As someone who has poor mobility and…

As someone who has poor mobility and uses a walking frame my room allocation for my treatments was up a flight of three steps with no bannister rail and down a dimly lit narrow corridor with candles on the floor. I had to haul myself up and down the steps the best I could. The staff did their best to assist me but they should not have needed to as I should not have had to clamber up steps to begin with. My friend and most other people being able bodied from what I could see had easily accessible rooms. I felt the package on a Virgin deal was a tad overpriced. We paid about £187.00 for lunch plus two treatments of 110 minutes total. I did not go near the pool as I could not see anyone there who would be have been able to assist me in. There was one disabled changing room which was perfectly adequate and appeared a good start to the day. Lunch was also quite enjoyable. My overall feeling was that this place just isn’t used to dealing with people who have a physical disability as a lot of their clientele appeared to know their way around and were the keeping fit types,

What a great place to stay.

What a great place to stay. Friendly staff. Great amenities. We started with full use of the spa facilities. One of the best spas we have been to. Everyone is relaxed walking around in their robes whether its to go for a treatment, go for food, or go for drink. You just wonder without having to worry about constantly getting changed to go to other areas. We had lunch in the spa which was great and then a three course meal at night which was great. The staff were all very professional and our waitress Mia was attentive professional and very friendly. The hotel room had everything we needed and was very night in a lovely setting. If I was to have any small complaint it would be that the TV in the room was too small for the room. Not a major issue for as little as we used it. And there was no Air-con. We did have a fan which was fine when we stayed but had we been during the hotter weather this may have been an issue. Other than that we would definitely go back.

Deeply disappointing stay

Deeply disappointing stay

The hotel looks and feels tired, and the rooms we were given were a far cry from those advertised on the website.

We arrived at around 10:30pm after attending a wedding at another venue. Only when checking in were we told that our room was in “the Paddocks”, around a five-minute walk from the main building with our bags.

We had planned to order room service, but were effectively told this was not possible because the hotel had a large wedding taking place and only one person was covering reception.

The accommodation block was scruffy and our first room had a strong smell of fumes. It was also extremely small, poorly furnished and uncomfortably hot. Reception moved us to another room, but this was also tired and excessively hot.

The basic facilities were equally poor. Despite there being a fridge, the bottled water had been left on the side and was warm. The drinks tray was wedged inside a wardrobe with no electrical socket and could not be removed, so I had to take everything out individually. There were no spoons, and the following morning there was no hot water despite running the shower for several minutes.

We decided to leave without having the breakfast included in our booking. When I tried to complain at reception, the member of staff was completely unhelpful and could not even explain how to make a formal complaint.

This was not one minor issue but a catalogue of basic service and maintenance failures. The room, facilities and customer service were significantly below what the hotel advertises and what we had paid for. I have submitted a formal complaint and requested a full refund.

Great place a little let down by small details

Oh arrival looks great, then you look closer and it’s the little things that count. Restaurant staff lovely friendly and helpful, food nice in the Restaurant, staff in the lounge area a little to relaxed, taking a child behind the bar not acceptable (health and safety. Rooms first impressions lovely but need updating ie. Plugs near the bed USB ports. separate shower in bathrooms.
When planning a coach trip for guests, a member of staff should accompany the trip not leave it to the coach driver or guests to manage who is on board for return, should you have an accident the driver has no idea how many passengers he has on board.
And as for the billing! Well you must be loosing thousands!!
I would love to get in there to give guidance on how to look at the little things that need addressing.
It’s a shame cause it could be amazing

Stayed there for a golf weekend as part…first and last time.

Stayed there for a golf weekend as part of a regular yearly society, it was our first and now last visit to Whittlebury Hall. There were errors with our booking (party of 20), the hotel were very unaccommodating in seeking to resolve this, allocated room was very hot, no AC, no working TV, no one to help resolve issues. Evening food was okay after a very long wait, though the service was surly across the hotel. Would not recommend staying here as part of any large group. The two nine hole golf courses that were open were okay and worth playing. Hotel and staff a different matter, would not recommend a stay.

my partner and I stayed at Whittlebury…

my partner and I stayed at Whittlebury over the bank holiday with the spar
We also upgraded the room
What was bad the pool area towels left on sun loungers when clients went for lunch so no availability to sit near pool
We had the 2pm sitting for lunch and it was like having leftovers with not much selection left Did complain but fell on deaf ears
The spa went to locker and no robe or towel went to reception and told there was definitely one there but why would I go and complain so made to feel uncomfortable in front of other guests when in spa it was very busy and some facilities not working
The room ripped drapes stained carpet around coffee/tea making facilities lack of sockets room very tired
The good points some staff we polite food at evening meal was good
I personally would not waste my money going to this place and even after making a complaint nothing got sorted just offered a cup of tea
I definitely would not stay here again

Family time

We recently stayed at Whittlebury Park in a a suite and a triple club room. The front-of-house staff, Aston restaurant and Silverstone bar staff were amazing from the moment we arrived—kind, friendly, and truly felt that nothing was too much trouble.
A massive shout-out to the chef and team at the Astons restaurant! They went above and beyond for my children, timing their food perfectly so they could get in one last round of golf. It meant their meal was as fresh as could be when they finished. We felt the resort was a very safe environment, which gave the kids a lot of freedom and made for a relaxing weekend.
Housekeeping also deserves a huge thank you—you do an amazing job and the rooms were spot on.
The only downside was the spa. We found the staff there less attentive, and the open changing rooms weren't for us. While we wouldn't rush back for the spa, we would absolutely return for the hotel and golf experience. Thank you for a great family getaway!

Leisure club membership

This review is about the leisure club which is open to members. The gym area itself is probably ok but we don't use it much. The pool would be ok but not for doing lengths as fitness members might want - there are no lanes marked for that. The real issue is the fitness classes. These are regularly hugely oversubscribed especially if the hotel has sold the larger room they use - they just relocate the class and reduce places available. Signing up for classes 10 days in advance is like making an appointment with your GP - an 8am race to get in first. At 8.02 you are too late. The club is quite expensive but the hotel prefers to focus on corporate profit and has repeatedly chosen to put leisure club customers last, so I'd have to advise against joining. We quit.

Very disappointed with this hotel

Very disappointed with this hotel. It is sold as a luxury spa hotel but if falls very short of this. The spa itself was awful - overcrowded in the changing rooms - no privacy. We asked if we could take the allocated robes to our room to change and were told no. To get a room with a robe in it is an upgrade at a significant additional cost. We think that anyone staying at the hotel and paying extra for the spa experience should automatically get a room with robes and be allowed to change in comfort and privacy.
Our basic room although large was seriously lacking in some basic amenities - no full length or magnifying mirror. No drinking water (upgrade!). The shower (over the bath with no grab handle) was inadequate - small showerhead, slow flow of water and not particularly warm. Dirty toilet brush. No fan in the bathroom.
The safe couldn't be used as the instructions did not match to enable it to be reset. The fridge was very noisy and had to be switched off so we could sleep. Broken hinge on cupboard. No sockets next to the bed and no USB charging sockets anywhere in the room. Our key cards lost connection twice (and neither were near a mobile phone!).
Food in the restaurant in the evening was generally OK but same menu each night during our 2 night stay and lots of add-ons that did not match up to the additional cost.
Good breakfast.
There was no information in the room or corridors to inform us of the nearest exit and assembly point in an emergency. A serious safety issue??
The hotel's saving grace was the staff who were welcoming, polite and helpful.

Would not recommend

We recently stayed at whittlebury for
The valentines weekend. We went last year and loved it unfortunately this year was the complete opposite. I feel this year they got greedy and overbooked. The spa was packed meaning we couldn’t use the facilities. The food was awful. Cold, not as advertised and tasteless. Staff were pushy and made you rush your meal. The room was tired had failing guttering outside the bedroom window and the bathroom smelt of sewage. Would not recommend and sadly we will not be returning

Whittlebury Spa and Hotel

Whittlebury Spa and Hotel – A Masterclass in Overpricing and Under-Delivering
This was my first ever spa experience, and it is genuinely astonishing how comprehensively Whittlebury Spa and Hotel managed to get everything wrong. What is marketed as a luxury retreat is, in reality, an overcrowded, poorly run, deeply disappointing establishment that appears far more interested in maximising footfall than delivering even the most basic standard of care.
The spa facilities were grossly overcrowded. The changing rooms were chaotic, claustrophobic, and overstimulating, with far too many people crammed into a space that clearly cannot cope with the volume of guests. Any notion of tranquillity was obliterated immediately. There was nowhere to relax — every poolside bed was taken, leaving guests standing around aimlessly like spare parts. For a spa, this is not just a failure; it is an embarrassment.
Treatments were delivered with all the warmth and individuality of a production line. During facials, my sister was inexplicably instructed to change into disposable underwear, while the rest of us were not — a glaring inconsistency that highlights a complete lack of professionalism or protocol. The entire experience felt rushed, impersonal, and careless. It was painfully obvious that this spa does not care about its staff or its guests; efficiency has replaced quality, and it shows.
The hotel itself was unacceptably cold, contributing to an overall sense of neglect rather than comfort. The reused robes were unpleasant and tired, entirely inappropriate for a spa environment. Locker fobs were temperamental and unreliable, turning a simple task into a repeated irritation.
The room offered no respite. The supposedly premium ESPA products were already open, raising serious concerns about hygiene and cleanliness. This, combined with the discovery of a spider in the bed, is entirely indefensible and should never occur in a hotel charging these prices.
The food was nothing short of shocking. Lunch — a buffet — was absolutely vile, which raises the serious question of how one manages to fail so spectacularly at something so straightforward. Dinner descended into farce. A so-called “caprese salad” arrived consisting of two miserly pieces of mozzarella and not even a full tomato, yet was presented as a proper dish. Despite having already paid for the meal, we were then confronted with extortionate supplements exceeding £10, a practice that borders on exploitative. Food was left sitting out on the side for others to collect themselves, chicken was unbearably dry, and breakfast continued the theme of incompetence — complete with a hair found on my pineapple.
Service throughout was abysmal. Glasses were left uncleared for hours, staff appeared disengaged, and no one seemed remotely interested in maintaining standards. Even navigating the hotel felt punitive; the walk from the lift and stairs to the room was absurdly long, hardly ideal for guests who are supposedly there to relax.
Whittlebury Spa and Hotel charges luxury prices while delivering a budget, disorganised, and careless experience. This was not relaxing, indulgent, or restorative — it was stressful, uncomfortable, and infuriating. I left colder, angrier, and more disappointed than when I arrived.
If this is your idea of a spa, I would strongly suggest reconsidering your entire operation. I will not return, and I would actively discourage others from wasting their time or money here.

Great stay mainly

Great stay, lovely pool, sauna and steam room..The idea surely is to relax, like one should for a chilled out weekend. Unfortunately there was a selfish hen party false laughing so loud in the restaurant and then back in the bar, It would only take a manager to ask them to be a bit quieter, surely that's all. But nobody did..

Room are a joke

Both jacuzzi's were closed, one of the steam rooms smelt like a gents, pool was very cold
Room was a joke, curtains that covered the heater / air-conditioning and very noisy
Couldn't open one of the wardrobe doors because they put the bed in front of it
Plaster virtually falling off the wall
Smallest shower in the biggest bathroom

Bar refused to take cash

Food was good and treatment

A disappointing stay at a beautiful place

We were given a Red Letter Day voucher for Christmas. I decided to use it at Whittlebury Hall as they were offering a luxurious stay with a three course dinner and breakfast. I had to pay a supplement so it was quite a hefty price all in all but it looked like a lovely stay away in a beautiful hotel.
Check in took ages as there was a long queue and only one receptionist. Eventually another one arrived. The man we saw was not welcoming in the slightest. He was quite rude. When i asked for the directions to the restaurant he seemed annoyed I had asked. I brushed it off as it was very busy, maybe he was stressed.
After the long trek to the room, feeling a little like i was in The Shining, with the long hallways and the tired decorations. I was expecting the room you see on the pictures but it was a dissapointment. The room was cold, mostly coming in through the window frames. The heater was giving off little heat even on full. The carpet was full of stains and the wallpaper was coming off in places. It was not the luxury we'd been promised.
Onto the 3 course meal, I have to say our waitress was lovely. The food itself was fine, nothing special but nothing wrong with it. The poitions were tiny which meant that even after 3 courses we were still hungry. I don't even have a large appetite. Every course came so quickly I think the remit was to turn around diners as quickly as possible. The room felt like we were at a wedding.
We then went to the Silverstone bar for cocktails. Again some of the staff seemed miserable, didn't engage. I don't think it was them, I felt it was a culture and probably a reflection of Management. Pleasentness and welcoming was not the norm so the ones that were really stood out. We joked that they must be new.
Breakfast was average at best. I was charged for a drink we'd had in the restaurant the night before. When the lady put the amount in the machine she automatically gave herself a 15% tip without asking, even though we'd left a rather large tip to the waitress after the meal. I thought that was a bit cheeky since all she'd done was take a payment.
All in all it was pretty disappointing and we won't be returning. It is such a beautiful building and could quite easily be so much better. If you're not willing to put in the effort to try and entice guests to return then don't be on red letter days site. You're promising a much better experience than you're giving. I've given 3 stars as contractually they did give us a room, bed and breakfast. But the bare minimum is not what we were expecting.

Not our first visit but unfortunately our worst!

Not our first visit but unfortunately the worst. Overall the package we go for is very good value for money. The food is fantastic and the service in Astons is consistently great. The breakfast being the biggest highlight. However, the things that were a bit frustrating on this occasion: the beds weren’t made properly you could see the bare mattress. The pillows were like biscuits and the sheets didn’t feel great to the touch. We got given a 9pm dinner slot. When arriving at 4pm for check in that is a very long wait! We made a comment at reception on arrival and the member of staff said I will see what I can do - that was that so apparently he could do nothing? I do not associate this hotel as one that is appropriate for families and on previous visits it has been relaxing as there have been no children but there are posters everywhere promoting family offers which it appears had worked there were so many kids. They were mucking about in the pool throwing balls and shouting loudly, children under 10 were even filling up the jacuzzi! Adults were just drifting away trying to find some peace!! The children were loud at meal times and there were even children under 5 at our 9pm booking which was annoying! The pool was not heated and both the pool and jacuzzi has so much chlorine it made your eyes sting above the water. We may have to reconsider our annual visit.

Terrible stay

Stayed here last week and had a completely different experience from my previous stay last year in 2024 and was very disappointed with the change. The service was terrible when I arrived at 10pm. I was not greeted well at all and they seemed half asleep. The shower in the room was either extremely hot or unusable/ scalding. The room had no chargers near the bed and tea, coffee was hidden with no water supplied in the room. Machines did not work for breakfast everything was cold. Not happy at all.
