Wickes - Chester Reviews 

We recently visited Wickes in Chester for a kitchen design appointment with the fabulous Karen Byrne.

Karen made us feel so comfortable from start to finish and came up with a fantastic design and layout for the kitchen as it is rather small and we didn't think it would be possible to fit in a much wanted dishwasher, however after some clever deliberation Karen was not only able to fit in a dishwasher but she also threw us in a spice draw and made much better use of the space that we have. She truly went above and beyond to make sure we got the kitchen we dreamed of. Her thoughtfulness and patience is much appreciated.

Karen has a lovely and warm presence about her and is such a professional. Wickes is very lucky to have her on the team. What an absolute gem she is.

We look forward to our dream kitchen being fitted and can't thank Karen enough. We wish we knew her when we needed a new bathroom. We highly recommend her to everyone.

We had a fantastic design appointment with Lee Prince at the Chester store recently. Lee came up with an excellent design for the layout of our kitchen which would give us a much better use of the current space. He was very friendly and gave us lots of great advice when it came to appliances/ work tops etc. We would recommend Lee to anyone who is looking to update their kitchen.

Wickes Community Programme made a very generous donation for our community alleyways garden project in Hoole, Chester. Polly Lee was really helpful in sorting out everything we needed. Thanks Wickes!

The designer , Gareth, was helpful and patient with my changes to the kitchen plans. He spent lots of time showing me items and giving me costs of options available . Choosing how to invest is quite stressful and he helped smooth the way!

We recently had a brand new kitchen designed and fitted through Wickes, and I cannot speak highly enough of the entire experience—especially because of the exceptional service we received from one of Wickes’ kitchen designers, Karen Byrne.

We first met Karen at the Birkenhead store, and from the first consultation, we were immediately impressed by her professionalism, knowledge, and genuine passion for what she does. Karen took the time to truly understand what we were looking for—not just in terms of design, but also how we use our kitchen day to day. She was patient, thoughtful, and incredibly creative, offering ideas and solutions that we would never have thought of ourselves.

When Karen moved to the Chester store, it was an absolute no-brainer for us to follow her there. Designers like Karen are rare, and we knew from our first interactions that we wanted her to oversee our kitchen from start to finish. And wow—what a difference it made.

What really set Karen apart was the way she constantly went above and beyond throughout the entire process. She came to our home multiple times, not just for the initial measurements but to work closely with our builders and ensure everything was progressing smoothly. She wasn’t just ticking boxes—she was actively involved, checking and adjusting the designs to fit real-time measurements and changes on site. Her eye for detail is unmatched, and she caught a few potential issues early that could’ve turned into major problems later on had she not been so attentive.

No request was ever too much trouble. Whether it was tweaking layouts, re-measuring areas, or just reassuring us during moments of decision-making, Karen was always just a phone call away and happy to help. Her commitment to getting things exactly right—both practically and aesthetically—gave us so much confidence. She made us feel like our kitchen was just as important to her as it was to us.

Thanks to Karen’s expert guidance and dedication, we now have a kitchen that is not only beautifully designed but perfectly tailored to our space and lifestyle. It’s functional, stylish, and genuinely a joy to be in every day.

In a world where great customer service can be hard to come by, Karen is a shining example of how things should be done. She combines deep product knowledge, design flair, and an extraordinary work ethic with warmth, humour, and professionalism that made the whole experience enjoyable from beginning to end.

When deciding to have my kitchen updated I spoke with Karen Byrne at Wikes Chester. She came to my home to measure and discuss what I wanted, I was unsure exactly what I wanted as I couldn’t visualise how it would look. Karen took the time to prepare plans discussing everything with me and making suggestions where she felt it would be beneficial. Her patience is second to none, she made any changes I felt I wanted and kept in contact with me during a short illness I had and was happy to hold things whilst I returned to full health some months later. Excellent Service and Support from Wickes Chester

I recently visited the Wickes Chester store to finalise plans for two bathroom projects, and I couldn’t be happier with the service I received. Martin Jones was fantastic from start to finish – professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. He really took the time to understand what I was looking for and offered helpful suggestions throughout the design process.

The bathroom plans look brilliant, and Martin made what could have been a stressful experience feel easy and enjoyable. His attention to detail and customer care stood out, and it’s clear he genuinely wants customers to be happy with the end result.

I’d highly recommend Wickes Chester, and especially Martin, to anyone planning a bathroom project. Thank you again for all your help!

Ordered bags of bark, they delivered them today to the wrong house! I put a note on my front asking to be put around my back garden and they were left on the pavement outside a neighbours! They weigh a ton and I’m expected to dart them to my house!!!!

I called the store looking for some information and product availability for a certain tile, Jack answered the phone and couldn’t have done more to help me he checked and gave me multiple options for where I could source the tiles and gave me the advice of I’d be better to drive slightly further to a store to get them from one place rather than getting a few from loads of different places.

He couldn’t have done more to help!!

Had an appt with Gareth for our kitchen design.
Absolute gent of a man, helping with any minor changes we had to the one he had designed for us,although they're weren't many as his design skills are exceptional. He also put my wife and my fears at ease taking us through the various designs and layouts of the kitchen on show in the store.

Our kitchen design consultant Martin Jones from Wickes Chester has been fantastic throughout our experience. He is so helpful and friendly and nothing has been too much. From taking all of our calls to help us with bits, to designing the most perfect kitchen for our home. Couldn’t be happier with the customer service he really is a treasure to the store. Thanks so much Martin and we can’t wait to see the finished result! :)

Simon resolved our issue with the store very quickly and effectively. We have previously had issues as we live nearby with the store alarm going off and Simon quickly took action to resolve the problems.

Visited today and Assistant Manager Jess was a great help made me feel very welcome

Sophie and Simon couldn't do enough for me. They went above and beyond to make sure I had everything that I needed to install the new kitchen. From design, through to delivery, they have been great. They are very thorough, and you don't feel rushed when you are with them. They make sure to take their time with you. Great customer service. Give them a pay rise 🙌🙌

Wickes sold a clearly damaged fully finished skirting board (clearly not fit for purpose and should not have been sold by them in the first place). When we went to return it they refused refund/replacement. Polly the deputy manager at Chester shop needs customer care skills as her attitude was disgraceful. Will never purchase from wickes again based on this

I had a bathroom fitted in 2021 and within a day there was a leak in the kitchen. The fitter returned and persuaded me that it was a fault in the flat roof. The leak continued and he then cut a hole in the kitchen ceiling to access the shower drain (at my expense) and told me there was no problem. I had the roof checked and it was fine. On Christmas day 2024 I was cooking dinner when the shower drain broke and I was flooded. When I checked the drain had just popped open after being ineptly glued together by the fitter. I complained to Wickes and this is their reply.

After a thorough review and assessment, we have determined that your claim does not meet the criteria outlined in Wickes workmanship and product warranty policy.
The reasons for this decision are that upon review the shower waste had been fitted sufficiently at the time and it is normal practice for a waste to also be sealed with sealant. With sealant being a perishable product this can over time disintegrate or break down over time.
The waste had lasted for 3 years before failing and causing the issue.

So be warned. Wickes regards a catastrophic plumbing failure as something to be expected after just four years!
I twice asked to submit a formal complaint but they have just ignored me

I wanted a Kitchen for one of my rental properties so called in the Chester Branch. Lee Prince the Design Consultant had an appointment booked with another customer but still gave me time to start planning the kitchen. The other customers didn't turn up and Lee completed the kitchen and I left the store. He forwarded the plans and gave me a courtesy call to see if I had made a decision. At no time did he hard sell or try make me feel uncomfortable but another problem came up so I never got back to him. I contacted him on the 7th January ( a couple of weeks later ) to go through some changes and he did the changes and I ordered the kitchen.
It looks amazing and ai am really happy with the service I received. Wickes should be very happy with Lee Prince he is excellent.

Had kitchen fitted at cost of £17000 I had problem after problem some have been resolved like broken floor tile dishwasher not level dent on door. I have a list of problems but as of yet not resolved I am getting passed from piller to post no one taking responsibility. Latest update I’ve been passed to progression team told they will contact me within 48hours a week has passed now. I’ve been left with holes in wall pelmet cut too short raw edges and butchered decor panels. I can go on
