Triumvirate of excellence.

In April 2025, we found ourselves struggling to decide which estate agents to use for selling our home. Having gone through this process a few years earlier, we had received poor service from both the estate agent and the conveyancing solicitors. The alternative local estate agents who provided valuations did not impress us, prompting us to search online for other options. That’s when our luck began to change.

We discovered a website called GetAgent, and since our direct visits to various local agents had yielded no satisfaction, we decided to give their free service a try. Almost immediately, we were presented with a comprehensive summary of local agents, complete with useful data to assist in our search. This included the often elusive agents’ fees, among other valuable information. Despite this service being free (we have no idea how they pay their way!), we have received no unwanted emails from GetAgent since using their service. Therefore, we highly recommend trying them out, even if you think you already know your best local agent.

Among the results was Peter David Estate Agents, a name we hadn’t encountered before. Fortunately, their statistics looked promising, so we invited them for a valuation, and our luck continued. The entire valuation process felt more professional and provided us with more useful information and positivity than the other local agents we had tried. We weren’t seeking the highest valuation; instead, we wanted an agent we could trust to price our home accurately and instil confidence that they could find a buyer.

Once we chose Peter David, everything moved quickly. The photographs were taken on the earliest date they estimated, and a sample sales brochure was presented to us in no time. We had the opportunity to customize the brochure to our liking, all while receiving wise advice from the professionals. They provided us with plenty of useful insights and allowed us to make the final decisions on many aspects of the sale ourselves. It was a very professional and considerate service.

Throughout the process, phone calls and emails were answered promptly, with no instances of frustration. Peter David Estate Agents handled all the viewings, and we received an offer remarkably quickly. While we recognize that this was a continuation of our good fortune, we also believe that you create your own ‘luck’ through proper preparation. As of October 2025, the for-sale boards of the two closest properties remain up, having been on the market throughout the period ours was sold.

Once the offer was accepted, we needed to choose a conveyancing solicitor. We explored numerous options, as the prices varied significantly. Again, we prioritized reliability and quality of service over cost, given our previous negative experiences. Many online-only conveyancers offered attractive prices but had appalling reviews. We then turned to Peter David for a recommendation, and they suggested Wilkinson Woodward. They were transparent about the modest commission they would receive and assured us we would receive excellent service.

After receiving a quote from Wilkinson Woodward, we found their fees to be competitive with those of the local solicitors we had contacted directly, so we instructed them to act on our behalf. The service we received from Wilkinson Woodward was a seamless continuation of our positive experience with Peter David. At times, our emails were answered almost instantly, akin to text messages—something we hadn’t expected.

We required a couple of ancillary services, such as indemnity insurance, and their prices were incredibly low. While we won’t disclose the exact costs as they can change, we can say they were so reasonable that there was no need to seek alternative quotes. This was a stark contrast to our previous experience, where the sale solicitor had taken advantage of us, as many have likely experienced. Here, we were paying such low fees that we knew we couldn’t find better elsewhere.

To conclude:
The triumvirate of companies we used here has been nothing short of amazing; each one being highly professional in their dealings with us, excellently priced, and quick to produce results.
