Wickes - Wakefield Reviews 

Dani at Wickes Wakefield was extremely helpful and polite with excellent product knowledge and advice. We purchased some kitchen cabinets and we are delighted with the quality and value for money.

On 4th Dec 2025 I visited Wicks Wakefield store. I had done some research on the products I needed but was still unsure about the exact parts I required.
I spoke with a staff member named Peter. He was extremely helpful and offer advice and alternative products that would do the job. He was very polite. Excellent customer service from Peter, thank you.

Went for paint and asked for advice from a staff member Nick.He was so helpful and patient with me.I purchased the paint he even helped take paint to my car.Thank you so much Nick .

Loaded 6 pieces of timber stud work on my trolley at Wickes Wakefield store and the dozy girl on the till charged me for 7. Scary how dim people can be.

I telephoned Wickes in Wakefield 3 times over 2 days to try get a price on a new kitchen but was told there was no-one available today and tomorrow is their day off. The call taker sounded uninterested and did not offer any alternative despite the fact I told her I already had a kitchen design and just needed it costing. I ended the call telling her I will go elsewhere.

Very honest a good service came in towards closing and was able to get my click and collect and the other items I needed.

Spoke to both Jude and manager Mark they explained full the process of having a kitchen from Wicks were very detailed in explaining the process could not ask for more booked my appointment with the designer who I’m sure will be just as detailed as they have made me feel confident that I have made a good choice . Thankyou

Staff always friendly and very helpful. Gave me advice on what l needed to complete a project in my garden. If one staff member was unable to point me in the right direction, straight on their headset to get the right advice from another member of staff. Well done to Wickes (Wakefield).

Staff are always friendly, welcoming & helpful. On this occasion Dani at the Wakefield branch went above &beyond to help Wakefield Sea Cadets to get a new internal door at the best possible price. She always has a smile and chat for all customers and makes sure they get what they came in for. She is a credit to your company.

Firstly…I don’t like writing poor reviews. Secondly, I think I ought to on this occasion in the hope that Wickes in Wakefield do something about it.
Sunday, midday, arguably a time when DIY in the average home is prevalent. Store size about same as Wembley pitch….and just as packed for a match! Number of staff available: 1….perhaps more accurate to say nil because the one staff member was at the till trying her best to keep an increasing long queue of customers at bay. I had to queue twice - not to pay - but simply to ask her where I could find certain items in the enormous store. She pointed in the general direction of the ‘East stand’. No joy. I couldn’t find what I wanted. A very helpful customer also helped the search but she too was unable to find the item I was searching for. I made my way back towards the till and the clearly stressed lady called out “there’s a queue you know!” I wasn’t sure why she said this because it was obvious she knew who I was because of the previous two times I’d queued up to ask for her assistance. I guess she was fed up with the whole situation! I said to her I was well aware there was a queue as this was my third time of joining it! The lady eventually rang to get more help and a young man came and directed me to where the item wasn’t! Eventually another young man endeavoured to assist but when we got to the relevant area he said he was fairly new and wasn’t sure where the item was. I could go on and on but the following is my main message to Wakefield: You are understaffed…and it’s not fair to the few staff who are there. In turn this bears on the customer service that they are unable to give and what customers reasonably expect. It honestly isn’t the first time I’ve experienced this at the store. It’s supposed to welcome the public as a whole - not just the tradesmen and women who often know exactly what they want and where to find it. There simply was no customer service and the area was ripe for frustration on all parties concerned. So disappointing from such a big brand.

18 months ago I paid in full for a bathroom and kitchen, the fitters they sent were useless, I am still waiting for this to be fitted, the local branch do not care and the head office are even worse.
WICKES - PLEASE CAN I HAVE WHAT I HAVE PAID YOU FOR

I will not be using Wicks again. Received a parking fine at the Wakefield store for allegedly incorrect parking even though it was 3.15 on Sunday and the car park was almost empty. Although they are the only store on the site and I’m a regular customer, they didn’t want to know.

We went into the store looking to transform our garden with a summer house to give us accessibility to the garden all through the year. The team were very supportive and took our order. It was quickly delivered and we paid privately to have it erected. If there was one improvement it would be having the ability to order an erection service rather than having to search for someone to do the work.

We can not recommend Neola from this branch of Wickes enough she has been helpful, knowledgeable and honest throughout the whole process and all of this came with a warm friendly manner and attitude - we cannot recommend Neola enough.

The reason for the 4 star rating is because the quote offered for fitting our new kitchen was in our opinion extortionate.

Friendly staff. Good discount.
Chloe designed our kitchen and we are very happy with it.

We decided to change look of the kitchen new door fronts and panels as base units were good spoke to Chloe at Wickes Wakefield gave her the measurements and she sorted the rest new doors and panels arrived they fitted perfectly no extra holes to drill one panel had slight damage on a corner spoke to Chloe who then had it replaced within a couple of days the whole process went extremely well and the kitchen is transformed and looks like new again thanks to Wickes design team highly recommended

Fantastic service from Wickes. Ordering building materials online was a breeze. Delivery came on time, very nice friendly driver. Goods were palletised and shrink-wrapped. My local Wakefield branch is also a dream to visit. The service there is always fantastic. Very helpful staff and usually everything I need is in stock. Highly recommend them for all of your DIY needs.
