Absolutely avoid if you care about your sanity, time, and money

I bought a wardrobe and chest of drawers from this company and paid for both in August 2014. My nightmare of an experience with Woolworths only ended on September 24th, after many work and weekend days lost, money lost on phone calls, and unspeakable frustration at their utter failure to provide quality goods, their incompetence and atrocious customer service. Here's what happened:

- Received chest of drawers missing parts. Received broken wardrobe. Notified Woolworths. They could not provide parts for the chest of drawers, sent a letter saying they could not provide parts for wardrobe instead, then they sent wrong side panel for the wardrobe. I arranged to return both items because this was just ridiculous.

- The wrong address was given three times to the delivery/collection people, so I wasted three days of my life (7 am to 9 PM) waiting for goods to be delivered or collected. Woolworths customer service were useless at addressing this, and their couriers (Arrow XL and Yodel) were unable to address it at my instruction. In sum, I was stuck in a vicious, infuriating loop of booking returns and waiting in for nothing, and Woolworths did absolutely nothing to address this. I eventually got through to the ONE helpful customer service employee who actually did his job and fixed this. This was after some 10 phone calls and six angry emails.

- As I had thrown out the original packaging, Woolworths sent me giant mattress plastic bags to pack the wardrobe and chest of drawers. Not surprisingly, the plastic bags tore open when the collectors tried to carry them, causing me great anxiety that not all the parts will be returned to the company and that I would somehow be blamed for this and not get my money back. This sheer level of stupidity and not caring about customers has been for me the essence of my experience with this company.

- Customer service employees were completely useless and unprofessional. They do not have a process whereby they know what each of them did, so every phone call was just a waste of my time and money repeating the same issues over and over again.

- I spent well over £30 in phone calls to Woolworths to sort things out. They told me they will refund my call costs, but never did.

I'm not a person who normally writes reviews but my experience with Woolworths was so incredibly insane I just had to write about it. This company did absolutely NOTHING right from the moment I paid them the money to get my items. Every step of the transaction other than taking my money was a disaster: I didn't get the products I paid for, they were unable to address this, they were unable to arrange deliveries and collections properly, and all of this cost me money and time. This might not happen to everybody, but it it happened to me, it can happen to you.

Avoid this company. Avoid it like the plague.

Received 2 damaged swan fridge freezers

Ordered a swan fridge freezer. Paid in full. It was danaged and delivery men took it away.
I had to pay in full again. Three days later the second fridge freezer was delivered and even more damaged than the first. It was also taken away by the delivery men.
My only option according to Woolworths was to pay in full again for a third fridge freezer, even though I feel there were no guarantees that one would be ok. There was apatently no other solution, even though I had paid £1200 in a week and still had no fridge freezer.
I was informed that it could take up to 21 days for a refund.
After emailing customer service the money was refunded more quickly and I was given a cheque for £20.
It made me wonder if Woolworths are selling graded products and that's why they are cheaper.
I would never purchase from them again.

Excellent wardrobe, super value for money

I bought the Peru wardrobe for £175, for my youngests room. I did not think the quality for that kind of money would be great but it is amazing. Heavy and study and went together easily. We had issues because the space is an exact fit for it so we had to be ingenious about how we got it in there which involved taking it apart a couple of times but still it was just superb. Cannot believe how good the quality is for such little money.

great service

I was initially advised of a 7am-5pm delivery slot which almost put me off ordering, but I couldn't find another supplier that could deliver anywhere near as soon.
On the business day before delivery I had texts and emails narrowing that slot down to 9 to 1m which was reallt helpful, and on the day further narrowing the slot down, I had spoken to woolswrths about whether the slot could be a shorter window, not sure why they don't tell people about this - maybe they use more than one courier.

Only slight pain was that the assembly service would have delayed things by a couple of weeks, but fortunately I had carpenters here working on something else, so I was able to by-pass that.

Pleased witht the bed too - great quality and a good price!

No problems!

I've ordered various items from good old woolies in the last year. I have learnt to check the estimated delivery dates in case it's not going to arrive in time but generally no problems. They cancel orders promptly when I've asked them to, provided I've emailed them from the account linked to my woolies account. I've also used my account to order items for my friends and they've been impressed with the speed of delivery and the option to spread payments.

Yodel, their delivery firm of choice, however can be a different matter! They delivered an order of mine to a house a few doors away from me yet told me it'd take 5 days to get it picked up and dropped at mine! 😂😂 Needless to say, I went and got it myself.

Shocking customer service

I ordered a fridge freezer from Woolworths. It was due to arrive between 3pm and 7pm. It was well after 8 when it arrived. The delivery guys left before I could unwrap it. When I did so I found 4 smallish but noticeable dents in the stainless steel door. It being a Friday and realising the issue wouldn't be resolved quickly, and being in need of a fridge, I connected it and contacted Woolworths the next day. Over two weeks later Woolworths tell me I can't have a replacement because I connected it. What was I supposed to do? Wait over 3 weeks without use of a fridge!

Dreadful, Worst Service Possible.

I recently ordered a bed for my daughter's birthday. I asked for a delivery date two days before her birthday to give me a chance to assemble the bed. My wife booked a day off work to take delivery of the bed. Around 2:30 pm, my wife phoned me at work to say the bed had not arrived yet. I rang the Woolworths order line to find out when the bed would be coming. Imagine my surprise when I was told that the order had been cancelled because someone at the call centre had entered my date of birth incorrectly and it did not match my credit card, I was even asked if I was sure I had given the correct date of birth, (I think I know my own date of birth, I've had it all my life). The woman at the order line told me that an e-mail had been sent telling me the order had been cancelled but this was not true, no e-mail was ever received. I was then told I could re-order the bed to be delivered on the morning of my daughter's birthday but I would have to pay a premium delivery charge. My wife then had to take another day off work (unpaid) to take delivery of the bed.
The bed is o.k. but I will never use Woolworths again for anything.

Bad experience, will not shop for electronic or electrical at Shop Direct again

I brought a Vax carpet washer from Woolworths, I used the washer for about 5 minute and smoke started coming out at the bottom of the washer.
I called Woolworth customer service who told me I have to report this to Vax, so I called Vax. Vax agreed that the washer was faulty and give me a reference number to give Woolworths, So I called Woolworth again and give them the reference number and arrange a return with Yodal for the next day.
Nobody from yodal came to pick it up the next day. so I called Woolworth again who arranged a return with Yodal for the day after, but nobody from Yodal came to pick it up again.
So this time I called Yodal, who inform me that there was no arrangement made for a return. I also recieved a letter from shop direct who inform me that they are investigating my complaint, I did not make a complaint I just reported a faulty product and wanted to arrange a return. So this time I called the number on the letter who informed me that they are investigating and dealing with the return
I wasted over £9 in telephone calls, Woolworths customer service had never informed me that shop direct is dealing with this.
Its been two weeks and I still have not heard from shop direct. I have already provided shop direct with a reference from Vax who has admitted the product is faulty. I will never buy electronic and eletrical products from shop direct again

Great product but problems with delivery.

I ordered a bed with a matress and arranged to have it delivered on my day off the following week. However it turned up without the matress. I rang Woolworths and was informed that the only way to get the matress would be to buy one separately and then be reinbursed once it turned up! After weighing up my options this is what happened and I had to wait another week for the matress. (i would have had to have waited in to have the bed collected so it seemed there was no point returning it.) The staff were nice and I am happy with the product but it does seem rediculous that I had pay again for something I had already bought and I was annoyed at having to wait in twice for the delivery. I have now been reinbursed and did get a discount though. I think the IT systems need looking!
