would honour the warranty, which they thankfully did in the end.
After picking the car up, I discovered that the SD card — which runs my navigation system — had mysteriously vanished. My navigation had worked perfectly before, and now the system showed an error. I immediately tried to contact the garage, but they didn’t answer the phone for days. Initially, I thought it might be because it was the weekend — but I later found out that they do work weekends, which only made the silence more frustrating.
I even contacted Cinch, who said all they could do was message the garage to call me back — which, of course, never happened. Eventually, I got through to someone at the garage who promised to follow up — but no one ever did. I had to chase them again, only to be told they “didn’t remove the SD card” and that there was nothing they could do. No accountability, no investigation — just denial and dismissal.
What makes this worse is that I clearly must have appeared like an easy target — a young, first-time car owner, trusting the process, not knowing how garages work. It honestly feels like the SD card was removed from my car and they thought I wouldn’t notice or couldn’t do anything about it. And now I’m left with no SD card, no working navigation system, and zero support from Nissan or Wessex Garages.
This entire experience has left me with a sour taste not only for Wessex Garages, but for the Nissan brand and car servicing in general. I now feel completely hopeless about taking my car to any garage in the future — constantly worried I’ll be dismissed, ignored, or taken advantage of again. What should have been a proud and exciting journey with my first car has turned into one filled with stress, mistrust, and disappointment.
I hope others — especially first-time drivers or those referred by third parties — take this as a warning to be cautious and to document everything. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.
After going through all of this, I decided to read through other reviews of Nissan UK — and sadly, I now realise my experience isn’t an isolated one. It’s extremely disheartening to see that others have also faced poor treatment, lack of accountability, and inadequate customer support.
As someone who was excited to be a first-time Nissan owner, this experience has completely shattered my confidence in the brand. I never expected to feel so dismissed and unsupported. What should have been a positive and proud milestone has instead made me anxious about ever trusting a dealership or service centre again.
Ignored the problem we wanted fixed
Brought our car in to get a specific fuel problem resolved; received a ridiculously long list of unrelated problems to fix with no mention of the fuel issue. We spent 3 days trying to get them to look at it properly, provided a video of the fuel leak , communication was awful and they kept trying to foist replacement parts on us before admitting they hadn’t found the problem and had no idea what to fix. Took it to another garage who found the issue and showed us immediately. Wouldn’t trust them with a vehicle again, it was all about expensive parts and ignoring anything we actually asked for.
Big thank you
I’m not easily impressed, but I have to say that Wessex Kia Newport has truly exceeded my expectations. This is largely thanks to the exceptional service from Jed Powell, who has been outstanding from start to finish.
From our first conversation to the moment I picked up my new Kia EV6, Jed has been professional, attentive, and incredibly supportive. He kept me informed every step of the way, ensured I got a fantastic deal, and made the entire process seamless. His dedication made me feel genuinely valued as a customer.
A huge thank you to Jed and the entire Wessex Kia Newport team—it’s a great feeling to finally have my EV6
Shambolic service. AVOID!
Shambolic service from Wessex Nissan at Hadfield road, Cardiff.

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Wessex Garages Gloucester
I had a deeply frustrating experience with Wessex Garages in Gloucester. I took my car in for an issue related to the Engine Management Light (EML), expecting a thorough investigation and resolution. Unfortunately, what followed was 8 and a half weeks of absolute frustration and lack of clarity. Despite this long period, they were unable to provide any evidence of the work done or even a basic breakdown of the diagnostics or repairs carried out.
Communication was appalling—there was zero proactive contact from the garage, and I was forced to chase them repeatedly for updates. I was met with rude and dismissive staff who seemed completely uninterested in giving me any explanation. Their incompetence was glaring, and it left me questioning their professionalism and capabilities.
If you're looking for a garage you can rely on for quality service and transparency, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. My experience was nothing short of a nightmare.
Threatening and unprofessional sales tactics by manager Brandon
Unfortunately most of our experience this time with Wessex Nissan was not as positive as it has been in the past. It started by recieving multiple call enquiries from Nissan representatives all asking the same, what we wish to do as we approach the end of our current PCP, my answer was the same each time that I wanted a quote for another PCP, a few weeks would pass and I would have another call asking the same question, clearly there was no continuity or communication. It took several calls and requests for a quote until finally I spoke to Tom Bird who actually actioned my request and supplied a quote. Which I'm pleased to say was a positive as he got back to me promptly. We made a decision to buy another Leaf (a car we are very pleased with), we paid the deposit and signed the order form saying it would be approximately 3 weeks before we were in a position to finalise and collect the car which was dependent on our current car being handed back to the finance company. 2 weeks later I received a phone call from Brandon mid-afternoon saying that I needed to collect my car the following day. I found this incredibly unprofessional, intimidating, and upsetting! I explained the conversation I had had on ordering the car and said that I was still waiting for the Nissan finance company to confirm the collection date of the previous vehicle. At no point on ordering was it explained that I needed to finalise and collect the new car before the end of Jan and so I pushed back explaining this. Again Brandon continued with his aggressive and bullying tactics, threatening me that unless I agreed to take collection of the new car the following day he would be forced to sell my car to someone else, he tried to push me into agreeing so that (presumably) they would reach an end of month target. When I refused, Brandon said he would need to speak to his regional team and get back to me. I didn't hear another thing! I was left not knowing if my car was being resold to someone else. I spent 2 hours chasing the Nissan finance company and as soon as I received the collection date I contacted Nissan and spoke to Tom, who was friendly and polite, with no mention of what had been threatened by Brandon and the collection was arranged at our convenience for 2 weeks later. Clearly once we had passed the 31st Jan deadline there was no longer any pressure to finalise and collect. I collected the vehicle today from Tom and Keith who were both friendly and professional and they are the only reason I have given one star rather than ZERO.
Absolutely shocking service when my car…
Absolutely shocking service when my car was recovered to Nissan Cribbs Causeway. Rude unhelpful staff and 14 days to replace a battery and thermostat housing under warranty. Rang the service department for updates and was told a different story every time and when i tried to get some detail of what was actually being done i was told it was going in the workshop for testing implying the car was nearing completion. Eventually after 14 days recieved an email late afternoon to say all work had been completed and the car was just being washed and valeted, suprise suprise the car was filthy on arrival and had not been cleaned inside and out. Sort of sums the whole operation up really. My advice is dont buy from them at any cost as their aftersales is abysmal to say the least.
Warranty not worth the paper it's written on
I bought a used car from Wessex in 2023. For peace of mind, I took out a 36-month Wessex Care Guarantee Premier Warranty. After 8,000 miles, the car developed a knocking sound on the driver's side. I took it to Wessex Newport, where I waited 4 hours for them to diagnose the issue. I was then sent a video and told that the Front Top Mounts needed replacing at an out-of-pocket cost of £499, as it was not covered under the warranty, which cost me £599. I feel I was mis-sold the warranty as I was led to believe the guarantee was a Wessex Garages exclusive guarantee, not an insurance company.
Wessex Garage Newport/ Kia/ Jed Powell
Hi I am just finishing the process of buying a new Kia Sportage Shadow from Wessex Garages based in Newport Gwent.
I cannot prize the customer service we are receiving from Jed Powell. From the moment we stepped into the showroom Jed was amazing. His knowledge of the model we favored and options available to us to purchase the vehicle were nothing short of excellent.
We had previously visited a main Kia dealer and I have to say the customer service and knowledge of the model we were interested in buying was somewhat limited!
Jed has kept us informed regarding delivery and the next steps we need to take to complete the purchase while sending a video of the car as it arrived at the garage which I felt was over and above his call of Duty.
So thanks Jed and I hope this review helps others to receive your excellent customer service and product knowledge.
Poor customer service
Poor customer service, to be told he’s only a temp by a manager. Never will I return, nothing but problems since buying car off them, stay clear if you don’t want disappointment.
Very poor customer service Wessex Nissan Newport.
Very poor customer service. I made enquires about a Motability Car for my disabled brother in law.
I checked with two members of staff at Wessex Nissan Newport if they had a Nissan Juke car to test drive. They said they did, so I completed the online booking for a test drive. I received a confirmation telephone call.
I therefore made arrangements to travel from Hereford to Newport. I then had to arrange a driving carer to convey my brother in law to Newport. Shortly after Aaron from Nissan telephoned to say the test car was no longer available and was with a service customer for a further 3 days.
Aaron defended the online booking system used by Wessex, stating it worked…obviously not. He was less than remorseful.
I contacted Nissan UK. They pointed out that Wessex Nissan was a franchise , they had no control of how Wessex operate.
This is a short sited approach of Nissan, as Wessex are ambassadors for there cars. As there are many car dealerships in the same area, we attended Wessex Nissan in person, and spoke with Aaron in person. He was still less than apologetic.
What struck me, was the fact there were 12 Nissan Jukes on the forecourt.
My brother in law now has a Mazda 2 on order for 2 weeks time.
What an amazing customer service from…

Excellent Service
Excellent service when taking my car in for its 2 year Service. All staff were very friendly and courteous. The video review was also very helpful and made the experience worthwhile. Thank You so much,
Full 10/10 Marks.
BE AWARE OF THEIR SALE TACTICS
I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with the sales and marketing team at Wessex Garages Nissan Gloucester. The level of false advertising and incompetence I encountered was appalling.
Firstly, they advertised a Nissan Qashqai Acenta with a nil advance payment, which was the main reason I contacted them. However, after numerous follow-ups, I was informed that this offer was never available. This kind of bait-and-switch tactic is not only misleading but downright unethical. It appears that they engage in such practices solely to attract potential customers under false pretenses.
Furthermore, the customer service was abysmal. The team was unresponsive, and when they did reply, their answers were vague and unhelpful. They seemed more interested in pushing other, less favorable deals rather than addressing my original inquiry.
This experience has left me feeling frustrated and mistrustful of their business practices. I strongly advise potential customers to be wary of the promises made by this dealership. Trust and transparency are crucial in customer relationships, and unfortunately, Wessex Garages has failed miserably on both counts.
