Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 184 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the products, citing issues with game descriptions not matching the actual gameplay, consoles breaking down within a year, and a lack of new, innovative games, with some feeling that only graphics have improved. The pricing of games and subscriptions, particularly the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, was a major concern, with many finding the price increases unacceptable and feeling that the value no longer justifies the cost. Reviewers also frequently encountered significant problems with customer service, describing it as unhelpful, difficult to reach a real person, and designed to avoid responsibility. The subscription model itself was a source of frustration, with people feeling forced to purchase Game Pass for features that were previously free or to play with friends. The overall user experience was also criticized due to frequent system and game updates, issues with account access, and difficulties with online multiplayer.

TRASH

Hi,

Per your instructions, I am replying directly to this email to create a written paper trail in text-only format.

I do not have saved transcripts from Xbox Support. My attempts to resolve this issue were conducted through live chat sessions and phone calls. Xbox did not provide transcripts, reference numbers, or follow-up emails for these interactions. Several chat sessions ended due to disconnections or transfers, and no written records were sent to me afterward.

Here is a chronological summary of my attempts to resolve the issue:

• I experienced multiple consecutive days where I had no access to PC Game Pass due to account/service issues on Xbox’s side.
• During this period, I contacted Xbox Support repeatedly over the course of more than a week via live chat and phone calls.
• Xbox representatives acknowledged technical or account issues but did not restore service in a timely manner.
• Despite the service outage, I was charged the full monthly PC Game Pass subscription fee.
• I did not receive a credit, refund, or written confirmation resolving the issue.

I have made repeated good-faith efforts to resolve this matter directly with Xbox. Xbox has not provided written responses, transcripts, or follow-up documentation despite these attempts.

I am seeking an appropriate credit or refund for the billing period during which I was unable to access the service I paid for.

Thank you for reviewing my case.

Sincerely,
Rajesh Shankar

Their customer support site is like a labyrinth, except the Minotaur in the centre just wants to waste your time. It is designed to put people off cancelling or requesting refunds and is incredibly predatory. You can't even speak to a customer service agent, you're instead made to speak to other "experts" and by expert they mean some dude who owned an X-Box back in college and has zero ability to help. Avoid like the plague.

"Play Anywhere" are not worth more than the words

I purchased the latest version of Diablo IV for a week ago, played it on Xbox for less than an hour, with the expectation that it would align with Microsoft’s widely promoted “Play Anywhere” philosophy. The game is developed by Blizzard Entertainment, a studio owned by Microsoft, and is available on platforms that are also owned and operated by Microsoft (Xbox and the Xbox PC app). Based on this, I reasonably expected that a single license would allow me to play on both Xbox and PC while continuing the same progress.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. The license does not transfer between Xbox and PC, requiring the purchase of two separate licenses. When I contacted support to request a refund due to this limitation, my request was denied. I reasonably expected that a single license would allow me to play on both Xbox and PC while continuing the same progress, consistent with the approach taken by many other titles.

This is particularly disappointing because cross-platform access with a single license has been one of Xbox’s strongest selling points and a major reason Microsoft has cited when acquiring game studios. In this situation, where both the developer and the platforms are owned by Microsoft, the lack of cross-platform licensing feels inconsistent with Microsoft’s own messaging and difficult to justify.

If this were a third-party title outside of Microsoft’s control, the limitation would be more understandable. However, when Microsoft owns the studio, the platforms, and the ecosystem, customers should reasonably expect better integration—or, at the very least, fair refund options when those expectations are not met.

As a result of this experience, I cancelled my Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription and decided to move to another platform. The ability to purchase one license and use it across console and PC was my primary reason for choosing Xbox, and this experience has significantly diminished my trust in that promise.
Overall, Diablo IV itself may be a strong game, but the licensing and customer support experience within the Microsoft ecosystem leaves much to be desired.

I bought Xbox gift card today for $150

I bought Xbox gift card today for $150. It said it was activated on the receipt as I scratched the back to get the code everything looked good I had to send a screenshot of the code to my husband over seas cause he on a mission for the military and our only way to communicate is through this was or if he needs things like personal items etc. well he told me he put the code in and it said "your card has been used by someone else" he put in the amount it asked for so it was $150 the code and the status said cancelled. So I'm very pissed off that this happened. I would love if someone would reach out to me or respond so we could resolve this issue

Veteran getting screwed over once again

I'm a 22 year combat veteran, who spent well over $800 on a Xbox series x, which I use for to help handle my PTSD and 7 TBI's. I have had it less than a year and now it won't even get past the trouble shooting screen and all tech support and other maintenance works can tell me is I might have to get a new one. As you can see in the pictures there's no damage and there is barely even any dust I really take care of the things that take care of me....bull.... unbelievable bull...

Xbox Game Pass for January 2026

The game pass essential is a MFJ. I counted 15 free games on the Xbox Game Pass that are available to play. Are you MFK me free games on the Xbox Game Pass, games you don't need pay for them because they are FREE TO PLAY and you don't need a MF membership to play either. Microsoft is getting extremely greedy

Money sucker

Age verification makes you submit id online where its not safely secured and protected potential data leaks , If you dont then good luck trying to speak to people on there , and then theres the raging increase on game pass. If you ever consider getting an xbox then think of it this way , you buy the xbox for hundreds of pounds then you have to spend hundreds more to buy games on it , then you have to buy a subscription to play said games online , then your poorly made controller gets stick drift and you then need to shell out another 70 buying another controller, that's not even mentioning things like batteries or accessories like headsets

I played ps4 for a long time and I am in the hospital for 25 weeks and they only have Xbox in the hospital so I had to make a account and played for 3 days and I don’t no what I did or say!! I guess Xbox players are SUPER SENSITIVE and cut from a different part of the cloth like the sensitive part of the cloth or is very delicate, and even a sneeze would hurt its feelings and I have contacted them. I wrote them everything and they will not tell me exactly what I did or what I said there a bunch of pansies.

I can't get in! It says the verification method (sms UK) isn't working, so I'm locked out. It's Christmas Eve, my son just wants to play a computer game. Disaster. Very expensive piece of plastic and many little expensive discs, all completely useless.

Controllers.

I wish companies like Microsoft wouldn't lie to their customers and announce that unofficial controllers impact gaming experience as to why they 'block' the accessory. When in fact, it's because they are cheaper and more affordable than official controllers. Admit its about the over price controllers you want people to buy rather than the cheaper ones. Liars!

As a long term xbox fan I must say that the service has really fallen off since the golden days 10 years ago. I really don't see the ip coming back any time soon so I wouldn't recommend but if you really want to play games online it does function. The last time I bought a game was a decent while ago.
