The worst customer service and banking experience I have ever encountered over several years of naming with Westpac, personally and business related.
Rude staff online and in store.
Not worth considering as your bank!

Rang to make an appointment for a home…

Rang to make an appointment for a home loan. Was on hold for over half n hour before giving up. The next day I got through and made an appointment for a phone interview for the following day. The loan manager never rang me on the due time, I had to ring again. When I finally got through, AGAIN, I was able to have a loan interview with someone other than the original manager. I was declined my home loan despite having half the house equity available and kiwisaver money and tenants to help pay for a mortgage. Terrible service, will be transferring my business to another bank.

Applied for a credit card online

Applied for a credit card online - then had to have a 30min phone call with a banking consultant that asked ALOT of personal questions as part of the application I had to describe myself, what I get up to in my spare time, hobbies, family life, partner, where I want to be/do in the future and how I am planning to get there etc. .. my credit check was approved after providing a full asset list and work details etc but i am still being requested to submit further information e.g IRD tax summaries, questions about my transactions in personal everyday accounts, list goes on .. what will happen next? a request to join my FB account? .. never experienced this with any other bank in NZ.

I have been with a few banks and can honestly say westpac is a disgrace. I have had my account defrauded so many times their security is a joke it takes them so long to look at it 45 days or more. They rejected my last claim where money was paid to oshi casino with out my authority i even have screenshots of the chat with oshi casino which i sent screen shots of my
bank statement showing the transactions oshi said they can see i have not deposited any money into my account on their casino and can not tell whos oshi account the money went to. When you withdraw or make a purchase this should appear on your statement in the order on the day the transactions were made. Not with westpac they are all over the place i have checked my account on a Saturday and found that 2 days into the future on Monday a transaction was made !!!!! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE. Also i went to the atm to withdraw $500 which said i reached my daily limit when i had not used my account at all that day it did not give me my money and i have a receipt to prove it, however i checked my account it showed the $500 was withdrawn. Once again had to chase it up with this joke of a bank which takes foreve. Lucky i had the reciept or they would of ripped me off. I would not trust this bank for a second with your money it would be safer to stack your cash on your front fence and leave it there than in this bank. WESTPAC IS THE WORST BANK IN THE WORLD. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE WESTPAC IS INCOMPETENT A REAL JOKE. I am closing my account with them had to give the 1 star to write this review but its should be minus infinity.

WESTPAC.....CORPORATE BULLIES
Deposited cash Monday 3pm at atm
ATM JAMMED & took Deposit without any confirmation at otahuhu
Otahuhu branch closes at 2pm Monday & reopens Wednesday 10am
Went to branch on the Wednesday and won’t bore u with the “no customer service” story but left 90 mins later with manager promising to call following day.
I explained the urgency of the $1000 deposit as my account had no funds available and I needed to eat and also make an urgent payment.
Thursday phoned manager 4 times as never heard from her as promised, left message and contact details and also text messaged her. At 5.30 pm wed still had heard nothing so I then called 0800 number & asked for senior manager after being on hold for approximately 30 mins and was simply told that they could not assist as otahuhu manager was dealing with the matter
I explained I had no available funds and really needed some money urgently just to simply eat. STILL WAS NOT INTERESTED & a smart ass with it . Well u guessed it...... I lost it and he simply hung up on me.
So tomorrow being Friday m I am sure WESTPAC will turn this whole experience around on me for over reacting and getting angry as I was hungry and filled with broken promises and NO contact or assistance a d they have my cash that I can not access.
I knew going into this experience this week to WESTPAC has NO customer service as I have had a similar experience prior with a business account where they took $4700 without authorisation and this took 10 months to get that back without a simple explanation or apology.
I’m not looking forward to this weekend as more than likely it will be without any surplus money or food.
U can only imagine how this makes someone feel when the WESTPAC CORPORATE BULLIES are out to play.
I feel like u am at rock bottom right now as they have continually sucked all the life out of me.

Absolutely terrible

Absolutely terrible. I’m actually disgusted with how they’re responded to my girlfriend, the love of my life. She even paid for an extra fee so she could have her card delivered to her in 2 days. It’s been a week and a half the cards still not here. Please don’t go here. The lady that works here’s a b****. To all the employees please get laid.

Wanted to open a shared account with…

Wanted to open a shared account with westpac and they said it does not meet the criteria. They have to have salary coming in. I cant have an account where my partner and I put money in. I don't get why not. Would not recommend Westpac to anyone.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Very hard to speak to a human being and the automation of services has turned this once decent bank into a continuing disappointment. Branch hours in Wellington are so restricted I have to make special arrangements when my kids need to go there to sort out account issues. No consideration for families- take your family banking somewhere else. I hate this bank.

My Westpac app on my mobile phone kept telling me I was $58 in arrears on one of my credit cards. so I paid the $58 dollars there and then. so its been over 3 weeks since I paid that and its still telling me I owe $58 dollars. but when I go to payment arrangement its telling me my account is up to date. This annoys me because I need to know where I am with my banking

Been with westpac about 7 years really poor customer service has been the general theme all the way through. sorting anything out over the phone is a hassle. Their apps are crap. can't vist a branch without driving 1hour each direction because they closed our local brach. They are easy to get home loans with but I really question if its worth it

Worst bank if you want to put your money on a bank never go to this bank you can’t trust them they dont know how to protect your money and at the same time they don’t have answer about what happening to your bank account why you get balance out of no where . And now they just keep you charging your balance without even helping you about the problem.

Time wasted I can't afford

They took my card as it had expired, now surely a decent bank would send you a new card prior to the one you have expiring. This was on a Sunday so thanks for nothing. Then I go to a branch and the line is so long it looks like an hour wait, so I ring the help line and there's a 25 minutes wait.
I guess customers time is not important. I find this service to be pretty useless and will be removing my funds once ican be bothered wasting a huge amount of time just to be served. Hopeless!!!
