DO NOT use this company

DO NOT use this company. I hired a LWB Ford Transit van via their website for a cross country home move and told them I was under 25. I was reassured my age wasn't a problem so long as I paid the young drivers fee.
When I arrived at Avis (the company the booked me with) to collect the van I was told they don't accept drivers under 25. After around 1 hour of stress/talking to various people at Avis I was offered a VW Transporter which is about half the size of the van I originally booked AND WAS CHARGED AN EXTRA £130. Avis told me that third party companies (such as Yellowhire) are unreliable and often make up their own rules.
As a result of this mess I was unable to move various pieces of furniture from my old flat to my new one and they had to be left on the road for council uplift (due to the the van now not being able to fit them). I am hugely out of pocket and urge anyone else considering Yellohire to avoid unless you want to be hit with additional charges when you go to collect your car/van.

Twice used & easy process

I’ve hired 2 large vans through Yellohire now and both times have had a great experience. The guy I spoke to on the phone both times was lovely and really helpful. Would definitely recommend 👌🏽

Booked to collect the van from the…

Booked to collect the van from the Waterloo depot, the next day they made numerous attempts to contact me to inform me that there was no longer a van available at this location. They were however able to source a like for like van from Vauxhall.
Great tenacity on their part for not giving up after 1 phone call.
Above and beyond customer service

Avoid at all costs !!!!

Absolute shambles of a company.

I booked a van for Leeds & Bradford Airport, paid my deposit and was contacted the day before I was supposed to collect the Van that I would have to collect it a few miles away... adding pressure and expense in taxi fares... no offer was made from Yellowhire to compensate me for my time or travel expenses ( at the very least they could have picked me up at the airport in said van)! There was two members of staff in the tiny Delaware’s portacabin... doing nothing!!

I could have let that fly also, but it gets WAY WORSE!!

The charged 100% of the rental fee at the time of booking (although they said they would just take a deposit.) to be honest I was ok with that - because I didn’t know what was coming next ........

When I arrived on site to collect the Van, (it was not as described. Again I ca let this pass... (It was totally battered and crashed / dented) I guess they never used the other persons deposit to fix it .... scam right there ....that’s a whole other story

I took plenty of photos of the Van and all the damage prior to taking it out as it was supposed to be pristine....

The two guys in the office were friendly, relaxed and seemed really honest......

We went over the paperwork, agreed how long I needed the Van for (although I had already paid for the two days in full - so they already knew how long I wanted it for!!)

This is where the real problem began. After stating I was leaving the back after 2 days (on a Saturday) I was told that there would be no one there at the office to collect it and I had to leave it somewhere else (even though they have a drop box at the portacabin for keys)

I agreed to leave as said car park & did. Video camera footage has proven so...

When I got my credit card statement there were 3 charges on there that were not authorised, when I approached the company, they told me I was in the wrong and didn’t leave the van back at the agreed time therefore they charged me double what I had initially paid. They also charged me to drop it off at the car park - where they told me to drop it off and knew in advance what day I would drop it off, still no prior notice there was a parking fee. No where on any paperwork did it state this.

Good news is that I reported this bunch of cowboys after weeks and weeks of dealing with them directly and getting nowhere. I got a full refund and an apology....

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - THEY TRIED TO RIP ME OFF AND I DIDN'T LET THEN GET AWAY WITH IT. Do not trust this company or their partner Budget in Leeds (who serviced the booking)

Don't use this agent - go directly to the hire company

My plan to borrow a van fell through, so I needed to hire a replacement quickly. I found Yellow Hire through an internet search, offering vans of the size I was looking for, withing easy walking distance of my home, and at an attractive price.

It turned out, though, that the company was simply a proxy or broker. If I hadn't been so hasty, I would have contacted Avis directly, and that would have made the whole transaction much easier. I booked the van for three days, intending to pick it up on Saturday morning and return it on Monday evening, but with the reassurance that I could have it for the full 72 hours if I needed to.

Stuck in traffic and running out of time on the Monday afternoon, I called the customer service line to check that it would be all right to take the van back at opening time on Tuesday morning, and the agent confirmed that it was. With that assurance, I finished my move that night and set the alarm to return the van at 8 the following morning. The phone line is not designed with hands-free calling in mind, though, so was difficult to navigate while driving the van!

Despite checking, I was later charged an additional fee by Yellow Hire, which on investigation turned out to be for returning the van late! I had to make more calls and give the name of the person I had spoken to before they agreed to refund the charge, which of course should never have been made in the first place.

Don't use this company for anything except getting a price to negotiate with the hire company itself.

Helpful service from Yellohire

The lady at Yellohire worked with me to find an alternative after my requested booking was not available. She was diligent, helpful and very pleasant to deal with and found me the van that I needed.

Great value

Great van, great price, slightly dodgy unlit car park at Leeds Bradford airport to pick van up from in the dark. Portacabin was closed. Had to drive around, ask a random man and then phone to ask for someone to come and give me the van. All worked out fine in the end. Like I said, great van, great price

Very easy to use

Very easy to use. Best prices we found after calling round lots of places and trawling the internet. Was a bit dubious at first but couldn’t have been more wrong. Will defo use again in the future. Customer service also brilliant. Thanks guys!!!
