Valuable insights!

I entered this course with simply a few ideas for children's books. I had absolutely no idea how to present the books correctly or to whom I should send them. This course provides a great amount of very useful information from researching already successful books in your target age bracket all the way to presenting your work to the right publishers in its best possible fashion. This course is well worth the time!

This is the "Guts" of the matter.

I really enjoyed learning all the topics involved in this course. It's a straight-forward approach to all the basic knowledge and insight that's needed to prepare you for your first attempt at writing for small children and Teenagers.
Also, I believe the scope of everything that's taught in this course could very well help you to write ANY type of Novel...for ANY age group.
I'm very pleased with everything I've learned and am certain it will help me to make a very good first attempt at writing a book, short story, or magazine article. It was an investment well worth the time. The small cost required for the course is really minimal, with all else considered. Thank you!!!

Clear, easy to follow and pragmatic in approach.

The modules are clearly constructed and very much a practical guide for people who wish to learn the realities of publishing and are prepared to get on with the work and write.
The tests are a great incentive to keep going and measure your progress.
All in all I enjoyed it and found it very engaging and useful.

I've been installed with a load of knowledge and a practical, can-do approach to a project that previously was slightly impossible- thankyou!!do

The course was so thorough and yet flexible. It was my Christmas present to myself, but there's a security in that I can access the content for the rest of my life/career!

It made me want to write and write- and gave very useful, practical advice for constructing the story I've always wanted to tell. Hugely motivational.

I've subscribed to young adult fiction too- and can't wait to start.

Thank you so much Neil- you're my writing mentor :)

Amazing Content but poorly presented

The basic write story books for children course is exactly what I've been trying to find for a couple of years now. If your even slightly interested in writing but have absolutely no idea how to get started then this is course for you. My only complaint (and the reason its not rated any higher) is that the website the course is laid on out is fairly poor. I've done a fair few online courses recently and although this was by far the most interesting the information was presented in such away that it really cheapened the experience.

A very helpful, informative course. Five stars.

Initially I was nervous that this course would be too difficult but the layout and style of the course was so easy to follow and I found myself learning so much more than I first thought I would. I also took this course to improve my writing skills and not necessarily to write for children however the course has opened my eyes to the many writing possibilities available to me and encourage me to look back at what I read as a child as well as what is available for children now.

I recommend that you try this course if you have even the slightest desire to write. It will help you immensely.

Great Information

As far as the course itself, there is great information to learn. I started out really enjoying the course and wanted to keep going on to the next module with enthusiasm. What became frustrating and discouraging were the tests. Some of the answers to the tests were not clear from the written material and it seemed they wanted to trick people with their answers. It became a matter of trying to 2nd guess what they wanted and I just wanted to get finished with the test and didn't care by the end. The answers are subjective, and it could be an issue due to UK and USA individuals having different ideas etc. It's not math or science, it's opinions and how a person may interpret and process information. As far as the material goes and the presentation I would have given 4 and possibly 5 stars, however, I would give the testing a 2 star due to becoming frustrated and discouraged.

Good tips but still a long way off

There were some good tips in this course but I still feel a long way off from knowing how to write a book. The style and format of it was quite good though I did see a lot of mistakes throughout the course which you would have thought would be edited out since it's about writing! I also think the course could have used some exercises as the multiple choice questions were pretty pointless and practical things help people learn better. Still was alright and I learnt some good bits.

Very informative class.

This course was extremely informative and gave a lot of in depth knowledge on the field of writing for children. It is mostly geared toward England, but it is fairly easy to apply to America. The tests were just a bit ambiguous in the types of questions it asked..."what is the LEAST...what is the MOST..." then offered several answers that could apply. That part of the course was a bit frustrating but there were not enough of these types of questions per test to stop you from being able to pass it and move on. I think if they reworded the test questions to make them a bit more direct, it would eliminate this frustration and just focus on the strength of the class which is all the great knowledge it supplies. I would definitely recommend it if you are interested in the Children's Book field.

I would recommend this course to anyone who has a passion for writing. This course takes you step-by-step on how to write a children's book, going from talking about how to get an idea written into words on paper to getting your book published. I can't wait to use everything I've learned from this course into my current and future writing projects.

Terrible customer service.

I purchased your story writing course along with a certificate but anytime I've tried to log in with my groupon voucher, I get a message saying the voucher is no longer any good. I can't get any help from Groupon so maybe you can help me?

Hello

Firstly, we're very disappointed to see that you've given us a 1-star review for 'terrible customer service', yet you've never actually contacted our customer service team. You are referring to the fact that Groupon have not been able to help you, but Groupon are a totally separate company. Had you contacted our team directly using the support link on our site we could have resolved this issue within a few minutes for you.

Secondly, the reason why your voucher is no longer any good is because you have already used it. A Groupon voucher is valid for a one-time use only. You cannot use it again once it has been redeemed.

Thirdly, you cannot log in with a Groupon voucher. You would login to the course using the username and password that you chose when you first signed up to the course. You can also reset your password at anytime if you have forgotten these details. Alternatively, you can send a quick email to our support team and we can manually reset it for you.

Finally, we apologize if this response comes across as a little short to you and others reading it, but we work extremely hard to provide the highest level of service and deliver the best course we can, as is reflected in the huge number of 5-star reviews that we consistently achieve. To be given a 1-star review for something that we were never contacted about in the first place is not only detrimental to our overall rating, but it also hurts our reputation and is taken personally by each and every one of our excellent team.

Please consider contacting our support team directly and then consider reviewing us based on the response you receive from our team.

A little skeptical at first but then it became a good experience

I ran across this certification on groupon. I never had an interest in writing children books ever , but for the deal they were offering I couldn't help but to take it. I started the first module on the date of purchase and completed the first module and test within the first hour of purchasing. Sounds fairly easy right ? I noticed the power points were very well presented and were not at all boring or ''originally'' done. Overall I really liked the experience I would say that you guys shouldn't make us pay for the certificates though , I was hoping it would have been free for the official seal version. And there should also be a feature that students can make and customize profiles to interact with other readers and authors. Networking is all about growth

A very well structured and informative writing course 10/10

I found this course to be easily followed and gave me the re-assurance to continue with my story (which I had put away in a drawer years ago) with the added confidence of how to structure it. The Guidance and information given will allow any writer to create their story and to put their ideas, and thoughts down on paper for the enjoyment of others. A must for any budding authors,

All about making money…

I get it, every loves money and wants more of it. However, I was slightly disturbed to see that money was the main focus of the course. I suppose there are those that want to write a book for the sole purpose of making money, but not being one of those people, I was appalling to see money plastered all over the first module.

The content of the modules was ok enough. There were some good pieces of information but you needed to pick them out from the excessive use of examples. I found the subject headings for each module to inaccurate most of the time. A section of a module would start on one topic and then go into a tangent, but still under the guise of the original topic. And there were a disturbing number of typos that I would not expect if I happened to be one of those that paid full price. Thankfully I discovered the course on Groupon, so I only lost $20. This course is definitely not worth the full price.

Full of the good stuff - writing skills and tips, to take you through the entire creative process

I enjoyed this course. It contained a large amount of valuable material aimed at improving both your writing skills, and what to do with your work once you've finished writing it. It was an honest course, and helps you to gain the skills to be successful. The only think I would like to see on the course is the submission of work.
