Use this company at your peril

Use this company at your peril. As the main carer for my brother who lives in a care home I was advised by Yorkshire Care's salesperson to purchase a Lento tilt in space care chair at a cost of £2285.00. I paid for the chair in two instalments and the chair was delivered on 30 April 2020. This was at the time of the covid pandemic and I was unable to visit my brother in the care home. When I was allowed to visit my brother in the home in July 2021 I noticed that the chair had suffered some damage/wear and tear to the left hand side arm. My brother has a one-to-one carer and he told me that it had been damaged for some time. My brother tends to sit with his left leg over the side of the chair, and has rubbed the plastic coating and fibre filling making a small hole. This I explained to the salesperson before purchase. I contacted Yorkshire Care and informed them about this damage and they said they would send someone with a new arm. I also informed them that the tilting mechanism at the back of the chair was faulty and this also needed attention. They informed me that they would send someone to attend to the chair. They decided to order a new arm and this was subsequently fitted and the tilting mechanism repaired. I then received an invoice for the repairs totalling £437.00 which was totally unexpected as I expected the repairs to be carried out under their warranty. When I complained I was told that the material is only guaranteed for 1 year and the frame is guaranteed for 5 years. I feel that they should have carried out the work within the 1 year warranty promise. I was not given a quotation for the new arm otherwise I would have asked them to not change the arm just recover the damage. When I pointed out that the material used was "not fit for purpose" they supplied me with test data which the manufacturer supplied. They insisted that the damage had occurred by the use of equipment i.e. hoist etc. The care home confirmed in a letter that they did not use any equipment for my brother. They are now threatening legal action if I do not pay this invoice. I feel totally let down by their unsympathetic attitude.

They sold me a chair, it’s a back bulging disc pusher (backbreaker)avoid like your well-being depends on it.

They sold me a chair that came terribly uncomfortable with the back moving in separate parts while I’m on it leaving me crooked, while using a motor it folds you in half while your backs crooked and caused me a bulging disc as confirmed by a long and arduous day in a&e with MRI.

Yorkshire Care Company promised they would deal with it then sent two people to barely look at it, they won’t even recognise it’s obvious flaws everyone else can see and feel immediately - so they sent this untrustworthy salesman out with a bag of cushion wedges, yes that’s right, cushion wedges and left it even worse. The chair makes an awful screech as it moves, apparently this is normal, but I know it is not, especially not on an item of this cost. It is the worst piece of furniture I have ever had the misfortune of using and an expensive ornament that takes up so much room it’s unreal.

Then delay after delay they went silent, now claim it’s ok and nothing wrong - my back begs to differ.

This is a £3200 item (with VAT) and feels less supportive than a chair out of a skip. I honestly think I would have more comfort laying on bags of old shoes.

In the shop it was great but the one that arrived is terrible, doesn’t feel anything like the one on the showroom and is assembled without precision. It is the worst shopping experience of my life.

So much extra stress, so much extra pain and still have a back breaking dangerous chair they refuse to do anything about.

Their so called experts are just like direct sales, talk the talk like they’re your friend and like they understand your needs, but vanish the second they have your money. I cannot say my feelings for these rogues without first taking a sedative.

Avoid them like the plague, they charge the earth, it takes months to deliver & when it arrives you realise they may talk the talk but fail you more than imaginable afterwards. I was desperate for comfort, hence breaking the bank for a comfy chair, the one that arrived is like the cheap ones I tried before ordering an expensive one, I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t even what I ordered to Maximise their profit, nothing would surprise me after dealing with them.

They have delayed their way into a position of refusing to help. Waste of time effort and money and a £500 faulty chair online would be far more comfy. They are not to be trusted. I am
In local government and can communicate adequately yet still can’t find a resolution, so god knows what an elderly person with disabilities would manage to achieve in a similar dispute.

I also ordered a buggy I was told it would come in a week, that was the end of March, it’s July now and the order is being cancelled. I needed it in May.

Use at your peril, I do not trust a word they say after this ridiculous experience.

Now I have loads of hassle just to get back to square one in looking for a new chair - I ordered this one early in January, it’s been here 3 months and has had around 10 hours use, every time it causes pain or injury. Nothing is right with these cowboys. Don’t be fooled by their friendly manner in shop, the good service stops at payment.

Avoid or risk injury, frustration, disappointment and pain. Avoid like your well-being depends on it.
